About Marsha & Ken Hobert

We have lived in Glen Haven since 1981 and wouldn't live anywhere else. Glen Haven is a small, private community, outside of Estes Park.It is so beautiful and peaceful with the sound of the river at our doorstep. There are easy trails into the forest following the sound of the river along the way.

Marsha & Ken Hobert purchased this cabin in 1998

Why Marsha & Ken Hobert chose Front Range Colorado

We bought this property in 1998 as a year round rental property and we just turned it into a vacation rental as so many people who have stayed at our other property (VRBO #228250) wanted to know if we had another property with different amenities.

What makes this cabin unique

The best thing about the Glen is the sound of the river and the wonderful, private community. We look forward to personally showing you to the cabin for your relaxing visit. This property has more amenities than our other listing (#228250) with new wood floors, a new washer/dryer, dishwasher, new log bed with new queen mattress, 32" TV, and more. The cabin has wonderful, large windows facing South.

WOW! We cannot express in words (but we will try) how wonderful this little piece of heaven is! It was the perfect place for our family! We loved Glen Haven! Cinnamon roles at the General Store were an added bonus! It was the right place for our busy lives. The cabin, Glen Haven, and RMNP made our lives slow down and enjoy what God has given to us.

#1 priority for me as the mom of my family when we stay somewhere is cleanliness! This was top notch! The cabin had so many added extras. We were impressed with what was all supplied including what's needed in a kitchen. (Wifi, phone, Netflix, movies, books, etc were added bonuses) We loved the washer and dryer, bathroom was clean, and the grill was great! We had picnics during the day when we were out hiking and grilled at night. We only ate out once in Estes during our 5 night stay. We chose to eat like this to escape the hustle and bustle of eating out and to spend more quality time together, but because everything was supplied our packing was a whole lot easier. The deck was great for relaxing. We have teenagers. They slept on the futon and we had the bedroom. Plenty of room for our family of four.

The scenery around the cabin is beautiful. Every night towards dusk we would head out (even after a hiking day) to find wildlife on Devil's Gulch Road which leads to Glen Haven. We were never let down! Numerous elk and deer were out each night. Even saw a bear taking a nap near the edge of the woods. The road leading to Glen Haven and the traveling back to the cabin in the woods is what peacefulness should be.

Ken and Marsha were wonderful to work with. They were very helpful and friendly! We want to say thank you to them for sharing this cabin with our family. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend a stay here! We will be sharing with our family and friends!

Home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Ken & Marsha were great hosts and they were a phone call away if we should have needed them. The town if Glenhaven has history and it was nice to have been ble to support it! The view from the house & deck were so serene and felt like you were in the forest because you were! WiFi and Netflix in the house were available also. Felt like home. The General Store that you will pass daily, at the base of the mountain road you drive up to the cabin, has wonderful (made fresh daily) Cinnomon rolls so it is a must that you get some! The Inn at Glenhaven has an awesome dinner with an amazing Chef so call to make reservations because they fill up fast! Only 18 minutes on Devils Gulch Road is the town of Estes Park and home of the Rocky Mountain National Park, Stanley Hotel and many other ventures! After your long day you can be sure that your cabin is comfortably awaiting you!

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay. It has everything you need to be comfortable and is so clean! The kitchen has all the essentials. The setting is lovely and Ken and Marsha are very helpful. Don't miss the General Store on your way in and out! Great cobbler and cinnamon rolls. Loved our visit!

Perfect cabin located in quiet mountain neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved our time at the cabin! It's cozy, has all the amenities, and only 15 minutes from Estes Park. The owners were very thoughtful and have the cabin stocked with everything we needed -- including kitchen items since I cooked most meals. A truly wonderful vacation in the mountains!!!

Great location, away from the hustle bustle of Estes Park. Small place but with everything you need.

Felt very at home here, nice, quiet neighborhood to walk around in, made day trips to RMNP and Estes Park. Do not recommend driving around there after dark secondary to very winding roads, numerous wildlife. Grill and washer/dryer are a great bonus. Marsha and Ken were great hosts.

Rest at the cabin, or drive 10 minutes to the Visitor Center and catch a free bus to RMNP and hike.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was lovely! Just right for the 2 of us to have slow mornings on the deck, then prepare for hiking. It is only a 10 minute drive to the Estes Park Visitor Center, where we took a free bus into RMNP and then hiked around Bear Lake, Sprague Lake, Alberta Falls, Rocky Mountain Visitor Center and more. We have the lifetime Senior National Park Pass, but I never saw anyone on the bus pay to enter the park, regardless of their age.

The cabin is fully stocked, so not much was needed from home. We bought groceries before we got there, and dinners and breakfasts were easy to make at the cabin. I thought we would need to buy water, but I am glad we didn't. The fresh well water was delicious! And we saved space in our suitcase by using the clothes washer and dryer every few days. After dark, we enjoyed cozy nights watching Netflix movies.

On days we didn't want to go to Estes, we walked around the glen along the north fork of the Big Thompson river. It is a 15 minute casual walk to the General Store (the one with 25 cent black coffee and the famous cinnamon rolls), and there were several other roads to explore and fantasize about which cabin we would like to live in.

Overall, a great experience for both of us. We wanted to see wildlife and we found Elk, deer, a bull Moose!, of course the chipmunks, and birds. And on the last day, a bobcat strolled up the road in front of our cabin. The only thing missing was a bear, but they were around.

Thanks to Marsha and Ken for the memories!
