Sleeps 7. Fully equipped kitchen. Sliding doors go out to a deck on the back of house with grill. Master bedroom has king size bed, with television in room. Bathroom and walk in closet. The other bedroom has queen size bed, small closet, television you can watch dvds on, and bathroom with shower, washer, and dryer. We have directv. Mother in-law's side has bedroom and living area. Bedroom has queen bed with shower and toilet. Living area has television, 2 couches, 1 is a pull out bed. It has a microwave, small refrigerator, toaster, and coffee pot. Sliding door in bedroom goes out on deck. There is a large deck about 40' from house you can also relax on and enjoy the view. We have a sitting area with a fire pit so you can enjoy the evenings outside at night. There is a community boat dock you can go to if you want to swim or go fishing. We catch a lot of crappie and catfish. There are other fish but we only fish for crappie and catfish. Ski alley starts by the boat dock, so if you enjoy skiing this is the spot. Our home is in a small sub-division 8 miles from Hiway 9. If you love nature and the great outdoors we are the last house in the sub-division and are surrounded by 3,000 acres of undeveloped property and wildlife. Bring your ATV and go exploring, but no hot rodding. We have a few fishing holes with trails leading to them for more seclusion or just toodle around and enjoy getting away from it all.
We're from Elk City, Oklahoma. We were looking for a lake home and found this one. We love it. We get up in the mornings to this great view. I love being away from all the traffic and noises of the city. It's our own little paradise. We've worked hard all our lives in the oilfield and now we can get away from it all. I grew up in Cali and missed the ocean. Debbie grew up in Elk City and loves Oklahoma, so this is our compromise. We both love it here.
Terry and Debbie Teague purchased this chateau / country house in 2012
Let me begin by saying the view of the lake from the house is great and I really liked the kitch/liv/dining open floor plan. The fishing was great too.
The layout of the rest of the house is unusual. There is no central bathroom. Bathrooms are located in the bedrooms so if you don't occupy one of the bedrooms you have to bother the ones that do in order to take a shower or use the toilet.(awkward) The "mother in law" bed & bath are all 1 room. The toilet is in a cubby hole with no door or even a curtain for some kind of privacy. The shower is next to the toilet and the sink next to the shower, all facing the bed. A sliding glass door allows access to the deck but also exposes the whole room to the outside. There was a vertical blind that could be pulled but slats were missing so anyone walking by or using the deck had a nice view of you emerging from the shower, getting dressed, etc...
If you are going for the fishing be sure to find out the rules for the dock. We were chided by the owner for not following the rules he failed to explain to us. Also the stairway going down to the dock was washed out by the flooding making it a little difficult to reach. Hopefully it's fixed by now.
Finally, when you make reservations make sure you print a copy of all the info regarding the house. When we made ours, check-in time was 3pm and check out was 1pm. We called about an hour before check in when we arrived at the lake and was told we couldn't go there until 5 to 6pm. We were told the info was on the website. When we went back and looked at the website, the check in time had been changed to 5pm and check out was 12pm. We had not been notified of the change and with out a print out we had no proof of the time change. This was our first time using this type of rental service so you learn as you go.
After all this I honestly have to say we had a really good time. The kids and adults both really enjoyed the time there. If you are looking for a secluded, private place with a great view, good fishing and a few inconveniences (my opinion) this is the place, just be prepared for a long bumpy ride getting there. lol
We (my husband and I, two teenage sons, and my parents) stayed four nights at this place--loved it! Two bedrooms, each with it's own full bath, plus a "mother-in-law" suite (with separate entrance, living room, small fridge, sink, microwave, shower, etc) allowed separate parties to relax and enjoy both time together as well as apart. Both living rooms, the main one and the mother-in-law suite, have a couch that folds out into a bed.
This house is FULLY stocked--literally just bring clothes and food! Everything down to a crockpot, most seasonings, DVDs, laundry detergent (comes with washer/dryer), decks of cards, coffee filters, shampoo/conditioner, etc is provided. We overpacked "just in case", but will know better next time.
The views were by far my favorite part of this place; beautiful!! Sitting atop a steep hill overlooking the lake, it is gorgeous! There is a large deck off the back, another large deck down the hill a bit along a rock path and lots of really nice landscaping; rose bushes and crepe myrtles in bloom during our stay were nice.
When we weren't on our boat, there is a nice boat dock with multiple slips (shared by others; only one available to tenants). We enjoyed spending some time fishing, swimming, sunbathing and watching some sunsets there.
Though this is called "ski alley", the place was very peaceful. We stayed Wednesday-Sunday; Saturday was the only day there were a lot of boaters going back and forth, but wasn't bothersome in the least. Other than that, very quiet and peaceful.
I will say, it is a long drive down a rough dirt road to get to this place. But once you get there, you won't want to leave anyway.
My husband, myself and our 2 children stayed here with another couple and their child. The layout of the house worked very well for multiple families, there was plenty of room to move around. The views were awesome, there is a nice deck to sit out on and enjoy the sunrise/sunsets. There was also everything you needed in the kitchen, just bring your food. A couple of downfalls is that the road to get there is very rural, do not pull your boat down it. And since the lake level was high it was difficult to get out to the boat slip and there is not a swimming area unless you swim off the boat dock. But all-in-all it's a nice place with a nice cove to ski in and to relax in your boat.
If you love fishing, skiing, and getting in tune with nature this is the place for you. Bring your ATV and boat and have tons of fun. Ski alley is right in front of home. Join in on all the fun of water activities going on in front of home or just sit back in one of our sitting areas and watch all the fun. Walk to boat dock and fish. Catfish and crappie fishing is great from dock. If you want more privacy jump in boat or vehicle and just a short cruise to a more secluded area. We have all kinds of wildlife scurrying around. Foxes, squirrels, deer, raccoons, and all kinds of birds. Eagles are seen flying around from the animal refuge across from our home. We've seen otters swimming about.
