This home was originally owned by Mark's parents for almost 20 years, and was sold when they decided to retire "in town". The home was then owned and enjoyed by the Hinkle family. As their kids grew older, they decided to sell the cabin back into the Wallace family. Mark and Monique Wallace purchased the home in March, 2015. The Wallace's are a Clemson Tiger family, and Monique's family (minus Monique and her two daughters) remain in California- to support the Medby family UCLA heritage and Monique's alma mater. Mark and Monique met in Indiana and lived briefly in the Chicago suburbs, as owners of Moveable Feast in Geneva, IL. Now back in Indianapolis and Minneapolis, and freezing most of the time, they decided to put down roots by buying the family cabin so the Southern boy and the California girl could make lots of new memories together with their children and grandchildren.
Monique Wallace purchased this cabin in 2015
There are a lot of fabulous memories in the home, and the vibe here is warm, welcoming and nourishing. Our home is also a tremendous value, as it is an entire lake front home with private dock with all the amenities, a new 2nd bathroom (remodeled in January 2017) and every room updated with well appointed furnishings, for under $200 a night! We also include many kitchen and bath supplies (a value of at least $100!). Many celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and we have several bride's prepare for their weddings at Chattooga Belle Farms in our home. We also have hosted several international travelers. The lake house is a peaceful and comfortable place for your retreat. It is a place to create your own memories. We recognize this and would be honored to be your special home away from home.
We not only love this home because it is rich in Wallace family memories, (there may be a few carved out names on a small desk in the corner...) but because it is just the "right amount of far enough away". Every amenity you can think of surrounds the area, but at night the stars are bright and chirps and clicks and fire crackles and the faint sound of moving water and wind all around you is all you can hear. One of Mark's favorite thing to do is to go out to the middle of the lake at night and look at the brilliance of the Milky Way and we frequently dance on the dock! Be sure to enjoy this lasting memory for yourself!
Mr M, I take your complaints very personal and unbelievable! I was the guest that stayed before you got there. I am calling your complaints BS! My family of four stayed there for four nights. NEVER not once did we experience ANY smells or odors that were unpleasing or bothersome. The leaky tub Monique told us of and so it was expected. They are replacing it on their slow time of the year. With another tub and shower available, 4 adults had no problems with staying clean. The hot tub was great! If you had to scoop something out with your hands then that was by your choice since there is a skimmer in perfect condi tion on your right side in the corner. Mr. M, look at ALL the other comments and there is not ONE that states anything remotely close to what you are stating. This home is a cabin on the lake in the nature of woods. Its beautiful, clean, relaxing and calming just to be there. I agree with Monique which is wonderful, kind and always professional to deal with. I would not have refunded your money either since it seems that your situation seems to be the only one that states something about odor. I believe this was something personal that you and your wife experienced. With being the guests that was there BEFORE you, I will honestly and firmly stand by the awesome experience we had and have already scheduled another visit in November. I too have been a member of VRBO for years and I don't think I would take my hard earned money and spend more time at a home that I was not extremely happy with. Working in the medical field for over 20 years, I would highly suggest that you and y our wife be tested for allergies. Seems like you both have a very sensitive situation that can be helped with medication. In my opinion Mr. M, sounds like you were trying to get something for nothing but lets not judge! Good luck with your adventures. Hope you and your wife are feeling better.

What a beautiful lake house! The surrounding foothills, lake, and forest are serene! If you're looking for a "getaway" that's still a fully functioning modern home, this place is for you! Cabin enough to feel rustic, modern enough to be very comfortable!
We had a fabulous stay at this house for the 2017 New Year. The owners were very accommodating allowing our three dogs to stay with us. The house was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The master bed was very comfortable. The master bath was amazing. Windows all throughout the house to oversee the lake. Can wait to get back to actually get in the kayaks to check out the lake and to fish. We highly recommend this house.
Had a great time! Stunning views, a warm and inviting cabin and lots of quiet time. It was nice to have quiet time or a little noise (in the form of cable tv and internet, when we wanted it). The best of both worlds. Would definitely come back again.
