We're in the Stubai Valley (one of Austria's best) - and just 10 minutes south of Innsbruck "The heart of the Alps", which has a big train station, airport, and all the best amenities you could hope for from a city nestled up in the mountains!!
There's a great supermarket about 3 houses down, so get your own booze & food to cook from there. It's in the ski resort of Schlick 2000, which has some of the best free riding in the Alps, a natural fun park, floodlit night time sledging (ridiculously good fun), apres ski, and yet is good for beginners (beginners area and nice looong wide blue slopes etc also just up the road (25 mins) from Austria's largest skiable glacier - the Stubai Glacier - which, due to its altitude, has guaranteed great skiing 10 months of the year, so you guys will be fine even if the whole of the Alps is having a bad season.
We can do (upon request) wicked outings like doing the Olympic bobsleigh run, you can go eat a medieval 8-course meal in an underground feast hall, do frozen waterfall climbing, night boarding, snow shoeing, x-country skiing etc etc - there's even paragliding here (amongst the most beautiful & well priced you can do in the whole Alps). In the lobby we've made a great catalogue of all the ridiculous things to do in the area, so you can suss them out and book them when here.

Skiing costs & resorts:
Doug is a qualified ski and snowboard instructor, so just ask if he is available to teach. 150 euro for a full day (irrespective of how many people). This is about half the price of booking through a ski school.
We stock full ski clothing. Don't spend 200-500 euro buying it all! We charge 50 euro to rent everything for the week - goggles, beanie, jackets, pants, helmets, gloves etc , or 25 euro for 1 item.
Skis & Boards: We also have a massive selection of hardware. Boots, poles, skis and boards for 75 euro per week, rather than 200.
Schlick 2000: We're in the ski resort of Schlick (15 min walk or regular free shuttle bus from the chalet), which has some of the best off-piste in the Alps, a natural fun park, floodlit night time sledging (ridiculously good fun), apres ski, and yet is good for beginners (beginners area and nice looong, wide, blue slopes etc). Bad snow in the Alps? cannons ensure good skiing here from early Dec - late April. 21km of pistes. 20-35 euro per day pass.
Experts: We get fresh powder tracks here for 4 days after it's snowed! From the top of either the gondola or the main chair lift you can walk a few steps, and go down in aaany direction!! There are no barriers or fencing or inpenetrable forests, so the whooole place opens out to free riders. It also has a fantastic fun section round the back ("Free Nature Park") which is full of half pipes, lips and pillows and everything imaginable to pop off. There's also a small man-made fun park for jumps and grinds.
Stubai Glacier: A free shuttle bus or 25 mins car drive up to the end of our valley is Austria's largest skiable glacier - with 62km(!) of pistes of all difficulties - the Stubaier Gletscher. Due to its incredible altitude of 3,200m (1km higher than most other European resorts) it has guaranteed great skiing 10 months of the year, so you guys will be laughing even if the whole of the Alps is having a bad season! It also features a world-class fun-park (Stubai Zoo) which has some outrageous kickers and rails - as well as beginners' lines. It also features one of Austria's longest ski routes - which takes well over half an hour from top to bottom at a fast pace! The beginners' area is second to none - set safely in a bowl, you progress anti-clockwise with magic carpets, slow drags, buttons, slow chairs and then the long wide blue slope, Rotadl. It also has kids areas, igloos, apres ski and a massive restaurant overlooking it all. 35-45 euro per day pass.
Elferbahnen & Serlesbahnen: These two cute ski resorts are perfect for a few hours, or if you're a beginner only wanting to spend 10-20 Euros on a ski pass. They also feature some of the longest floodlit sledging routes in the Alps, which is a must-do! Taking your sledge on the gondola to the top of a mountain... It's better / more extreme than anyone who comes here imagines :D
More slopes?! If the valley's 100km+ of pistes aren't enough for you (?!), then we have a 9-seater VW Transporter (and an extra car if you need the seats), and the world-famous resorts of St Anton, Ischgl, Solden and Kitzbuehel are all within an hour's drive. We can drive you for 150 Euro per vehicle for the day - or as they're insured for anyone to drive, you can take it yourselves for 90 euro.
Transfers / Getting here:
Ideally fly to our local airport - Innsbruck - just 18 mins away, via easyjet, Monarch, Lufthansa etc (check sky scanner). We'll collect you for €50 for 1-8 people, and €90 for 9-10 (we have a 9-seater VW, and an extra VW Polo if needed).
There are also great minibus services to us from Munich, Salzburg & Memmingen airports (all take 3 hours) for €55 with Tirol Taxi 4 Seasons. We, however, also do pick ups for 8 passengers from the above airports for €350, so please let us know to keep the van available for you :)
We have free parking for up to 3 cars. Please tell us if you are bringing more than 1 car though!
We look forward to hearing from you,
Doug Fletcher & the DMG crew x
