Overview

About the property

Tucked away at the end of a quiet courtyard within the moorland town of Buckfastleigh, a unique and peaceful 18th Century former Stables and Tucking Loft.

Immediately upon entering the property, you arrive in the glass roofed Orangery - a beautiful, bright room where you can enjoy a drink or read a book surrounded by fruit trees and flowering plants. This leads directly into an open and character filled lounge with revealed wood beams and wood burner offering a relaxing, cosy environment.

In one corner sits a baby grand piano which can be played to ones hearts content.

There is a full package of entertainment available with our 48" Curved Ultra HD Samsung Flatscreen TV, including the full SKY package (inc. Movies, Sports, Documentaries) plus BT Sports. With 4K Blueray, Wifi and a selection of DVD's & Books mean there is always something to do even if the weather is against you.

Open plan lounge-diner leads into the bespoke, country cottage kitchen with terracotta floor tiles. A rear door leads to a secluded, stone-walled courtyard with patio table & chairs for long summer evenings outdoors.

The Chapel Room downstairs leads from the lounge area and accommodates couples or 2 singles. With wood beams and stone walls, this room has some unique features including circular window, granite post and Suffolk latch doors. Up the open staircase leading onto a 1st floor landing, the family bathroom benefits from luxury full hydrotherapy bath with spa jets, lighting and shower wand.

Feature walls and beams, again make this a bathroom to spend time in. From the landing, the large master bedroom opens up to reveal the heritage of the Old Stables. Twisted oak beams, vaulted ceilings and complimentary antique furniture make for a truly romantic experience.

enjoyable stay- delightful entrance, plants, bright and inviting

  • 5 of 5

The whole cottage felt warm and inviting, everywhere was clean and owners must have taken a great deal of time and care choosing the decor and furnishings. The grand piano was a lovely touch and our grandson when he called loved playing us a tune. I have made just a few helpful suggestions to the owners, ie a shower and an additional wc would be the icing on the cake. Will certainly book again. Krystyna Martin

you can park at the bottom of the road if space or further up the road and the old stables is behind a big grey gate go down past a few other houses tucked away at the end.

Was raining most of the time during are stay but in the summer this would be a lovely area to explore. Had all utensils you needed to cook fridge/freezer everything working perfectly, just like the pictures couldn't fault it would stay again

A Big Thank You to Steve that he offer us extra 3 nights complimentary to stay until we could savely drive back home. We highly recommend and definitely we will come back in the summertime!

Peaceful. We enjoyed a wander to the health food shop, gift & charity shops. Friendly folk too :)

The Old Stables is beautiful. We enjoyed the log burner and my daughter enjoyed playing the piano. We were delighted by the orange tree in the entrance hall. Then the Christmas tree!

This very comfortable and homely cottage was warm. It has great bed linen and everything is spotlessly clean. The welcome basket was received with thanks. The ambience in the whole cottage is a delight. Thank you for helping to make our winter break a very memorable one. Loved it!
