About the property

Lawnmarket Apt is close to transport links & a short walk to main shopping area

This luxury 2nd floor apartment is situated on Lawn market which is the oldest part of the Old Town of Edinburgh. The apartment is accessed through the typical Edinburgh communal stairway. Off the hall, there is a great open plan living space with seating for 4 people and 2 window seats with views over the Royal Mile to watch the comings and goings of both tourists and locals alike. The lounge has a digital TV, Freeview, DVD player, CD/radio, cassette player and Wi-Fi. The kitchen is very modern and well equipped for a self catering apartment with an electric hob and oven, fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher.

There are two bedrooms all to the front, one double bedroom and one twin bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge thus sleeping 5 people in total with a possible 6th person if the sofa bed is shared. There is a family bathroom with bath and an electric shower over.

There is electric panel heating throughout which can be altered to your preference.

The property has wooden floors and blinds which complement the apartment well.

Sorry, no stag and hen or party groups accepted.

Parking: This apartment is the very heart of Edinburgh and the owner has a free parking space available to guests which is a 15 walk away. However the best way to get around Edinburgh is by foot. There are plenty of buses - Lothian Regional Transport (LRT) which operate frequently throughout the city and you can catch close by on either streets crossing the Royal Mile.

Accessibility: Please note this is a 2nd floor apartment, and there is no lift in the building.

Our opinion: You are literally in the heart of Edinburgh and the thick of all the action here - as such it may not be the quietest street in Edinburgh because so much happening and visitors to this area. But if you want a base to explore the city and all it has to offer you would be hard pushed to find a better spot than this.

Cancellation Policy

Once a booking deposit has been paid and the booking confirmed in writing, the Tenant is liable for the whole amount of the rent for the period booked.

Any cancellations must be made in writing and acknowledged by us.

If notice of cancellation is given more than 8 weeks before your arrival date, 25% of the total tariff is non-refundable If notice of cancellation is given with less than 8 weeks of your arrival date, the full amount is payable.

Holiday / Cancellation Insurance. Once booked, the Tenant is liable for the complete Property rental costs. As such, it is strongly recommended that the Tenant take out suitable holiday / cancellation insurance to cover costs incurred by unexpected holiday cancellation. Booking Protect, which is a cancellation policy, is offered as an option at the time of booking via the TS Holiday Lets website. This property has many benefits, one being the fact it can sleep 5 with the sofa bed being used, a rarity for a central apartment and also the modern amenities offered. Due to the location, it is undeniably within easy access to the cities most popular attractions such as the Castle and the famous shopping area of Princess street all possible on foot. However many transport links are within reach too.

Local Area: Lawnmarket is the oldest part of the Old Town itself, the name derives from Land Market, where goods were sold in the market from the surrounding countryside. One end of the Royal Mile is the Castle itself and Royal Observatory both of which are definitely worth a visit, and to the other end is Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament building all within an easy stroll from the apartment. There are numerous bars, cafes, restaurants and speciality shops all along the Royal Mile - so plenty to do just walking up and down this street. This is also the main area for The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, as all acts will congregate here to showcase their shows. Off the Royal Mile you can walk down the Mound leading down into Princes Street and to the New Town of Edinburgh - this is no more than a 10-15 minute walk, or longer depending on how long you take to walk and look at all the grand buildings around. However if you want to escape the shopping and activity - 10 minutes in the opposite direction will take you past the National Museum and on to The Meadows which is a great park and worth a visit to get a different view of the City.

A luxury self catering apartment in the Edinburgh old town High Street with great views from every window in the apartment over the Royal Mile. Edinburgh Castle is at the top and Holyrood House at the bottom with plenty shops, restaurants, tourist attractions and entertainment in between.
