The apartment is located in the Dorsoduro district, near the Guggenheim Museum, in a very elegant and quiet part of the city. The area is rich in restaurants, bars, antique shops, and art galleries. It also is full of museums: other than the Guggenheim, you have the Galleria dell’Accademia, the Palazzo Cini Gallery, Punta della Dogana, and the beautiful Basilica della Salute, which is traditionally celebrated by all Venetians on November 21st.
The closest waterbus stop is Salute, directly in front of the Basilica, between the stops of Accademia and San Marco. It is a strategic area to visit the city’s main attractions from.
Venice has six districts, known as “sestieri”. The district of Dorsoduro is often referred to as the “Miglio dei Musei”, the Museum Mile. This elegant part of the city, rich in art galleries and artisan shops and boutiques, hosts some of the most important museums in Venice: the Gallerie dell’Accademia, the Guggenheim Museum, the Cini Gallery, and Punta della Dogana.
The Fondamenta delle Zattere, overlooking the Giudecca canal and island, is a perfect promenade to take a stroll and experience some of the most beautiful sunsets, enjoying an aperitif on the water or a dinner in one of the many restaurants in the area.
