Clean, well equiped and a breathtaking view of the Seine !
The apartment was very nice and the view was lovely, but it failed to mention that the apartment is directly in front of a cement factory - which meant noise all day. Also, it was relatively near the subway and had nice restaurant, bar and shopping near by, BUT is was not well located for sightseeing the main attractions in Paris.
We stayed four nights in this little apartment. The property is exactly as it was described: a one-bedroom flat with a good-sized living room, a small balcony, and a perfectly usable kitchen. The view out of the bedroom windows and living room balcony is of the Seine, and is lovely. The flat is not air-conditioned, as almost nothing in Paris is, but the nights were cool, even in July; Americans won't miss the AC. Everything is well-maintained, although the labels are worn off the buttons on the dishwasher, and we never learned to use it.
The landlady, Claire, was very pleasant and was always either available by phone or called back quickly after we left a phone message. She speaks English with just enough French in it to be charming. We never met Mario, the caretaker, but he left the key hidden for us as he said he would. Claire was very nice when we arrived, even though we arrived close to 11PM after a 13-hour delay in our flight.
The location is wonderful for anyone who wants a low-key experience of Paris. There is traffic noise, but it isn't bad on the 6th floor. The flat is a 3-block walk from the Bibliothèque François Mitterand stop on the Metro; we never used anything but RER trains and Metro to get around. There is a boulangerie on the same block, and a pizza place with homemade panna cotta for dessert. A bookstore is two blocks away.
For any Asterix fans out there, the street on the east side of the building is Rue René Goscinny, and has little quotes from his books on signs all around.
We would come back here in a heartbeat, and recommend it to friends and family. If you stay here, consider getting a Paris Visite Pass at the airport when you arrive. It allows you unlimited travel on the Metro and RER trains, which are easy to use, especially if you also get a Paris Metro app on your phone.
This was a decent value near the Bercy section. Very functional apartment that is better for three than four. But it might work if two of the fur are smalll kids. There is a bakery near the entrance to the building and a grocery store three blocks up the hill from the Seine. But the cool area near this apartment is across the river in Bercy, where you have a park and a cool selection of restaurants. The best time to rent the place is over a weekend when the Seine is relatively quiet. During the week, the concrete plant along the banks of the river gets started around 8 a.m.
We had a wonderful stay. Coming from the States in the summertime with kids, it was particularly nice to be able to shut out the daylight when we needed to sleep and get ourselves adjusted to the timezone. Particularly for the kids.
The neighborhood is great, with lots of little playgrounds and a grocery store within a couple of blocks, even a water station for refilling water bottles. The bakery downstairs was a bonus! Across the Seine, the Parc Bercy has lots to explore - playgrounds for younger and older kids, and fun eating, shopping, and entertainment areas. And, of course, it is right next to the BnF if you are doing any research (that's why I chose it).
As for the apartment itself, there was plenty of space for a family of four. The kitchen is well-appointed, as is the bathroom. Everything was comfortable and it was a real pleasure looking out at the Seine every morning and evening from the small balcony. The gardien was kind and helped us get settled... he was there to meet us upon arrival. And Claire was quick to answer our calls and questions and very helpful when we asked to check out late. She certainly made accommodations wherever she could. Unfortunately for us, the flooding of the Seine had made the elevator out of service for most of our trip, but it was up and running again when we had to move out. It is nice to have! But even with a seven story walk-up, it was still well worth the stay. We'd definitely come back.
True Parisan experience. Very nice comfortable apartment with everything needed to enjoy the City of Lights. Perfect location. We will stay again on our next trip to Paris.
