Why Mary Catherine chose Punta Mita

We traveled to Punta Mita a few years ago with no intention of purchasing property. After staying here for two weeks we were absolutely in love with everything this place had to offer. We love the culture, shopping, and restaurants in the beachfront town outside the gates, but we love the privacy and security within the Punta Mita community. We loved being able to get anywhere we needed to be using a golf cart, and seeing newborn whales was a huge bonus!

What makes this condo unique

We looked at several properties in Punta Mita before deciding upon this penthouse. This unit is higher than any other unit in Hacienda de Mita, therefore your views are unmatched. At first you are so mesmerized by the beautiful ocean view for miles and miles but because of the orientation of our unit, you can also see the entire bay which includes the beautiful Sierra Madre mountains and the lights of Puerto Vallarta at night. The second bedroom looks out into the mountains and into the town of El Enclote which is a stunning view. From the third bedroom you see the Four Seasons Pacifico golf course. This unit is the most private in Hacienda de Mita. It is one of the only units where your secondary views are unobstructed. Almost every other unit (including every beachfront unit) looks into a parking garage and/or another building in each of the secondary bedrooms. It would have been too hard for us to purchase something where we had to keep windows closed for privacy!

Amazing property!

Two family's stayed at this condo over Spring Break. It is beautiful and spacious. There are four bedrooms, but the smallest one with the bunk beds (also the laundry room) is very small. Don't plan on anyone over about 12 fitting in those beds. Mary Catherine, the property owner, was super nice and helpful. She answered all of my questions in a timely and thorough manner. We emailed several times before the trip. The housekeeper/cook, Claudia, is sweet and an awesome cook! Each day she cooked us breakfast and made snacks and margaritas for the afternoon. You do have to set this up ahead of time and pay for the grocery's. The concierge will email you and walk you thru all of the ordering.

We enjoyed the Kupuri beach club the most. It is better to go there if you have children because the Four Season and St. Regis is a little quieter and more for adults than kids throwing a football. The service and food at Kupuri were great. The condo comes with a 6 passenger golf cart and that is the way that everyone gets around inside the gates. We did not go to the St. Regis beach club because it is $85/person to get in (they credit you that back in food/drinks) and we did not think that was worth it with kids. We also used the private beach down at the bottom of Hacienda di Mita. The kids loved the pool. The beach is too rocky there for swimming but several people were attempting to surf. There is a bartender there and the drinks are very reasonably priced. There were not very many people there at any time that we went to that pool.

Mary Catherine gave us recommendations for restaurants both inside and outside the gates in Punta Mita. Casa Theresa was our favorite! It is right outside the gates and in a beautiful home, dining al fresca. Wonderful service and food! Not cheap, but so worth it! We also ate at the Blue Shrimp and really enjoyed that. We had caught a ton of Mahi Mahi and brought it to them to cook. The restaurant is beautiful at night and the food was awesome!

It was a really great vacation, no down side to speak of except you can not be out on your balcony after 10 making any kinds of noise. Actually you can't make noise on the balcony at any time, don't plan to play music out there or talk above a whisper.

We look forward to our next visit!

A special family holiday where every minute was a treat.

We had a wonderful time in this fabulous property, well appointed with fantastic views. It easily accommodated 6 adults and 2 children with beautiful bedrooms ensuites, and enough other spaces to relax together or on your own. We enjoyed having our breakfast in the dining room and our lunch daily on the terrace. Claudia spoiled us all. We enjoyed our time at the various Beach Clubs that we had access to. Every part of the experience was first class and will be well remembered.

Condo and Views Even Better Than Pictures

What a fabulous property! The views are absolutely stunning and the pictures do not do it justice. Every morning we enjoyed waking up and watching the amazing pink sunrises come up over the mountains and water in the distance sipping coffee. The condo itself is finished out beautifully and is very well appointed with everything from kitchen utensils to electronics (Interent, 65" flatscreen w/ Netflix, Sonos sound system all work great!).