This lake house was beautiful. It was really easy to find, although make sure you have your maps loaded because once you get in the area, you will be out of service. Which was fine with me and the rest of our group because the WiFi was amazing and provided all 4 of us with high speed searches for whenever we needed to go somewhere. The beds are super comfy and you will find everything you need in the home; from towels, to bug spray, to visit guides, it is all there. We spent 3 days here and our days were filled. One of my favorite things about this cabin, is the kayaks that are provided. We loved waking up early and getting out on the water to watch the sunrise, or coming back from a hike and watching the sunset. It is a super calm, clean lake that makes it easy to paddle on. The first full day we were there, we went and hiked in North Carolina. The second day we went and saw waterfalls. Both days we only drove about 40min from the cabin, and that was mostly because in order to get somewhere you have to drive through the mountains, which result in slower speeds. I definitely recommend you visiting Brysons U-Pick Apples if you are in the area! We went and loved it. Overall, I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking to stay in South Carolina.
As soon as we walked in we were so happy with how this place made you feel right at home. The views of the lake are wonderful. The bedroom was great beds were comfortable. The master bath with the claw foot tub was such a nice touch to this place, with the hot tub right out the door couldn't ask for anything better. The kitchen is a little small but very functional we were able to make our meals with no issues. (We like to cook and forgot to bring our chef knife but was able to make out with what was there.) There is a gas grill on the deck that works great. We ate our meals out on the deck overlooking the lake as the weather was great. She has mums out in the little courtyard in the front which I enjoyed. A washer and dryer are available which is nice.
The lake is wonderful me and my husband fished off the dock and up and down the lake with great success we did throw them back but was so much fun to catch catfish and blue gill (very nice size ones). The location is wonderful if you like to hike their are a lot of waterfalls and other nice hiking trails. (a book on waterfalls is in the house by TV with good directions). This is our second visit the this lake and just love it.
We stopped on our way in at Ingles grocery store and was able to get everything we needed. There is a general dollar store with lots of things you may need if you forget anything close to the house. They also have some items available for purchase which is a nice touch they really have this figured out.
If you are looking for a nice peaceful, relaxing, stress free vacation in a cozy cabin this place is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot say enough about this home, so before I wrote this review, I looked at what other reviewers had to say. Everyone except for one bizarre review from what appears to be a scam ( I can assure you the review from Mr. M is ridiculous and untrue), loves this home almost as much as I do! Honestly, I felt almost guilty paying such a small amount for a lake home such as this one, with so many amenities, and beautiful and quite expensive furnishings. Not to mention, the house was impeccable. Spotless. Clean. I HAVE NEVER STAYED IN A CLEANER AND MORE BEAUTIFULLY FURNISHED HOME ON THE RENTAL CIRCUIT! I called Monique to inquire as to where she purchased her rugs, furniture and linens and if she would come to decorate my home! Turns out, she was a decorator prior to being a chef! (this explains why the kitchen is so well stocked!). One of my favorite things was sitting in the jacuzzi. A beautifully maintained spa, on a deck under the stars was a special treat. I also loved the infrared grill, and plan to purchase one soon. As a single traveler, and a woman (there for a wedding nearby), I also felt extremely safe in this gated community with active and friendly neighbors living nearby year-round. As the bride's sister, I had a small gathering at the home and the home had everything I needed to entertain 15 people. Every one of my guests raved about the house! They found the guest bathroom charming, even though it is the last remaining room to be be renovated and has sweet wallpaper and a vintage linoleum floor. It is actually really cute and speaks to the lovely history of the house. The second bathroom is not even needed in the home with the stunning master bathroom, but Monique shared with me she is remodeling the small second bathroom in early December and her plans sound like the remodel should be in a Southern Living magazine! I am certain that if I fished or was a lake person I would have really been in heaven, but the sunsets made me feel like I was in a heavenly place. I am an avid renter on all of the rental sites with my extreme travel schedule, and this home's comfort, inviting, secluded and beautiful everything is on the top of my list of places I have stayed. Thank you Monique and I plan to move in!
2 bedrooms with queen size beds and smaller bedroom with a bunk bed. 2 full bathrooms; completely updated master is quite large with sunk in claw foot tub. 2nd bathroom remodeled in January, 2017!
