Great location, nice and quite and property larger than photos suggest.

We wanted to stay somewhere with easy access to trails, this property was 100m from trails so very good access. The property was clean and well equipped and we were treated by a welcome hamper which was nice. There is a local tea room which sells milks and other basics. The local pub has great beer and cider; the food is ok and the locals on a Sunday are very friendly. The Pheasant Inn which is on the main road and 10 minutes walk from the cottage has much nicer food, but beer is not so good.

If you are there to cycle there is nowhere to store bikes.

A minor detail, which the owner cant do anything about is the street light next to the bedroom, which floods the bedroom with light.

We would stay again if in the area again.

Fantastic little property really well located for family.

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with the property and the location, just a few yards from the local village pub was superb. The food and welcome in the pub was fantastic and the range of gluten free food on the menu puts most other pubs to shame.

A few more utensils in the kitchen (sieve, more knives and ovenware) would be really great but otherwise can't complain.

Already looking to go back to Kielder area again but sadly this property is not available for the dates we are looking at.

Definitely recommend to anyone with small family as the children's bedroom was really well setup.

About 5 minute drive to Kielder water and plenty to see and do there.

Lovely cottage in the national park

  • 5 of 5

It was wonderful to arrive at this cottage after a very long drive. Everything was spotlessly clean, comfortable and attractive and roomier than we had imagined. We appreciated the extra touches like the torches, the welcome basket and the large selection of DVDs. Our sons voted it the best property that we have stayed at. We had a wonderful week in the area including long walks at Kielder Water and Hadrian's Wall. There was a friendly welcome at the local pub too.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely comments. I’m so glad your sons found the cottage such a great place to stay! We’d love to welcome you all back for more walks around the area, just north of Kielder has some great walking places with remote bothys dotted around and deer filled forests.

Cosy cottage, perfect for both families and couples

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time in the cottage, staying over the Easter bank holiday weekend. The cottage is very well-appointed and has some lovely touches, such as the games, toys, books and kid's dvds. My toddler loved everything. Having no wifi or phone signal was perfect, if that's what you're looking for. The village is very small and peaceful. There is a lovely garden but we didn't get to sit out and enjoy it as we didn't get great weather. However I hope to go back and enjoy the garden in the summer months, it will be lovely to sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet during the light nights.

Lovely comfortable cottage

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is lovely, bigger than the pictures suggest and really nicely furnished. There is a telescope but with street lights right by the cottage you would have to travel to use it. Sunday morning breakfast at The Black Cock was great. The cottage is miles from the nearest shop but Tesco will deliver so we ordered in advance for delivery when we arrived. The nearest petrol station is also miles away. Although it says there is no mobile signal EE works at the bottom corner of the garden but coverage in the area is very patchy. The area is very scenic but the weather was not kind to us although we knew that was a risk booking in November we cut our trip short when after 4 days of heavy rain & with local roads flooding it started to sleet.
