New, Heated Saltwater Pool just in time for the falling temps! 400,000 BTU heater controlled via Wi-Fi and heated to 84° for your enjoyment.
Stella’s Retreat represents one of the nicest homes with a private pool on the South End available for rent. Built in 1980, the house has been renovated including new kitchen, new back porch/living area, new outside shower, new landscaping, new parking area and new saltwater pool. In addition, all furniture, appliances, beds and linens are all new. Everyone who has stayed with us makes the comment that the pictures simply don’t do the property justice. Treat yourself to a stay with us and find out!
Constructed by ATP Pools, no expense was spared in the construction of this pool. It is saltwater which is much friendlier on the skin if you plan on spending multiple days in the pool. Measuring 16’ x 28’, the bottom is a dark grey which creates a darker look during the day and is rich and inviting. At night, the automatic light turns on and the pool takes on a lavender hue. The entire deck from the backdoor to the back of the pool is constructed with Shellstone pavers, while most pools use Kool Deck. Lastly, the pool equipment is high efficiency, so unless you are standing within five feet of it, you will never know it is running.
The living room is ultra comfortable and homey. The oyster tabby floors are as coastal as it gets. It comfortably seats seven via a sofa and four custom chairs. The sofa folds out into a queen bed as well should you need more sleeping space. It is flanked by two sets of custom chairs. There is a side table between each set of chairs for setting down your reading book or cocktail. There is a large console table behind the couch which contains two lamps that light the room perfectly for that evening movie. The main coffee table is a shrimp door which was used by my father’s shrimp boat in the 1980’s. There is a large fan which pushes tons of air to keep you cool on hot summer days. There are can lights on a dimmer switch so the lighting can be affixed to your liking. Entertainment is provided by a new 55” Samsung Smart HDTV which hangs above the oyster tabby fireplace and is fed by a Comcast Xfinity box. The box is DVR and we have recorded quite a few movies for your viewing pleasure. In addition, we have HBO, Starz, Showtime and Cinemax, so you should never be lacking in movies to watch. There is also a Samsung DVD player, so bring your movies along! We have Comcast Xfinity high speed cable internet which supplies the signal for all your devices. A khaki jute rug softens the tabby floor in the living space. We also have card games, board games, chess and checkers for your entertainment.
Outdoor Living Area
Walking out of the back of the house, you enter the outdoor living room. The deck is made of Shellstone pavers which also surround the pool. The porch has a tin roof which sounds oh so lovely when the afternoon showers arrive. There is an outdoor sofa with seating for 5-6 comfortably. A custom oyster basket light keeps the area lit and two large outdoor fans keep the air flowing, making the outdoor area comfortable on the hottest of days. Hanging on the wall is a 43” Vizio HDTV which is wonderful for keeping the kids entertained, watching your favorite sports game from the pool or just relaxing in the evening and watching a movie. There is an outdoor dining table with seating for six. There is a gas grill for your outdoor cooking convenience. A shower is off the porch for rinsing the sand off your feet after coming back from the beach or simply enjoying the blue sky while showering. Confederate Jasmine climbs the posts on the porch, adding to the beauty and at the right time of year, provides beautiful scents. Four full size lounge chairs with cushions are available for reading and sunbathing.
Master Bedroom – the master bedroom contains a new king size bed with custom whitewashed headboard from Tennessee Woodworks at Scott’s Antique Market. The room has a dresser big enough for all your folding clothes and is topped with a 32” HDTV and Comcast Xfinity Box. There is a sitting area with table for reading a book or chatting with your significant other while they get ready. Off the master is a balcony with a table and two chairs which is absolutely wonderful for sitting early in the morning and having coffee. There is a nice view all the way down the street from the balcony. The bathroom is standard with a single sink, toilet and porcelain tub with a tiled shower. There is a large walk in closet with more than enough room for all your clothes. There are 20 wooden hangers contained within. There is a ceiling fan in the room which pushes a good amount of air if you need airflow to sleep well.
Guest Bedroom – this room contains a new queen bed with a dresser on one side and a bedside table on the other, topped with an alarm clock. The headboard is made of old, antique shutters. There are sconces on both sides of the bed with independent controls so you can continue to read if your significant other decides to go to sleep. There is a 32” HDTV which hangs on a wall in the top corner of the room for easy viewing. There are two closets in this room with 20 wooden hangers for your clothing needs. There is a ceiling fan in the room which pushes a good amount of air if you need airflow to sleep well. The bathroom shared by the guest and kids room is a standard with a single sink, toilet and porcelain tub with a tiled shower.
Kids Bedroom – this room, while comfortable for adults, was set up with kids in mind. Rather than the standard double sized bunk beds most rental houses come with, these bunk beds are full beds, which means you can easily sleep two kids comfortably in each bed. To top it off, it also contains a full size trundle bed. We have had six kids in this room and all slept very comfortably. Next to the bed is a bedside table topped with an alarm clock should anyone need to wake at a particular time the next morning. There is a dresser topped with a 32” HDTV and Comcast Xfinity box. There is a bookshelf stuffed with lots of kids books, mainly geared towards the 10 and under ages. There is also a bay window which is great for the kids to open the blinds, sit in and read. There is a walk in closet and 20 wooden hangers are included for hanging your clothes.
The kitchen was renovated within the past year and is well stocked for large groups. The oven is a glass top electric oven which works great for all meals we have cooked. The countertops are granite with two large wooden cutting boards on each end. There is plenty of cabinet space and pantry space. We have overstocked the kitchen with plates, bowls, cups, silverware, wine glasses, cocktails glasses mixing bowls and such. I challenge you to find a better stocked kitchen in a rental than ours. Our family is big into cooking home meals and we have stocked it as we have our full time home. There is a Samsung dishwasher which does a wonderful job and you would never know it is running. There is a coffee maker, a four piece toaster and microwave for your cooking convenience. There is also a blender for your smoothies or frozen beverages. Lastly, a set of Samsung VRT Steam washer and dryer make cleaning clothes a breeze. So quiet, yet they do such a great job getting out the stains!
The landscaping was completed by The Vine on St Simons. The grass is locally grown St. Augustine and a new parking pad was created in the front, which provides room for up to four cars. Boxwood ferns adorn the property and the rear is surrounded by bamboo and ligustrums, which provides ample privacy and there is a large fig tree to greet you at the front door.
The Village is walking distance and has the best shopping and dining areas, as well as the fishing pier. The best park on the island, Mallery Park, is a five minute walk and the kids will love it. We have seven foot tides on average at St Simons which makes the beach situation variable. The beach near the pier has beach during low tide which is an easy walk from the house. As the tide comes in, the beach area moves north. Myrtle Street always has beach. Walking is 1.2 miles, which is a 20 minute walk, 6 minute bike ride or 4 minute car ride. King & Prince beach is next to Myrtle Street, followed by Massengale Park and then North Breakers. Further down is Coast Guard and then East Beach. All is very accessible from our cottage. Bike rental/golf cart rental is a wise idea if you intend to spend most of your time on the beach. If you intend to spend most of your time at the pool, dining and shopping, your two feet will work just fine.
We also offer the ability to have the refrigerator and pantry stocked upon your arrival so you can park the car for the entire week and walk, bike or cart to the best restaurants, bars and shops on the island.
