A unique and welcoming house with great facilities. Pete and Una were amazing hosts!
The house was perfect for what we needed which was a warm, open space where we could all spend time with each other. The bedrooms were great and Ashford is a really nice town. Pete and Una were great hosts and were straight over to help out with even the most minor querie. We were really impressed all round and can’t recommend it enough!
Lots of space
We had a great week in the house, there was plenty of space for 8 adults and everyone appreciated the king size beds and the soft bed linens. The IKEA kitchen was fabulous, plenty of space to cook and the kitchen table was a good place to congregate. The BBQ worked really well, we had some yummy grilled food from it one night. The stove and the underfloor heating work definitely work fast - we cranked it up the first night and it was way too hot upstairs.
Una and Pete were very helpful, Una brought over a bunch of roses when she heard we were celebrating a birthday and Pete brought over torches (flashlights) when we had a power cut on our last night.
It is a good central place to explore from, we did a lot of hillwalking and Mount Usher gardens is very interesting.
Two things to note: the house is up a steep hill so it is a stroll to the village but might be a bit much coming back for some people. Also, the half bath is outside.
All in all we had a great time in this really unusual house and it was nice having the owners next door for any problems.
Inspiring home away from home...
Me and my husband fell in love with this place from the moment we saw the profile online. It is a beautifully designed property and the unique style and cohesive design perfectly illustrate the artistic creativity of the owners, Una and Pete. It is even more impressive in person than in the photos... cosy, comfortable and inviting. It was a really relaxing space for us and our guests during our hectic wedding period. We can't wait to stay again!
Great family accommodation
A fabulous place to spend a few days with the family in a beautiful part of Wicklow. The house was perfect. Quirky and spacious it was tasteful, comfortable and very well equipped to cover all needs of adults and children. Una and Pete were great hosts!
What a gem in Wicklow Co!
We stayed at Una and Peter's place with our two grown children and their spouses for 6 days in July. This house is such a wonderful place with beautiful rooms 4 king beds!!! , plenty of space and so close to most of eastern Ireland. We took day trips to Dublin, Greystones, Kilkenny, and Wicklow. We had our breakfast every morning at the large table and finished our days back at the table playing games. The house is walking distance to the beautiful Usher Gardens and restaurant. A local pub/restaurant "The Wood Pecker" Had great food. ( we ate there twice.) I can't say enough about our host and hostess Peter and Una! They were right there for anything we needed and both charming. I would stay here again and would recommend staying here especially if you have plans in eastern Ireland.Thank you again VRBO for having such great places like this one. Innovative eco design but with all mod cons
The lodge was ideal for our party of 7 with a comfortable seating area and very well equipped kitchen. We loved the industrial design incorporating a lot of recycled materials - plenty of very innovative ideas! Peter and Una were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The location is also very convenient - you can walk to the shops in Ashford and the wonderful Mount Usher gardens. For larger parties the single shower room (the other one is en suite) might be a bit limiting. There is no separate WC despite what the HomeAway website says! It was also a shame that the sauna hasn't been completed yet. Otherwise the facilites were great and we were able to make use of the BBQ thanks to some excellent weather. We would certainly recommend this interesting house as an excellent base for anyone visiting this part of Ireland.
