The property situated in Punta Mujeres is ideal for people from all walks of life. It has the character of a traditional Lanzarote property and the views are breathtaking. It is a charming village with a superb local atmosphere. Fishing, sunbathing and swimming are just outside the front door. If you choose to stay in Punta Mujeres you'll never have far to go from the villa in order to spend each day on a unique beach, although many people prefer to explore the more rugged areas of coastline where tranquil coves and natural pools provide the kind of environment that is perfect for a truly romantic holiday. Within a 5 minute walk there are local bars and restaurants which cater for all tastes and budgets. The local bar is especially 'Canarian' where you can sit by the sea front with a beer or glass of wine for a euro or 2 and a choice of tapas for 2 or 3 euros. There are a number of mini markets, shops, take away cafes, and of course restaurants.

If you fancy a day out the towns of Hariia and Teguise are nearby and are the capitals of the local municipalities. They are very interesting and Canarian. The drive from Punta Mujeres to Haria and Teguise is magnificent.

Most water sports can be partaken in Punta Mujeres or nearby. Surfing is popular in neighbouring Arrieta. Swimming, snorkelling, fishing, are just outside the door. Walking and cycling are very popular as the local terrain is flat. We do provide 2 cycles.

About Diana

We are a retired couple who took early retirement and spend much of our time in Punta Mujeres or at our other properties in Costa Teguise and Cape Coral Florida maintaining our properties. We especially love our time in Punta Mujeres.

Diana purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Diana chose Lanzarote

This property is very unique. Due to planning laws it is very difficult to acquire any property this close to the sea front. Having direcet access to the sea is a wonderful experience, either viewing it from the top terrace or sitting by the sea wall watching the waves roll in.

Pretty Village Self Catering.

Our stay in Punta was perfect. Huge roof terrace. Pebbly beach below and sandy beach in a few yards. Area mainly locals and Canarian holiday makers. They were all friendly and lovely with the 6yr old that was with us.Pretty little cat called Lena lived close by. A real village and no complaints.

Brenda and Len were excellent, called round and introduced themselves.Nothing would have been too much trouble for them, their only concern is for your comfort. We shopped mainly at Arrietta filling station but the small shops 3 in total have everything from a toothbrush to Gelatine! Every shop we used were happy to see us and not just for our money. We had Tapas at the small bar nearby, again friendly, help yourself ,pay later. Had Tapas at both bars in Arrietta both good cost similar. We enjoyed The Pirate castle , pretty scary road and entrance but worth it.Good cooking facilities, washing machine., toaster etc.Was certainly clean and we enjoyed every hour we were there. We missed not having a BBQ as we self cater and there is a hob and sink on the terrace it seemed a missed opportunity despite the wind. The locals all BBQ in the passage way below.

Ask Brenda and Len for directions to Lidl. But it seemed to us for the first time go through Costa Teguise, you can see Ikea and its next door. Not open Sunday. Hyperdino expensive.Spar good value had excellent steak.Market at Haria good for fruit and veg, ask Brenda anything you need to know. Jon, Kate and Leah

Utter Bliss

  • 5 of 5

One of the most relaxing holiday we have had in a long time. Stayed three weeks and loved the peace and tranquillity. The apartment has everything you need with the added bonus of a large sun terrace with stunning views. A typical Spanish village with lots of local life going on, but if you prefer the nightclub and pub holiday this is not the place for you. We swam in the rock pools and walked along the coast to the caves with the blind crabs visited the desert on a bird watching tour quite an experience. Had one of the most comfortable beds and the open plan lounge area had great comfy sofas and a Juliette balcony where from the windows the sea was feet away and you could watch the locals swimming for fish and fishing from the pier where you could have their catch for lunch in the local restaurant . Doug and Di the owners could not have been more helpful and we would love to go back again so thank you so much

Wonderful break, wonderful apartment.

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't fault the apartment in any way. Beautifully clean and well appointed. Everything you needed was there. Di and Doug. (the owners) went out of their way to make sure we had a lovely holiday. We would definitely recommend this apartment to all our friends. Stunning views and such a friendly village.

We arrived 3 hours later than we should as the apartment was very difficult to find, especially at night. Poor parking. Upon entrance, we found it to be extremely dark, very dusty and very uninviting. There were light bulbs missing in important places, plugs/wiring was described by my Electrician husband as a 'death-trap'. Taps were poorly fitted, coming loose when turned on - spluttering dirty brown water. The kitchen counter had not been washed at all and the hob was extremely dusty with the oven shelves/trays etc covered in torn old foil which was clearly unhygienic and unfit for use and the cutlery/utensils were absolutely minimal and very basic. The first bedroom was unspeakably dark, cold and once again, totally basic and where I met my first cockroach. The main bedroom, however, was clean and although, once again, dreadfully dark, the bed was clean and fresh (I stripped it myself to ensure this) and with clean towels. We eventually ventured upstairs to the terrace and once we had encouraged the gate to open, found the terrace not to be as advertised with little or no privacy and definitely not the view on the picture. Nothing worked, no fridge, no hotplate (well we think that's what it was) taps literally falling off the sink and wiring worse than downstairs!

