Cozy 2-bed/2- bath mountain cabin under the pines that is steps away from Tahquitz Peak, Southridge Trail, Humber Park and Ernie Maxwell hiking trails. You won't believe what's right outside the front door! Amazing location for the perfect getaway yet close to town. This home has lots of windows and unlike most cabins that are typically dark inside, this cabin has plenty of sunlight beaming through with gorgeous views of the mountains and surrounded by pine trees. Ideal for a couple, yet set up to sleep 4-5 people comfortably. We love pets! Our fully fenced in yard offers your dog plenty of room to roam. (Sorry but we do not allow cats due to allergies.)
This Property features a spacious one bedroom with a comfortable loft that serves as 2nd bedroom/office, separate dining room with views, very large outdoor deck, 2 bathrooms, washer & dryer. Free Wi-Fi, Direct TV and Netflix. Fully fenced-in yard for dogs and parking spaces.
We currently live in Palm Springs Ca. I was introduced to Idyllwild for my birthday in 2013 and fell in love with this mountain town. A year later we were lucky enough to purchase this summer home near Tahquitz Peak and get up there every chance we get. Being so close to all the hiking trails was a total surprise! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Mark Skiles purchased this cabin in 2014
As I said, we wanted a place to escape the hot summers of Palm Springs . This home was perfect in every way. Location is close to town, hiking trails right out of the front door and of course the views of the peaks. It has amazing energy & lots of sunlight. The minute I walked in the door I knew it was going to be our home.
The high ceilings, views of the pine trees, the warmth of sun through all of the windows made this place unique for us. It's small and cozy and perfect for that place to get away from it all. The wood burning stove in the winter is an added plus for those cold nights. Also, we have a large German Shepherd named Cal who loves the back yard.
It was the perfect little cabin. Clean, better than advertised, and Mark was very helpful. We will return!
The house looked just like the pictures. It's located on a nice quiet street. I found everything in working order, except the bathroom sink. The drain was clogged with hair which made it impossible to use. In that same bathroom the shower was overrun by ants. Every morning I had to wash them down the drain. Not the worst things, but a definitely an inconvenience. Other than those two problems the house was very comfortable and confidently located near town.
My husband and I were very impressed with this cabin. We both could not believe how CLEAN and CUTE this cabin was. We traveled around SoCal for 10 days and the bed in this cabin was HEAVENLY! but I could easily live on the deck too. We are older and out of shape so we didn't do any hiking however we WILL BE BACK (and in better shape!). Thank you for sharing this lovely CLEAN cabin with us.
Only one word and that is 'Great'
I arrived in the late afternoon after a hectic day of errands, packing, and driving, but when I got out of the car, I was enveloped in silence, the faint whisper of wind in the trees, and the scent of pine. I could feel the tension drain and was reminded of why I love Idyllwild so much.
This home is located in a quiet neighborhood, close to hiking trails, but is only five minutes from town center. The living and dining areas are full of windows so the place is bright. You can see at every turn that you are living in the forest! The deck catches cool breezes and shade in the afternoon. We ate all our dinners out there. Good vantage point to watch the Stellar's Jays and squirrels be squirrelly. Owner provided lots of amenities, even toiletries. Kitchen is small, but well-equipped; dining table seats four. The place has two full baths, a bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, a fold out sofa in living room and twin in loft. There's a fully fenced yard and doggie door if you are so inclined. We rented DVDs in town & bought food at the Fairway Market for our meals, a fun scavenger hunt. (Both are in Post Office shopping center.) We walked from the house to Humber Park via the Ernie Maxwell/Scenic trail and drove to the top of South Ridge Road (10 minutes?) to walk that trail. It winds up to Tahquitz Peak through a varied forest with spectacular views. I loved the home and location and will be back.
We loved our stay here. It's just .6 miles away from Ernie Maxwell trail, so close easy hiking.
The kitchen is well set up and comfortable to cook in. The deck is lovely to come and back and relax on after a day of hiking.
The place is very clean. And the owner answered all of our questions promptly.
