Green Cottage sits in a row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages in the beautiful village of Broad Campden, close to the famous market town of Chipping Campden, with its many tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. This charming cottage enjoys lovely rural views and many walks through the surrounding countryside can be accessed directly from the front door. The cottage is also ideally place for exploring the many popular towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, as well as famous attractions such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Blenheim Palace.

Recently refurbished to a high standard, Green Cottage offers attractive accommodation with many character features, including exposed beams in many rooms, a feature fireplace and a beautiful master bedroom in the eaves. The traditional character of the cottage has been complemented by modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a Freeview TV and a well presented kitchen.

Green Cottage sleeps four people, in two bedrooms, with a shower room. There is a well-maintained garden, with plenty of seating, and on street parking is available outside the property. The property is perfect for a family with older children or two couples who are seeking a lovely cottage from which to explore the beautiful Cotswolds region.

House Rules

Booking and payment:

Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the cottages listed on our website. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Security deposits:

Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).


The maximum occupancy of the property is four guests at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than four guests at the property.


Regrettably, pets are not accepted.

Bed linen and towels:

Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.

Arrival and departure times:

Arrival time is after 3pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Bed sizes and configurations:

Master bedroom (top floor): King size bed

Bedroom 2 (first floor): 2 x single beds


Shower room (first floor): Walk-in shower, heated towel rail, toilet and wash basin.

Heating, fuel and logs:

The property has a gas central heating system and a natural effect gas fire.

Electricity and gas are included in the rental price.

Services provided:

The property has free wireless internet access and a Freeview TV with DVD player, plus a CD player. A telephone is also provided, with an honesty box for the cost of calls made.

Mobile phone reception is generally OK.


Free on-street parking is available outside the property.


Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.

Child friendly facilities:

Regrettably, Green Cottage does not accept babies or children under the age of 12.

Initial consumables:

A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.

Accessibility, health and safety:

This is an old property and has many character features, including low beams and relatively steep, winding stairs, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.

The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.


No smoking is permitted throughout the property.


Whilst the road that the property sits on is not busy, some cars and farm vehicles travel along it at speed, therefore guests should take care when leaving the property.

Perfect location for a relaxing bread in the cotswolds

The cottage exactly met our needs - well equipped, cosy to return to at the end of a day's walking, hot water, excellent restaurants nearby and comfy beds.

Green Cottage. Broad Campden

A lovely cottage, which is warm and comfortable. However nice it is, the cottage has issues which need addressing. The cottage is quite expensive and certainly should be in perfect condition.

The bathroom door sticks and the shower control is stiff to move and hard to switch off.

In the middle of the night about 20+ woodlice move around in the sitting room. We tried to block the holes up to stop them appearing. They were still there in the morning.

There didn’t appear to be containers for the recycling and no compostible bags for the food container. There were no instructions on where to place the rubbish, so although we do recycle everything we can, we had to leave everything in the kitchen.

I’m afraid the problems with the bathroom and the woodlice, did affect our stay. I hope the improvements will be made.

Owner's Response: We are extremely sorry to hear you experienced some issues during your stay, we take the maintenance of the property very seriously which is why there is a 24/7 contact number in the guest manual. In this case we did not receive any contact about the issues, had we been contacted we would of course been able to rectify the issues for you. On the first page of the guest manual it does explain about the bin collection procedure and there is also a printed calendar attached to this. We do thank you for highlighting the other issues which have now been resolved.

The Cotswolds are a range of hills in west-central England, sometimes called the "Heart of England". The name Cotswold means "sheep enclosure in rolling hillsides".

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Car: Broad Campden is easily accessed by car, being located approximately 3 miles away from the A44 and approximately 5 miles away from the A429 (Fosse Way), which are two of the main roads through the North Cotswolds.

Train: The nearest railway station to Broad Campden is Moreton-in-Marsh (approximately 5 miles away), which has regular, direct services to London Paddington, with a typical journey time of approximately 90 minutes.

Plane: Broad Campden is within easy reach of a number of international airports: Birmingham International Airport: 40 miles, approximately 60 minute drive; Heathrow International Airport: 75 miles, approximately 100 minute drive.
