South Hill home w/ Front porch and less than a mile walk to downtown. 10 minute walk to South Hill stairs with unforgettable scenic overlook of St. Croix River and historic Stillwater Lift Bridge. 15 minutes to historic downtown, or 0.8 miles, with great shopping and first class restaurants and bars.
Many outdoor activities in the area including boating, golfing, kayaking, bike trails, wineries, breweries and paddle boat excursions.
Our home has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and was originally built in 1890 and remodeled in 2004. Modern updates with character of an old house. It is conveniently located close to Highway 36 and easy to find.
We have a Golden Retriever that lives in the home while we are there. Please keep this in mind for those who have allergies. With that said, we will happily accept well-trained dogs in our home, the backyard is fenced in.
We've been married for 20 years and have 2 grown children. We came to the river for a boating trip with some friends 15 years ago. We used to be lake boaters, but from that day forward we were all about the river and haven't looked back. We moved to Stillwater specifically for the boating, but have fallen in love with the restaurants and the people.
We live on our boat most of the summer and for that reason are able to make our home available most of the boating season.
Heather purchased this house in 2010
We decided on this home after months of searching. We knew as soon as we saw it this would be the one. It was built in 1890, but underwent some remodeling and we continue to make improvements. We love this house and hope you enjoy it too.
This home is located close to downtown shopping and restaurants. It offers open views and is a great place to catch a baseball game from the front porch in the summer.
If you have any specific items you would like to request for your stay (grocery, liquor, etc.) please let us know and we will try to accommodate.
We had a girlfriend trip and couldn't be more pleased with the home. Stillwater is charming, and this home is close to everything, but far enough removed that you had your privacy and quiet. The home is comfortable, clean and homey.
Would recommend this place in a heartbeat!
We had a wonderful time in Stillwater and really enjoyed our 3 night stay in this cozy historical home. We loved the porch and porch swing! This was so much better than staying in a hotel!
We had a great, relaxing weekend celebrating a friend's birthday! Quick Uber ride to the DT area & a really fun place to sit outside & just chat! Very clean, parking was convenient! Looking forward to returning with family & bringing the pup!
This was a perfect place for our Girl's Getaway. The right amount of space, well-decorated and well-equipped. It was convenient to downtown Stillwater and great restaurants and shops. Had our stay been longer, we would have enjoyed using the sitting areas in the back yard. We all agreed that this was a perfect spot and that we would be back.
My family (4 adults, 1 child) spent 4 nights here in early August so we could attend a wedding and related events in Stillwater and the surrounding area. We were delighted with the house, which was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished with comfortable beds, well-appointed kitchen and baths, good quality furniture throughout, and everything in working order. (The only improvement we would recommend is the addition of ceiling fans upstairs, as it sometimes got a bit stuffy upstairs even with AC on warmer days. But we appreciated the small portable fans in each bedroom and of course the central AC.) We enjoyed both the front porch and the back patio. Owners were responsive, prompt, and helpful, and all was as advertised or even better. Spacious driveway parking. Great spot in a leafy, quiet, residential neighborhood with excellent proximity to downtown Stillwater (5-min drive, or very hilly 15-min walk -- good calf workout!). Also easy to get to grocery, Target, gas, etc. This was a great vacation rental! Thanks to Heather and Mike for renting their lovely home to us. Check out the 45-minute Stillwater trolley tour to learn a little about Stillwater's interesting past and get an intro to the awesome architecture of the lumber baron mansions in the hills above downtown.