In addition, to the wonderful condo - Claudia who came every day - is a wonderful cook and extremely nice person. Having fresh Mexican food or English style breakfast every day was wonderful. Sometimes we mixed them - like serving eggs over green chicken enchiladas where everything was made from scratch. YUM! Claudia also made kabobs, fajitas, tortilla soup, enchiladas, and other things. We had her make lunch most days but paid a little extra to have her make us dinner on two nights. Both were outstanding. Talk about luxury! Having fresh Mexican food made for you with no stress and sitting out on that balcony with expansive views is tough to beat!

The beach clubs and restaurants are also terrific. The restaurant Sufi for dinner was amazing! The deserts at Tuna Blanca in Punta Mita are particularly whimsical and delicious. The chef of Tuna Blanca is also the chef for the iconic Cafe Des Astistes in Puerto Vallarta. As for beaches - the beach in front of the condo is more for looking at than using. But you have access to three great beach clubs with the golf cart. We really loved the Kurpuri Beach club where you have your choice of laying out by the infinity pool looking over the beach or boogie boarding on nice size waves to the sandy beach.

You get access to the fabulous condo, the wonderful cooking of Claudia, and beautiful private beach clubs - the total package really hard to compete with! I am sure we will be back and highly recommend Hacienda Del Mar!

We loved Casa del Mar!

What a wonderful vacation at Casa del Mar!! Every aspect of this getaway exceeded our expectations. The photos do not do justice to this beautiful condo. Plus the view! We enjoyed morning coffee on the balcony watching the bay come alive with activity. Soon Claudia would call us to breakfast, each one better than the last. Lunches were equally spectacular. (We had to come home while our clothes still fit.)

Gaby the concierge guided us through exploring the resort, the beach clubs, walking trails, and nearby activities. She made great recommendations for restaurants both on the resort and in town. Everyone was very friendly, helpful, and dedicated to our enjoyment.

We took home great memories and look forward to our next trip. Thank you, Mary Catherine, Claudia, and Gaby.

A fantastic trip!

This is our second time at the same property in Punta de Mita and we will go back again next year! Such a relaxing, fantastic trip and we loved the golf courses, the Hacienda de Mita property, the surrounding restaurants, the beaches, etc. The condo is wonderful and Claudia is such a great cook and a wonderful person. We will definitely visit again next year!

Fabulous property with great service and amenities

Fantastic time during our 12/26/17 - 1/2/18 stay. The property is awesome, Mary Catherine the owner is terrific, Soledad the host was great and Claudia (the lovely chef / maid) spoiled us rotten with the wonderful breakfast and lunches. Between the property itself, the location, great tennis, beach clubs and easy access to some terrific restaurants, the overall trip was great. We did have 2 hiccups during the visit, however, which is why I gave this 4 stars versus 5. #1 - Guests should be strongly reminded that any incidental charges to the room (massages, dinner chefs, food, etc.) will be charged an additional 15% service charge and a 16% VAT. This shocked us. After much discussion, they ended up taking the service charges off, but kept the VAT. Key lesson -- avoid putting any charges on the "house account" because they will slap the 15% service charge and 16% VAT on every dime. So, for example, an in-room massage put on the house account includes the base massage fee, Mita residential 15% service charge, 16% VAT and all of this is BEFORE you even tip the massage people. Guests would be much better off paying the massage person the base fee and gratuity directly and if they want to charge VAT that is up to each individual vendor. The other hiccup we had was on Dec 29. We had 12 people over for dinner (all adults) and security started hassling us at 8:45 pm because some people complained we were too loud. They proceeded to call security 3 additional times over the next hour. It was weird because our guests were just having normal dinner conversation and this was well before the 10 pm HOA quiet guidelines. My wife and I didn’t know what to do because people were just talking and having a good time. It is hard to keep 12 people silent. We basically asked everybody to leave at 10 pm because the security people were calling every 15 minutes. We’re 99% sure it was a young family just below us that seemed to go to bed at 8 pm every night. In any event, it was weird and a bit embarrassing but I was surprised the security people hassled us so much given that our dinner party took place between 6-10 pm and it was the only night we ate in. Meanwhile, fireworks continued to go off well into the night, which was pretty darn fun, but I guess that didn’t seem to bother the guests below! Oh well, some people are just a pain and if we hadn't paid over $15,000 for the week (obviously peak high season), the 2 hiccups wouldn't have bothered us as much
