About the property

Superb large stone house in peaceful setting, yet close to Lyme Regis and Charmouth, Axminster famous for its carpets is easily accessible.

This superb large stone house has been built in a most peaceful rural setting, away from all roads, in one-third of an acre of garden and about 7 miles inland from the east Devon coast. The two nearest resorts are Lyme Regis and Charmouth, both with sandy beaches and holiday entertainments. Chard and Axminster lie about 5 miles distant with shops and railway station

Famous for its fine carpets, Axminster stills produces them today, with the original factory being found near the church. There are good examples of Georgian houses to be seen here, and for those interested in architecture, the National Trust property of Shute Barton close by survives as one of the most important non-fortified manor houses of the Middle Ages. A mixture of Gothic windows, battlemented turrets and Tudor gatehouse mingle together, reflecting the fact that it parts of it were built during two different centuries. Another interesting property to visit is the Old Bakery, together with the manor mill and forge at Branscome, set in one of Devon’s prettiest cob-and-thatch villages. Operational until 1987, it was the oldest traditional working bakery in Devon, and now serves as a tearoom, with the bakery equipment on display to the public. The lace-making and pottery town of Honiton lies within easy reach and has a selection of interesting shops and an annual fair held in July, whilst a little further afield is Yeovil, well known for its glove-making industry spanning 350 years. Riding and golf in the area.

Lyme Regis is easily reached and the colourwashed cottages and elegant Regency and Victorian villas which line the seafront make this very photogenic town. Attractions for all the family include a museum of local history and geology, Dinosaurland and a marine aquarium. Seaton is within easy driving distance, and boasts a steep pebbly beach as well as an open-top tramway. Garage/shop 4 miles.

Ground floor: Living room. Dining room/kitchen. 1 single bedroom. Separate toilet. First floor: 4 bedrooms: 2 double, one (four poster) with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 twin (2ft 6in for children), 1 single. Snooker room with access to double bedroom. Bathroom with toilet.

Woodburner in living room (at cost). Gas central heating and electricity by meter reading. Bed linen and towels included. Cot. High chair. Satellite TV (basic package). DVD. CD. Gas hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Payphone. Large garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Barbecue. Ample parking. Snooker room with ¾-size table. No smoking.

If you want to get away from it in an idilic location then Sunvale is perfect. Great accommodation and everything you could needs. Close enough to visit all the local beaches and attractions (Broadchurch locations) Had a great week - thank you.

May Holiday

  • 4 of 5

Very nice property. Spacious in a lovely setting and very quiet. 15 min to the beach at Lyme Regis. Plenty of parking roads very quiet.

Large kitchen for dining. Downstairs loo needs a little attention to the flush. We enjoyed our stay in this secluded house which is quite unusual.

Space, peace and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Sunvale over the long (and wet) Easter weekend. We were a large family group of mixed age including teenagers. There was ample space for all, very large lounge with log burner and wood provided, a second lounger area upstairs with sofa's and a table - great for jigsaws while putting children to bed and a fabulous games room with big TV for PlayStation - the snooker table was a big hit. The owners met us onm arrival and left tea, coffee, milk etc which was kind.

It was easy enough to get to local shops in Axminster, days out in Brdidport, Lyme Regis and Beer were fun. All in all a very good break, everyone loved the house - no complaints whatsoever and would book again next year.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

The property is very homely and set in a quiet surrounding but not far from main link roads. The rooms were all of good size and the games room with Snooker table was brilliant!

We all had a great stay.

We felt this property was stunning and the position wonderful , so peaceful. Everything we wanted or needed seemed to be there. My husband only had one request wishes it had a dart board. I think we will defiantly be returning, hoping it has a dart board when we come back hahahahaha
