The Bunkhouse Lodge is a luxurious retreat for couples and families alike. With its eclectic mix of all things 'cowboy', this lodge is like no other accommodations in Medicine Park! From the ample wrap-around veranda you can see Mt. Scott rising nearly 2,500 ft off the prairie floor. The drive to the top of this piece of granite is one of the best scenic views in all of oklahoma.
Behind Mt. Scott you will find America's first wildlife preserve named the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. Bicycles, kayaks, motorcycles and hiking await your discovery on sixty four thousand acres. You are sure to be impressed with the scenic vistas and historic sites. There are rock formations larger than a small city in this place. You could start the day with a fly rod and a largemouth bass, hike to a natural bridge by noon and end the day with a steak at the Old Plantation restaurant in Medicine Park. If you like watersports we have the famed, granite bottom, blue water Lake Lawtonka, just at the foot of the mountains. You would have to drive eight hours west to see anything like this.
The Bunkhouse was located on an unnamed road, but not anymore. It is now on 'Bunkhouse Road' with an official Comanche County street sign as verifcation. Just behind us are three blue-eyed Gypsy Vanner horses that make their him on two adjacent pastures of the Windsong Ranch and directly behind them are a herd of alpaca.
Eclectic would describe this lodging but it reflects the multi facets of Southwest Oklahoma on a year round basis. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!
We loved the rustic decor. The porch was a brilliant (and well designed and built) add on. There was an incredible storm our first night, the gust of wind did not cause any movement in home or porch. The kitchen was perfect! We All commented on how comfortable our beds were! My dad loved the electric fireplace! My only negative comment-we arrived after dark (it was foggy too) it would have been great if some outside lights had been on for us, the lights on the front gate maybe?
We loved The Bunkhouse! It was an incredible place to be for Christmas Day! We pray that others experience the peace and relaxation that we found at The Bunkhouse. Thank you!
Beautiful place. Very relaxing and peaceful. Well supplied. Highly recommend for any one wanting to get refreshed
First off...HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!!
We had family come in from 3 different states to watch our proud soldier graduate from basic training. HOOAH! Our family from Tampa, Florida; my brother and sister from Ohio; and my other sister from Arkansas. This lovely home had everything we needed to enjoy our family day with our loved one. Even the time we had leading up to it we enjoyed every morning sitting on the beautiful wrap around porch while being greeted by the precious horses who were only about 40 feet away! My city girls couldn't get enough :) The decor is western themed with so many small attention to details that we loved. The owner answered all my questions in a timely manner and was very professional at all times. All in all I wish all "HOMEAWAY OWNERS" were like them :)
They are in a league of their own! "Until we meet again..." GOD BLESS
We had so much fun hiking, kayaking and fishing in the Wichita Mountain Refuge. It was beautiful scenery!! We could have stayed a whole week!! The amenities at the house were perfect!! We had nine people and an infant and we were very comfortable in the Bunkhouse. Each evening we sat around the fire pit and had s'mores. The wrap around porch was perfect for relaxing, eating, playing games or just taking in the beautiful scenery. I would recommend the Bunkhouse!! We will definitely be staying there again!!
I was skeptical at first, we didn't know what we were going to walk into once we got there, but our stay was totally worth it.
I am so thankful I found this place!! We traveled 1100 miles from Ohio to stay in the Bunkhouse!! The home (a modular) was roomy enough for our family of 5 & we could of had more stay, as there was plenty of space. It is so tastefully decorated & we appreciated the verses on the walls! The amenities were perfect; everything we needed and more was provided! We loved petting the friendly horses that came right up to the property. We enjoyed the covered porch at many different times of the day as we watched the training from Fort Sill & we loved the campfire for smores as we listened to the coyotes! They sky was so clear at night & very pretty during the day. Each night, we traveled up to Mount Scott...and each night was different with what was happening at Fort Sill and the sunsets! We did some hiking on the Refuge (reminded us of what an African Safari would look like!) & saw many animals (including a rattlesnake~crossing the road while we were in our car!); swam in Medicine Park while being entertained by the village geese! We spent a hot day at the Lawton Mall & watched movies; then FINALLY spent 2 afternoons with our soldier at Family Day & Graduation! He even came back to the Bunkhouse to relax and eat a home cooked meal!! It was great being only 10 minutes from the base so he could hang out with us :)
The Bunkhouse made us want to relocate to the west someday!
Thank you, Brannon, for working with us and renting your wonderful place to us! I would highly recommend your place to anyone wanting to make a trip to your area!! It was the perfect location!!
