About the property

Hand Crafted Elegance

This custom designed home is nestled among beautifully landscaped gardens in a very private setting, and often on the local garden tour. It was designed and built by the owners with comfort and quality at every turn. Reclaimed wood was used to add a personal touch. The house features a unique altar railing from a 19th century local stone church. Much of the reclaimed wood, from vintage buildings, adds to the charming ambiance of this romantic home.

Located 2 1/2 hours from N.Y.C. and 7 minutes from Phoenicia with it's lovely Main Street, restaurants and shops. It is no surprise that the Phoenicia area has become the fastest growing hot spot for weekend and vacation getaways from N.Y.C.

Numerous magazines have written articles and the phrase "The New Hamptons"

has become common.

Tropical deck

Enjoy outdoor dining on a tropical deck overlooking the koi pond and Japanese rock garden. Relax or do yoga with the peaceful, tranquil sound of the waterfall, or visit the stream at the bottom of the driveway. Sit back on the deck in the warm sun on Adirondack chairs or under the roof at the mosaic table made from a wine barrel with it's lazy susan center. A beautiful spot for morning coffee. Or just relax and swing in the hammock.

Living space

The living room (20x30) has a large, soft, comfy sofa. Reclaimed diamond paned windows frame a gorgeous window seat with pillows. Hardwood maple flooring is throughout the home.

The spacious bright kitchen is fully equipped with dual fuel 1500 btu gas burners and an electric convection oven. Full size refrigerator, dish washer, toaster oven, microwave, Kitchen Aid mixer, coffee pot, veggie juicer, blender, food processor,

etc. Two skylights brighten the work area.

Dishes, cookware, utensils, baking supplies all intended for serious cooks. It has a marble work counter and includes a large butcher block centrally located for convenience, there is plenty of counter space. Our dream kitchen!

A true pleasure to create wonderful meals while enjoying the view over the gardens and the new, spectacular stone pizza oven.

Hummingbirds feed at the window 3 feet from the dining area table. Colorful birds feast at other windows.

Bedrooms. (Linens included)

There are 3 newly renovated bedrooms upstairs with views overlooking the gardens and mountains. Two master bedrooms, one with a pillow-top king mattress, the second has a new pillow-top queen mattress. The latter has a very large picture window. When the leaves fall you can see water glistening in the stream with the mountain tops above. The third bedroom has a twin.

There is one bathroom with plenty of hot water and great pressure!

Soap and towels included!

Fast Wi fi and a land line phone are available, as well as cable TV.

The playhouse is adorable, it has a play stove, loft and 2 flip chairs.

Feel free to gently harvest the organic veggie and herb garden.

Sit around the campfire on those cool mountain evenings.

Our well water is fabulous and without sulfur. Family and friends from the city always take some home!

Week in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Laura and Vinnie's home was everything we hoped it would be. Their beautiful home was a lovely place for our family to spend days relaxing and playing. Laura and Vinnie were both very helpful and were quick to help out with any questions we had a long the way. Laura went out of her way to help us arrange local activities for our kids that made the stay extra special and Vinnie made sure the pizza oven and fire pit were prepped and ready to light up as soon as we arrived. The gardens around the house are well loved and spacious which made picnics in the grass, shooting hoops on the court or swinging in the hammock daily staples for the whole visit. Loved it start to finish.

This was our second visit to this lovely home and it was just as splendid as the first time. Our girls were delighted to come back to the playhouse and drums. We all enjoyed the nature and towns immensely and relaxed around the house. Thank you Laura and Vinnie! We hope to be back again.

Owner's Response: It was heartwarming to hear how appreciative you were in our correspondences during your stay and especially your kind words in the guestbook. It was truly our pleasure to have you and your family. I was also happy to hear that the children loved skiing at Belleayre and that on your way home you went back for a half day before your trip home. Thank you for leaving the house in perfect condition. We look forward to your return one day in the warmer months so the children can observe even more nature and you will be able to enjoy the gardens and flowers.

A special place

  • 5 of 5

This is my first time writing a review like this and I normally don't review, well, anything. But this place is a true gem. We have stayed in many houses in the Catskills over the years and this was by far our favorite. The house has plenty of privacy but is in close proximity to Phoenicia and other great spots. The owners have clearly put their heart and soul into the house, and it shows. From its lush herb and vegetable garden to the unique hand-built interior, this house is special and makes a nice getaway for a family or couple. My daughter absolutely adored the playhouse and we spent many memorable hours on the basketball court and outdoor patio. And the outdoor pizza oven! I could go on. But what makes the place truly unique is the owners. They are not simply giving you a place to stay for the night but allowing you into their home with open arms (and in our case, some delicious brownie pie and homemade granola!). Thank you guys for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: I can't express enough what a pleasure it was to welcome you into our home. Especially the fact that you noticed and appreciated every bit of special detail about the house and property. It was a joy to see the excitement on your daughter's face upon her arrival. We are so thoroughly happy that you could relax and enjoy your time here. All communications with you were wonderful and we were both so grateful to meet you and your family. And a special thank you for leaving the house in clean, perfect condition. We truly, truly hope to welcome you again, with open arms!

Special Mountain holiday

  • 5 of 5

Laura was very professional, helpful and generous from our first contact to the end.

There are interesting objects, nice art and a terrific kitchen inside while the outside was filled with plants, flowers, gardens, special sitting areas, nature, bird feeders and even a basketball area!!

We can only imagine how beautiful this home and area will be in the fall foliage season.

Owner's Response: We were so happy that you were able to spend tranquil, quality time with your daughter and son who live in N.Y.C. Also thrilled that you enjoyed the house and gardens so much, and love the fact that you explored the surrounding area. Thank you very much for leaving the house so clean. Most of all it was such a pleasure to meet you both and your children! Truly hope that you do return one day as you mentioned!

We spent ten wonderful days this summer at this house and enjoyed every moment. The house is very well equipped, and particularly the kitchen, which was a real pleasure to cook in. The gardens and woods around the house are just lovely. Best of all were Laura and Vinny, who welcomed us warmly and responded rapidly to our questions before and during our stay. We will most certainly return.
