About The Owner

A thousand irish welcomes. We are Debbie and David and we are happy to share our home with you. We belong to a wonderful community in Cootehall, Ireland. We've travelled and lived in several countries but our ancestory and love of all-things-Irish called us 'home' to settle in Ireland. Debbie was a teacher for 20 years and Dave a personal trainer. We care for an elderly parent in her home when needed giving us the opportunity to share our beautiful home with you.

The Owner purchased this house in 2014

Why The Owner chose Ireland

Cootehall Village is a typical irish village and there are many attractions and activities nearby. This area is very quiet. Wildlife includes many varieties of birds and donkeys are common in our area. The neighbor feeds a wild fox and hedgehog at her home. Comforts include wifi, tv, a beautiful kitchen and friendly neighbours.

This house is new, huge and very comfortable. It has all the comforts of home.

What makes this house unique

The setting is serene and peaceful. So quiet.

Very Comfortable and Fully Equipped!!

  • 5 of 5

We were three seniors staying at Carrick-on-Shannon for three days. The house is big with lots of room to spread out. The beds were the most comfortable we have had in all of our stops in Ireland. The heat was good, water pressure was strong with plenty of hot water. The washer and dryer worked perfectly. Thank you for having ham and cheese and milk in the refrigerator when we arrived. That was a very nice touch. There were plenty of supplies for everything we needed. Plus, the neighbor Natalie's husband came by to help us when we had trouble with the rental car. We couldn't ask for more of the house. For the area, we visited where Turlough O'Carolan was buried in Keadue (or Keadew), spent a little time in Carrick-on-Shannon, and explored nearby Boyle. We did have a little trouble finding the house the first time because it wasn't coming up on my car GPS. Dave was on the phone with me texting and sending me directions. My fault, though ... just use the google maps directions included with the VRBO instructions on your cell phone once you book. That took us right to the front door. A good grocery store is a little ways up the road going toward Carrick-on-Shannon. This was definitely a great rental! The owners are very responsive and quick to reply to the least little questions.

Perfect Country Rental House!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved this house. The kitchen was beautiful, beds were very comfortable, and it was spotlessly clean. Natalie was extremely friendly, and she even stocked the fridge with eggs, bacon, milk, sausage, water, soda, etc. My wife and I have rented dozens of houses in the US and Europe, and we've never seen a stocked fridge before. It was very thoughtful and greatly appreciated (especially after traveling for 12+ hours straight!).

The location was also very beautiful, but you definitely need a rental car. EnnisKillen, Sligo, Westport, etc. are all within an hours drive. We even drove back to Dublin for a 10k race and it didn't take more than a few hours. If you want to experience the Irish countryside away from a lot of the tourist traps, this is the house to rent. Our only regret is that we booked the house for 1 week and not 2! We really missed this house the second week of our trip.

Lovely stay in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We really loved the location of this house which was halfway between Boyle and Carrick on Shannon and it was also very near to the Lough Key Forest Park which was a great place to visit. The house was lovely and had everything you would need including the kind supply of welcome groceries.

We would definitely stay here again thank you very much