INFESTATION WAS INSANE.... we couldn't get to the Microwave plug for the immense invasion of tiny ants, normally not a problem abroad, but this was crazy. Had to wash the counter and hob down in order to get rid of them enough to get to the kettle and it was an experience attempting a bite of breakfast before leaving the following morning! The floor was covered in them, we ended up brushing them off our shoes!

But the BEST BIT of all was the notice in the main bathroom informing us to ensure all plugs were kept in the sinks/bath as we didn't want to invite any "UNWANTED GUESTS"...... well THAT made you sleep well!

Having said that, we were grateful for the bottle of water and carton of milk left in the fridge for us. We stayed one night and cleared off as quickly as possible, booking into Puerto Del Carmen for 6 nights, costing us almost 3 times more for our holiday.

We found the photos/description misleading and did not reflect the apartment we thought we were renting for a week and would genuinely question the 'recently refurbished' declaration. I would also urge anyone thinking of this Apt to check the dates on previous reviews, other than ours, they are indeed rather old!!

Owner's Response: They said they got lost despite us emailing detailed instructions and directions both for the apartment and local restaurants. We spoke with them and directed them to the apartment. We text them later that night to check they were , we received a text back saying everything was fine and settling in. There is a large streetlight on the wall opposite the main entrance to the property which makes it very light at night. There is on street parking between 20 and 50 metres from the front door. Parking is allowed to offload your car at front door. There were no light bulbs missing. There are a total of 11 ceiling light bulbs in the hall, lounge and kitchen area. Which is open plan only 2 didn't work so plenty of light. There are no faulty plugs. The 'electrician' is wrong. The property was completely rewired in 2007. It is safe. A electrician would have recognised the updated system. The reason they were dark is they have shutters on them that easily open. There was only 1 tap loose in ensuite. The terrace room has a Sink, 2 plate hob, refrigerator, washing machine, toaster and electric kettle. All in working order. There is no microwave in the terrace room so no ant problem If they are referring to the main kitchen , all we can say is that there were no ants when our rep arrived shortly after they told us they left. 7. Her description of the kitchen is wrong. It is a full working modern kitchen and had she bothered to open drawers, cupboards has matching dinner service for up to 8, cutlery for 8, quality cooking utensils, serving dishes, pots and pans, microwave, electric kettle, 4 slice toaster, chopping boards full working modern ,oven and hob, fridge freezer, full set of different types of glasses. We do keep the oven trays foiled and if it was crumpled it could have been easily replaced if reported to us.The 2nd Bedroom has a white wardrobe Double and single beds and ensuite. Her description of the roof terrace is inaccurate. For its magnificent view of both the ocean to the front and the hills at the back. We find their relocation to Purto del Carmen bewildering. They moved out witout any explanation. Punta to Puerto del Carmen is. comparable to going to Cornwall ,and ending up in Blackpool. No offence to Blackpool but a totally different type of holiday. We heard from her more 3 weeks later. Amazingly all these alleged faults appeared inemail sent to us when she ASKED FOR A REFUND. The property was REPLUMBED with plastic pipes as was the complete village

Great apartment, great village!

  • 5 of 5

We were stunned when we climbed the stairs and went into the apartment. Superb. Then we realised we had more stairs to go up. Unbelievable! What a terrace. It was our own fault for not reading the info in more detail. We thought we had to share with the ground floor apartment but no, it was all ours for the week!

The apartment had everything we needed and we only ate out once, Sunday lunch down on the beach bar next to where the UK PM had been stung by jellyfish a few weeks before. We had a car so we were able to get to supermarkets in arrecife in 20 mins but there are a few in Punta and Arrieta.

The only sound you hear at night is that of the waves on the cove outside. I expect it would be busier in July and August though.

Each afternoon it was a pleasure to go back as we had been out every day on hikes at Famara, Mancha Blanca and other places. Tired legs, flop on the sunbeds with a cold beer from one of your own (2!) fridges. Bliss.

If you like liveliness and the delights of Puerto del Carmen etc etc , English food, satellite TV and all things English but with sun then dont come up to Punta Mujeres. If you want to sample life in a part of Lanzarote where the locals still smile and say 'ola' ( speaking a little bit of spanish helps) then this is a fantastic place.

We are just about to leave and have a week down in Playa Blanca but we know we are going to miss this place.

Pay the extra if you can and get the apartment with the terrace.

Thanks Diana for sorting the booking process, Doug for phoning to see how we were doing and also thanks to Brenda for telling us where the front door key was hiding!

You can be proud of Casa Neptune.

The village of Punta Mujeres is located on the north-east coastline of Lanzarote adjacent to Arrieta. The property is situated on the seafront which is just a few metres from the door. The streets and paths hug the coastline so you are never far from the water. A variety of beaches and sea pools are scattered throughout the village. Lanzarote is a small but beautiful varied island with volcanic black or white sandy beaches and breathtaking views. Along the nearby coasts are numerous beaches, sand dunes, the port of Orzola, and volcanic rock waterfronts. The tourist attractions of Jameos del Agua, Mirador del Rio, Cuevas de los Verdes, the Cactus Gardens of Guatiza, and palm trees of Haria are only a few miles away. Further afield there are the main tourist resorts of Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen, the capital city, Arrecife, wine fields of La Geria, Timanfaya volcano and the creative works of Cesar Manrique. There is magnificent varied land scape through the island.
