About the property

The duplex appartement is a cozy setting. When you walk in you have the open kitchen and living room. And a trunk bed of 2 people to sleep. There is also a mezzanine where two children would love to sleep . In the

Why Roosmarijn de Boer chose Saint-Jean-d'Aulps

We love this apartment because it is so close by the piste. Thereby it is in a small village so everybody can do what they want , go where they want without to get lost. But also of the swimming pool & the pingpong table in the building and the ice skating ring and the supermarkt close by in the village. But it is also nice to go to different ski-area's within 15- 20 minutes drive you can go to Montriond and ski into Porte du into Swiss...Parking is easy there. The same for a day of skiing in les Gets or Morzine .

In Summer we enjoy the small stream close by the apartment but also to explore and have beautiful hikes in and around St Jean D'aulps. To go and enjoy the climbpark in Morzine or Les Gets or the lakes like Lake Montriond or in Les Gets with a child climbing wibit in the ofcourse all the oppertunity's for MBT....Too much do to tell it all...

What makes this apartment unique

We love the the 2/3 levels in the apartment. That give it a specious feeling and it has a beautiful view on the hills.

Summer stay in St. Jean d'Aulps

  • 4 of 5

We had a very pleasant 2 week family summer holiday in this apartment in St. Jean d'Aulps. The apartment itself was cosy, clean and very well-equipped. The kids loved the availability of all the games and enjoyed sleeping in the mezzanine, it felt to them like they had their own 'apartment' up there. I myself was very happy with the kitchen and availability of pots and pans and crockery. The balcony is a bit smallish, but great for a family breakfast or afternoon tea. We enjoyed the view over the mountain from there and the birds flying on and off were very entertaining to watch. The swimming pool was a big hit with the kids.

We have never skied ourselves and have never visited a ski area in summer before, so we were not sure what to expect from a summer holiday in the alps. Our expectations have been highly exceeded. There are so many things to do in the area during summer! The ski lifts make the area very accessible and nice for walking, I can highly recommend the walk to/from Pointe de Nyon. We went for a canyoning trip in Cascade de Nyon (booked via Bureau de Guides in Morzine), this was a thrilling adventure!

In Morzine plenty of activities are organised for families during the summer holidays. For both young and older children.

Still plenty of things to be discovered...we will be back (in summer!).

Great family apartment for a low hassle family ski trip

  • 5 of 5

We really loved the apartment, it felt like you were borrowing a friends house, there were games for kids and adults, lots of comfy seating, plenty of beds and bedding, loads of equipment and crockery in the kitchen. The apartment is warm and clean, it has a great view down the valley and is very suited to families. The pool was a big bonus. For us the proximity to the ESF for the kids and the bubble up to the learners plateau worked out fantastically. I would highly recommend it.

Great apartment walking distance to lifts at St Jean

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in Saint Jean, the weather and snow were great - more like Spring Skiing! ❄️☀️

The apartment was set over 3 levels and felt very spacious. Can sleep 8 but think that it would be challenging to share 1 bathroom with that many people.

The beds we comfy and all bedding and towels brand new. Apartment is nicely furnished and has everything you need for a family holiday. Easy walk to small supermarket, few restaurants and the ski lifts in Saint Jean. We drove to other resorts in Portes du Soleil each day to access bigger ski areas, but a choice of different resorts only a short drive away.

Owner Roos was very helpful whenever we had any issues. We recommend this property and hope to come back soon.

Our short break ski trip to the Porte de Soleil

  • 4 of 5

The apartment in La Grande Terche near the village of St Jean D'Aulps is close (1.5 hours) from Geneva airport and so is a great location if you want to ski in the Porte de Soleil as it is a short drive (less than 20 minutes) to Ardent and Nyon. Unfortunately due to the lack of snow before our trip, the ski area at La Grande Terche was not fully open but when it is it makes for an excellent morning or afternoon of skiing.

The apartment itself is spacious and nicely decorated and could easily accommodate 8 people although there were only 4 of us. It was very nice not to have to bring our own towels and sheets!

We did manage to turn the heaters on - it was my mistake that I turned the switch in the fuse box off!

A couple of small points - the apartment would benefit from a small dishwasher and the markings on the oven were faded which made it a little difficult to work out what each setting was.

Due to the lack of snow before our trip, we spent Thursday afternoon, Friday and Saturday mainly in Avoriaz but due to the heavy snow on Friday and Saturday we skied in Morzine and Les Gets on Sunday in excellent conditions. There is a big supermarket on the outskirts of Montriond on the way back from skiing and there is a good bar for apres ski in St Jean D'Aulps on the way back to La Grande Terche. In La Grande Terche itself, there are two ski shops, a mini market, a couple of bars and restaurants and so you can choose whether to eat in or out - we did both. If more choice for an evening out is required then Morzine is not far away.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay in your apartment and hope to return in the future.

On se croirait dans un chalet!

  • 4 of 5

Superbe duplex, décorait avec goût. Prix accessible.

Ce n'est pas trop loin des pistes mais c'est en pente donc lès enfants en bas âge avec les skis sur le dos s'en plaignent.

Bref je reviendrais avec plaisir.

In winter the village of St Jean Station/ La Grande Terche is busy, the ski shops are open, a small supermarkt is open, 2 or more restaurants are open and of course the lift is open whole week....And if you want to explore Porte Du Soleil for skiing or snowboarding you only have to drive 15-20 minutes to Montriond /Les Ardents (easy to park) or to Morzine or Les Gets...and you can ski all round in Porte du Soleil.

In Summer you have to go to St Jean village for the supermarkt or to the carrefour (it is about 10 min drive). In La Grand Terche/ST Jean Station there;re two restaurants open on certain days and there's also a take away that is open almost everyday of the week... The lift is only running 1 day a week.

So in Summer it is more quiet and it is nice to enjoy a stream close to the apartment or the hikes nearby St Jean d'Aulps or enjoy the mountain biking, the climbparks or the rockclimbing or the lakes ....really a lot to do....
