Beautiful New Orleans single, shotgun home with high ceilings, heart of pine floors, cypress doors, beautiful old windows and architectural details. Living room with comfy furniture, couch, chairs and tv. In the bedroom is a queen size bed and armoire. The bathroom is new with shower. Relax on the front porch or walk to watch the bands just a few blocks away. There are many new restaurants, bars, coffee shops and galleries that have opened up in the area to explore.
I've lived in New Orleans for 15 years and love my new hometown! I moved here from Indiana where I ran a vintage clothing store, used record shop and then worked in a battered women's shelter.
Rita Rans purchased this apartment in 2001
I chose to live in this area because of the wonderful mix of neighbors and the closeness to the Quarter where I can walk to Mardi Gras or walk through the centuries old village on a quiet, misty morning. Many wonderful and talented artists, musicians, and other eclectic people live in the neighborhood making it an always inspirational place to visit or live.
There are many wonderful and relaxing ways to enjoy the guesthouse and yet be a quick walk to great bars and restaurants. During Mardi Gras, you can step out on the front porch to watch the pop up parades.
Such an easy rental. From the moment we arrived with all the information we could need to get our vacation started, we knew we had picked the right property for us! Rita was thorough in detail, respectful regarding privacy and easily available for questions. We even got to meet her which was a lovely surprise. I highly recommend this property to any couple wishing to experience NOLA as do the local residents. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful but only a short distance to wonderful food and entertainment. The distant train track provided a train whistle background that my husband and I thought just added to the ambiance and quaintness of our stay. The bed was SO comfortable and the rainhead showerhead delightful. Will definitely stay there again! Hopefully soon.
A much belated review... My boyfriend and I stayed here for Halloween and were thrilled to have found this gem. It was clean, cozy, tasteful, and eclectic in the best way. We were surprised it was bigger than what the photos let on. The bed was super comfy with quality linens and the bathroom had nice light. The place was well designed and tasteful in every detail. It was located in a perfect location on a quiet street with a nice little balcony... walking distance to Frenchman and the Quarter. This was my 3rd trip to New Orleans and I only wish we had more time to explore Faubourg Marigny which in itself is charming to no end. 10 gold stars for this one. Thank you for being an awesome host Rita!
My husband and I stayed here for a few nights in December, and we couldn't have found a better place if we tried. This place is perfect for a couple or small family and it's within walking distance of the French Quarter. The neighborhood is nice and we felt safe walking back and forth at night. Rita is a great host and had the place stocked with necessities, and made us feel comfortable enough that we would have asked her for anything else we needed (which we didn't). I would recommend this place to anyone interested, and once we travel back to NOLA I will for sure look to stay here again!
My wife and I truly enjoyed our recent visit to New Orleans! This is mostly due the awesome accommodations we rented for our stay. The location is definitely convenient to the Quarter, and from there, to the rest of the city. We enjoyed several of the bars and restaurants that are close to the house. The house itself was perfect for us, in the fact that it was cozy and clean. While not huge, it did exactly what we needed and wanted. We made great use of the front porch in the evenings to enjoy a beer, and say hello to folks walking by. We explored the neighborhood on foot, then we'd walk over to the streetcar station and ride around town from there. We are already making plans to return, and will be staying here again! Thanks!
My husband and I stayed here and had a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed exploring the neighborhood and the easy walk over to Frenchman. The house was perfect for the laid-back, but not too far from the action, vacation we were hoping to have. We really didn't want to leave and highly recommend the place to others!
Comfortable and spacious, near enough to Frenchman St, the Quarter, etc., but the street itself is pretty quiet. Places to eat and drink nearby, but walkable to the French Quarter as well. We'd come back.
Within walking distance to the French Quarter, approximately 10-12 blocks.
