Unquestionably the best views and most luxurious accommodations in the area!
During the "high season," guests will typically be greeted by the acclaimed artist Joan Hanley and given tours of the Villa and accompanying artwork upon arrival. As La Veta's artistic heart and soul, a local icon, Joan has the up to date info on local activities and recommendations.
Lovely home in a small, peaceful town in Colorado. Large and spacious for our family of five. Seeing the deer and wildlife was a highlight of our trip. It is hard to come up with "dislikes" about this home. At times the internet was slow, didn't bother me, it made the kids read more. The home for the most part does not have Any window shades or blinds. This means bright sunlight streaming through the windows, and little privacy, although honestly privacy is not needed with the location of this home. I suspect this was done on purpose, as the home has breathtaking views from most windows. As a side note the downstairs part of the home (separate entrance) is occupied by the manager / caretaker? of the home. Didn't bother us at all, but maybe it would some....Lovely, lovely time, and definitely recommend to anyone wanting to reconnect with family, and be in a peaceful, quiet, residence, surrounded by nature.
We loved everything about this beautiful place. It's hard to describe how beautiful the scenery is. It was a perfect place for me to relax and find the peace that so often escapes me in my every day stressed out world. Our girls weekend went by way too fast but we plan on coming back whenever we can. We had a Friday night dinner at Frankie's in La Veta and dinner at Aly's on Saturday night. The steak at Frankie's should be on everyone's list. It was SO good. We enjoyed meeting Joan Hanley and would highly recommend this home.
Perhaps the best part of our stay was meeting and getting to know the architect and national artist, Joan Hanley. Her humor, creativity and good nature are infused into the design of the home. It is a magnificent show place for the fine art there as well as a spectacular prism for viewing the picturesque countryside from all directions. All said, this visit will be remembered for feeding both the eye and the soul.

We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful home! It was perfect! Great location and the views were amazing. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home.
We stayed at the Spanish Peaks Villa Fourth of July Weekend two months after my husband passed away to enjoy quality family time. My husbands brother, wife, and two children; my daughter; and my sister and her husband all stayed with me at the villa. It was absolutely beautiful and the perfect place for us to reconnect and reminisce about my husband.
The villa was gorgeous and wonderfully clean. The gourmet kitchen was fully stocked and perfect for us to be able to cook meals as a family. The artwork around the villa was beautiful and peaceful. We particularly enjoyed spending some time with Joan, sharing a glass of wine and hearing about her very exciting life.
The view was absolutely breathtaking. The two boys loved seeing all the deer and petting the neighbors zebra-donkey mix. We enjoyed taking long walks around the property and down to the two lakes.
My brother-in-law said it was the best vacation their family has had since they've been married. We highly recommend staying at the villa to anyone considering it. We have already been discussing when we can go back!
A beautiful home with the most spectacular views all around!
Very nicely presented home with amazing art close to the small town of La Veta which is a hidden secret in my opinion.
We used it as a stopping off point to visit the Great Sand Dunes national park and worked out well for this.
Would love to wake up to those views of the Spanish Peaks everyday.
Eclectic, scenic town nestled in Cuchara River Valley between majestic Rocky Mountain Peaks - perfect getaway and launching point for outdoor activities or local fun, arts, and conversation. La Veta is a haven for renowned artists, musicians, CEOs, ranchers, summer bikers, and friendly hard working locals.
