General Overview

‘Royal Mile Elegance’ is a stunning 5 Star quality top floor apartment with lovely city views over Edinburgh’s Old Town. Built circa 1820s, it is situated on the historic ‘Johnston Terrace’, off The Royal Mile, literally just a 2 minute walk to the Castle! It comprises very spacious luxury accommodation, comprising entrance hallway, spacious living room, dining kitchen, 2 double bedrooms (1 kingsize bed and 1 with twin beds) and 2 bathrooms (including en-suite facilities). Wifi and TV included.

The Space

The apartment offers 1200 sq ft of beautifully appointed accommodation that is comfortable for up to 4 guests, comprising an entrance hallway, spacious living room, dining kitchen, 2 double bedrooms (1 with kingsize bed and 1 with twin beds) and 2 bathrooms (including en-suite facilities). There is a separate toilet off the hall and TV and free wifi are also included.

As you see from the photos, the apartment is furnished in a relaxed and charming country home style with top quality furnishings and fittings throughout. Features include lovely gas fire in the living room, heated bathroom floors and historic features which include lovely cornicing and traditional window shutters.

With stunning views, a prime Old Town location and tasteful decor, Johnston Terrace is the perfect choice for visitors looking for a luxury city break in Edinburgh.

Please note there is no lift as is typical of Edinburgh Old Town properties, although we will be there to give you a helping hand with your luggage :)

Guest Access

You'll have exclusive use of this top floor luxury apartment. Check-in from 3pm and check-out is at 11am.

Interaction with Guests

This apartment is professionally managed by Jason, Kathryn and Eddie of The Festival Partnership who will arrange to 'meet and greet' you on your arrival provide advice and support during your stay.

We also ask that one of the staying guests is at least 25 years of age and if requested upon check in, would politely ask for some verification of name / proof of address (drivers licence, passport and/or copy of utility bill).

Please note : Check-ins after 9pm at night will be £25 (payable in cash on arrival) for the 'meet and greet' service.

Elegant, clean, and cozy flat ideally located in the Old Town.

My husband, two daughters (ages 11 and 9) and myself stayed at this gorgeous and snug flat for a week at the end of November. We had an incredible visit to Edinburgh and much of that was due to the comforts and location of this apartment. We joked about never leaving and honestly wished we had packed our cat, so we could have just stayed! Every night we'd come back in after exploring a different neighborhood or museum and turn on the gas fireplace and knit, read and chat in the living room. The Christmas Markets had just opened, so it was so delightful to return after spending time shopping and make hot chocolate or tea in the well-appointed kitchen and recount our day's adventure or plan the next day. The flat had a washing machine and drying rack, so we were able to pack lightly and do laundry mid-way.

The flat is four flights up with no lift, but the views from EVERY window made it worth every step! I delighted in opening the shutters each morning and hearing bagpipes (not kidding) and seeing incredible views of the Hub on one side and Greyfriar's on the other. At the street level just outside the door are some great restaurants, we loved the Thai Orchid and Hanam's. We walked everywhere - you could not ask for a better location to see the major sites and museums. Other bonuses for us were the master bath, the twin beds, sky lights, and again, the fireplace. My only suggestion to the owner would be to possibly add a deck of cards and a checkerboard. I forgot to pack any games, and it would have been lovely to play games as a family in the evening. Otherwise, the apartment was very clean, arrival and departure was smooth and the owner has been fantastic to deal with. Weeks later, we are still talking about how much we loved the city and enjoyed staying in this flat.

Lovely central location to everything

We very much enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean and bright and comfortable. We like to cook and the kitchen had all we needed to make some nice dinner meals.

It is central to most major attractions and close to all of the local bus routes. We walked to the weekly farmers market for fresh produce.

The owners were very helpful.

Beds were comfortable and the living room was a great place to relax in the evening.

Lovely Apartment

Lovely large apartment and great location. 2 bathrooms is a huge plus especially being in the older part of the city. Only downside is walking up 4 flights (especially with luggage) but I guess that is the only way to get the better views. The management team was readily available to answer any questions. Would stay again.

Great location and flat

It was an amazing experience to stay at this place. It's in the heart of the Old town, close to most attractions, restaurants and pubs. Incredible views from every room. Be aware that there is no elevator, so carrying luggage all the way up 4 floors was quite a job, but worth it.

Awesome place to stay......... great location just off of the Royal Mile!

The views are fantastic, worth the 4 flights of stairs to the flat. The apartment was clean and in great shape. Only suggestion is to the owner is it is time to replace the mattress in the master bedroom!

Perfect place, perfect location.

Beautiful apartment in the heart of old town across from Edinburgh Castle. The apartment is beautifully appointed.

Everything that you could possibly need is provided. There are treasures in every room. Quiet.If you open your window during the day you can hear the faint sounds of bag pipes being played from the royal mile. There were so many fantastic restaurants close by one could not possibly mention them all. It was also a wonderful getaway from the busy city to make dinner or enjoy breakfast as a family. We loved the atmosphere and location!
