Great apartment - poor communication

The property is in a beautiful area of the Panier District. The area is full of cafes and restaurants and is typically French and very quaint. It's close to the harbour with a nice walk down.

The apartment has 2 bedrooms, both double/twin with ensuite and then a sofa bed in the living room. It has everything you need in the kitchen to be able to eat in. We particularly liked the terrace with a big table where we always sat to eat with a beautiful view down the streets of the district.

I give the apartment 3 stars because of the issues from homeaway, the property owner, and the key holder. We arrived at our arranged time to be left outside with no contact details worrying where the key holder was for 30 minutes. When we were let in we were told that we needed to pay a deposit on the property that we would be given back at the end. We had already paid the full price and a large deposit through homeaway. We explained this and was told that we had only paid the cost of the apartment and that they needed the extra deposit. We phoned homeaway to ask what to do and they washed their hands of the rental agreement. We spent time going through old emails for proof of the original agreement that we then sent to the owner. They agreed the following day that if we paid the second deposit they would return both deposits in cash at the end. We did so to avoid anymore issues so we could start our holiday. The mistake was recognised and the money was returned the following day.

The final day was our main issue and the reason for this review. We were told we could pay for a cleaner or clean the apartment ourselves. There were 5 of us so thought we'd do it ourselves. When we arrived the cleanliness of the apartment was ok. It had not had a good clean, but didn't expect anything else for the price. The key holder explained that the last tenants had only left a few hours previously and that she didn't have time to clean all the sheets/towels. The washing machine was still running and washing on the line. We brought these in for the key holder and had to make our own beds as she had not had time to do so. We were ok with this until the final day. The key holder arrived to a much cleaner apartment to when we arrived and told us that the cupboards has streaks and the pots needed putting away. She said it would take 4 hours to clean after our stay and cost more than the original cleaning fee. She took this out of our deposit.

These issues tainted our overall lovely holiday.

Owner's Response: Hello, Thank you for your overall very positive word. I'm just answering your legitimate remarks. Payment, there was ambiguity effectively. Sometimes people pay me by paypal or directly HomeAway, which does not simplify logistics. Regarding the problem you expose, the rule in seasonal rentals in France is that tenants make the apartment as clean as they found it and enjoyed. To do it myself when I stays Matseille I confirm that it must be 3-4 hours to clean the loft. Regarding the beds, we prepare when we are alerted to the desired distribution. Thank you for your candor and so would further improve as far as possible the points on which we can act. Many greetings. / Bonjour, Je vous remercie de vottre motglobalement très positif. Je réponds simplement à vos remarques légitimes. Sur le paiement, il y a eu ambiguité effectivement. Parfois les personnes me payent par le paypal Abritel ou directement, ce qui ne simplifie pas la logistique. S'agissant du problème que vous exposez, la règle dans les locations saisonnières en france est que, les locataires rendent l'appartement aussi propre qu'ils l'ont trouvé et apprécié. Pour le faire moi même quand je séjourne à Matseille je vous confirme qu'il faut bien 3 à 4 heures pour faire le ménage du loft. S'agissant des lits, nous les préparons quand nous sommes avertis de la répartition souhaitée. Je vous remercie de votre franchise et ferais en sorte d'améliorer davantage dans la mesure du possible les points sur lesquels nous pourrions agir. Bien à vous. DT

excellent séjour

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine en plein cœur de Marseille. Accueil très sympathique par Bouthaina, qui nous a donné de très bons conseils et qui connaît parfaitement le quartier. Elle nous a même offert des billets pour le train touristique de Marseille. Merci !!!!

Le forfait-parking des phocéens est vraiment top : 51€ la semaine et à deux pas de l'appartement.

Appartement fonctionnel et agréable, dans un quartier au charme indéniable.

Zentral und schnuckelig

Gute Aufteilung des Hauses: 2 Etagen und eine dachterasse. Unten befindet sich eine Apotheke, den Rest des Hauses hat man für sich allein. Abends werden vor dem Haus Tische aufgebaut, die vom Restaurant gegenüber bewirtet werden. Vom Wohnzimmerfenster aus könnte man auf die Teller spucken 😜. In der ganzen Straße herrscht Leben. Bei offenem Fenster also auch laut (was uns nicht gestört hat). Man sollte gut zu Fuß sein, da viele Treppen sowohl im Haus als auch in der Altstadt!

Vistelse i Marsielle

En rymlig och fräch lgh med en stor altan med utsikt över hustaken i gamla stan och små mysiga matställen i lugn miljö i kvarteret. Närhet till centrum o gamla hamnen och lokal trafik. En trevlig värdinna hälsade oss välkomna och hjälpte oss till rätta under vistelsen.

Excellente semaine passée à MARSEILLE dans un logement très bien situé dans le quartier typique du PANIER. Nadia, la gérante, nous a très bien accueilli et donné des adresses et des conseils judicieux pour notre séjour.

Quelques améliorations au niveau de l'équipement du loft ont été signalées au propriétaire :

1 pichet, 1 théière, 1 poêle anti-adhésive,1 plateau pour monter la vaisselle sur la terrasse et une douchette flexible pour la salle de bains du bas.

Sinon la terrasse est très agréable et nous avons pu en profiter.

Très bien

Le quartier du Panier est typique et vivant. Par sa localisation, il nous a permis de découvrir facilement une grande partie du centre de Marseille (à deux pas du port, du MUCEUM et des docks !!!)

On a vraiment apprécié la location (et sa terrasse)

Le vrai désagrément a été de ne pas pouvoir prendre un abonnement de parking à la semaine à notre arrivée.
