New for this Summer Two Bedroom Rustic Gite...

Overview

About the property

Spacious two bedroom split level accommodation with an open plan kitchen/ dinning room. When we renovated it, earlier on this year, we wanted to preserve as many original features as possible while creating cosy, homey and modern space. We understand that our guests like the country feel but at the same time they don't want to compromise on the familiar comforts and convenient solutions.

We filled up the kitchen with all you may need during your stay. We picked the furniture with comfort in mind. You won't need your towels and the bed linen will make you want to stay in bed for the whole day. If you insist on ruining your holiday by washing, cleaning and ironing we provide all the necessary equipment. You can stay in touch with the world due to a good wifi connection and UK TV. We know that as a family you may want to spend the time together but you may also want to escape and have a me time. That's why both bedrooms are upstairs and the living/ dinning are downstairs. If you want to escape even further there is an outdoor seating area designated only for your use.

If relaxing and watching the sunsets with a glass of wine it's not your thing there is plenty to do around us cannoing; hot air ballooning; sightseing; wine tasting; night Markets in the Summer; off roading; paddle boarding;Vineyard visits the list is endless!! Several Villages around us are classed amongst the most beautiful villages in France. Such as Belves ;Monpazier ;Limeuil or even Cadouin which boast an Abby listed as a UNESCO heritage site.

We are conveniently located 25 min from the airport and Bergerac's Medieval Centre. Should you like to visit the very pretty town of Sarlat we are just under an hour along the Route de Frois Gras. A journey which is very beautiful and I am sure you would like ot stop off at the many villages en route. Villages like Baynac with its Castle. A walk to the top is highly recommended as the view is stunning, the castl itself is also a very interesting visit.

Gites, sunbathing, swimming, relaxing... I'm bored now where can I go what's here to see?

You could quite easily spend the holiday sampling the local cuisine following the duck and the wine route or the colourful markets. There is plenty to choose from but if you are like us, having itchy feet on what was supposed to be a lazy holiday, then I have a great news - we are in the perfect spot to see and experience this beautiful region.

Let's see the spectacular grottoes, visit a châteaux this area is famous for having the most Chateaux's in France ,living history theme park, what about a gothic cathedral or those 17th century gardens near Limoeul.

See the Dordogne from the river while kayaking, canoeing, gorge walking or on the boat trip. What about a view from the hot air ballon or if you are not a big fun of the heights, from the horseback.

Dont forget that the Tour De France will be travelling right through our Village on the 11th of July!!

For those more active take the rucksack, pack your lunch and discover the picturesque villages on foot or on the bike. Climb the rocks or take part in high ropes course at the stunning Chateau du Val with a zip wire over the lake.

And in the evening if you still have some energy left you must go dancing at the local music festival in the village down the road.

About The Owner

Two years ago when we completed our Camino de Santiago hike we felt the time for change came. All of sudden the corporate world and constant chase wasn't for us any more. The more we travelled the more we felt that there was more to life than just endless hours at work and stress. We started to fantasise about a little cottage in the country somewhere close to the nature, somewhere sunny. We tested the waters and looked for the properties and areas and just like that one day this wasn't a dream any more we were living it! We did it!

So here we are embarking on this new journey. We don't know what to expect and we are not sure what the future will bring but we are ready to try because this makes us feel truly alive!

Call it midlife crisis if you like but seating here in the sunshine surrounded by the peaceful beauty, if this is a Crisis I want more!!

The Owner purchased this house in 2015

Why The Owner chose Baneuil

We looked high and low for somewhere to make our base. First we went to Italy around the area where my family came from. Unfortunately it didnt suit all our needs. On the drive home to the UK we drove through the Dordogne and we were hooked!! The Scenery, the people, the food and so much to do!!

What makes this house unique

The search for a property in this wonderous area was lots of fun!! When we came accross this property we were hooked exactly what we were looking for. A house with 8.5 acres of land. Previously home to Kennels for dogs, run down and in need of love an attention. We nicknamed it the "Dog House!" Wonderful views accross the valley and peace. Oh the peace!! I still stand out in the fields and listen to the noise of tranquility. The occasional tractor drives by, but other than only Nature itself breaks the calm.....

A delightful authentic gite in rural France, newly renovated to a high standard, surrounded by acres of grounds, and with open views into the distant sunset. A lovely large swimming pool with sun-loungers and pool towels provided, plenty of sheltered space for eating outside, a well-equipped kitchen and garden produce you can pick yourself – perfect for accompanying the local Bergerac wines! The gite is in easy reach of the airport, with roads that were virtually traffic-free in early July, and there are many lovely places to visit close at hand by car – Bergerac itself, the ancient Bastide villages (including Lalinde), chateaux, vineyards and caves, all set in pretty countryside. There’s plenty to do: shopping in the local markets, walking, cycling, canoeing, eating at local restaurants or dancing the evening away at the night markets. Our two dogs had the time of their lives, running and playing with the hosts’ dog (Bum-bum), with more space and freedom than they had ever known. The hosts – Dan and Iwona - along with Bum-bum and the cats, Bob and George, take a friendly interest in your well-being; they are wonderfully attentive and helpful (Dan cooked a delicious meal for us) and they go out of their way to ensure everything is just as you would like so that you can share the pleasure they take in living in tranquillity and peace in France.

Lovely and calm place, wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the two bedroom gîte for a week in late August and are still charmed and amazed by the time we spent in this brand new gîte and with our hosts Iwona and Dan - without forgetting Bum Bum, Bob, and George. By the way, our daughter (17 months) still asks us, where Bum Bum ("Toutou") is. The place is great, the gîte brand new and arranged with love for the details. The pool is just in front of the gîte's door and there is a beautiful space to have lunch and dinner outside. The location is also perfect in the Périgord Pourpre: within a max 30 minutes drive from the gîte you can visit Bergerac, the Château Monbazillac, the Dordogne loops near Trémolat (Cingle de Trémolat), the Panoramic Garden in Limeuil, Monpazier, and many more.

I was skeptical about the possibility of really getting into holiday mode within just one week, but the switch was instantaneous with Dan and Iwona's warm welcome and the calm and wonderful context! The place is the perfect location for a completely relaxing and easygoing holiday by the pool with visits to Lalinde or a more active holiday with cycling along the Lalinde canal and the many possible sites and villages around.

Thanks to Dan and Iwona for their availability and for making our week at their gîte a wonderful time!
