Why Sandee Schultz chose Adirondacks

It is not every day that an historic Adirondack Great Camp comes on the market, and at first sight, we fell in love with Fieldstone. Driving down a long, windy, private drive through a mature forest and coming upon the compound on the shores of Fourth Lake provokes a very special feeling- and one immediately feels that this is 'the place'. The lake and the view is perfect and the buildings nestle into the environment in a natural and unobtrusive way, consistent with the best Adirondack tradition.

What makes this house unique

This VRBO listing is for Lake House, the 4- season main house at Fieldstone and other buildings- The Lodge, North Cabin and Caretaker's Cabin- are also available for rent, thus making Fieldstone a unique rental property for large families and groups, including family reunions and corporate getaways sleeping up to a total of 34. Up to 10 boat storage with 5 docks. plenty of room for an event tent and camper storage.

A wonderful Fall getaway. Inspiring!

  • 5 of 5

Old Forge in the Fall is living poetry. Staying at the historic Fieldstone, I really made the most out of my weekend adventure. It was nice to turn off the cell phone and recharge with a beautiful view of Fourth Lake. I enjoyed some hiking during the day and caught a film in one of my favorite cinemas nearby, the classic Strand Theatre. The Fieldstone Lodge is such a comfortable experience. Highly recommended!

Perfect spot for our weekend warriors!

  • 5 of 5

The Fieldstone is perfect spot for our group of weekend warrior type mountain bikers. The lodge is the perfect Adirondack basecamp for our weary troop to return to after a day of adventure on the trails in the area. We couldn’t help but smile everytime we returned from our daily adventures to a warm and comfortable classic Adirondack atmosphere. Soo relaxing and close enough to the water for a quick refreshing dip after a hard day riding trails! Can’t wait to come back this summer!

Love it here!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the whole property for my entire family and our dogs. It was perfect! There was plenty of space for everyone. It was great to have two kitchens between the Lodge and the House so we could have large family dinners together. Everything was clean and the cleaning lady who came on our final day was nice enough to let us stay a little late! We loved how rustic and historic everything was, it was the perfect setting for our family reunion and we look forward to coming back in the future. Fourth lake is gorgeous and Old Forge is such a nice little town!

A wonderful summer experience

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Fieldstone Lodge was one to remember. The lodge was very clean and spacious enough for the largest of groups. Right off the water, swimming, wading and boating was easily accessible. The grounds are well taken care of and the communication with property staff was quick and polite. I will definitely be reserving another vacation this September!

The Lodge

  • 1 of 5

This Lodge was nothing less than horrible. It was dirty, with an outdated kitchen that had no modern appliances, like a dishwasher. The toilets were deplorable, and overflowed easily. There was no television reception, and the overhead fans did not work. We were advised not to use the heater on a cool night, because it could cause a fire. Despite being told otherwise, there was no garbage pickup, so we were required to drive eight miles to the town dump or incur a hefty, landlord-imposed penalty. The dock was rickety, with the path down to it dangerous.

We were told that all of the information was on a web site, but when we tried to find it, it had been taken down.

Owner's Response: The lodge is old, not dirty. Cleaning people are in weekly. The toilet issue was addressed within an hour. It was found that someone was flushing items inappropriately. Please remember you r in the adirondaks. Our kitchen is well equipped without dish washer. There is not garbage pickup in oldforge. We all use the transfer station. It would be a disaster with all the wildlife if we just left it out to be picked up. The paths to the docks(which are new) are dirt, stone ,or grass. It's a lovely pathway. The old heater is for aesthetics's so we provide wood for the fireplace. Remember. This is july. The lodge is a seasonal rental. We do pay for internet and have Apple TV. If the signal gets weak, it is beyond our control. Our website for fieldstone lodge is up and does have all the information there. This is an historic great camp, and we strive to keep it as original as possible.

Adirondack Park is the largest park in the lower 48 states and the largest National Historic Landmark. It encompasses much of northeastern New York. There are more than 3000 lakes, 30,000 miles of streams and rivers and more than 2000 miles of hiking trails. Fieldstone Lodge lies on the north shore of Fourth Lake, the largest lake of the Fulton Chain, created by the damming of the Moose River at Old Forge Dam. The natural beauty of the area is inspiring and the recreational activities seemingly limitless- both Summer, Winter and in between. The Hamlet of Old Forge is less than 15 minutes drive from Fieldstone.
