We would love to have you!
My husband, 4-year old son, and I are California natives who have always dreamed of living in a house like this. We enjoy playing outside. For us, it's all about going on hikes, riding bikes, basically just exploring. Still, we love a good movie and cozy time by the fire.
We are fortunate to split our time between Topanga Canyon and Costa Rica.
While in Costa Rica, we love sharing our home with people worldwide. We want to make sure that any guest that stays in our tranquil retreat has all of the amenities and information necessary to enjoy their vacation time to its fullest potential. So please don't hesitate to reach out to our property manager, Melissa, who is a short distance away. She is available to assist you with anything throughout your stay, but will also respect your privacy. While you are here, we simply ask that you respect and take care of the property as if it were your own.
We love our little sanctuary and we feel extraordinarily lucky that in literally every direction you look, there's something awesome to see. Sycamores, Oaks, Willows, squirrels, robins, quails, deer, owls, hummingbirds, bobcats, and frogs to name a few.
Topanga also has so much to offer. From the beautiful coastline and beaches, to seeing wildlife in the State Park. It's just about the perfect location for any past time -- surfing, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, padding boarding, rock climbing, yoga, and tai chi.
We hope you will love our home and Topanga Canyon as much as we do.
We love feedback. So, please leave us a review, so we can make a better experience for the next guests.
Amy Mew purchased this bungalow in 2013
I stayed in this beautiful, tranquil cottage with my husband and 2 young kids over the weekend. We all had a truly amazing and relaxing time. The house was clean, open and airy with lots of natural lighting, a soothing color palette and comfortable upscale furnishings. The owner stocked the home with lots of wonderful books to peruse through and they even had family games and toys for little ones. We found it especially charming to find blankets left in the linen closet, which were perfect for picnicking on the front and back lawn and it felt like we had a whole park to ourselves. Just a short drive down Topanga, we had a lovely lunch at Canyon Bistro and picked up wine and cheese at Canyon Gourmet. Pat's Topanga Grill was a couple minutes away as well, serving good breakfast the following morning. The location was a short distance from PCH, so you can have fun on the beach and come home to a quiet home in the woods. The management company was very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. The entire experience was wonderful! We can't wait to come back again!
Topanga is a hopping place with lots of things to do. On one side of the mountains is LA and on the other side are Santa Monica beach and Malibu and the whole vast Pacific. You can run all day if you want to.
But when you want to get out of the hustle and bustle there isn't a better place to go than this lovely home. It is truly an oasis with several places to make yourself comfortable inside and a dozen places outside. The gigantic tree growing on the rock is a wonderful thing upon which to meditate.
We don't get to Los Angeles often but when we do this will be where we will stay.
Our 4 night stay at Topanga was perfect! The house is adorable and very well outfitted. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay; great beds, an extra blow up mattress (perfect for our family of 5), kitchen amenities, amazing grounds, toys for the kids, etc. And the home was so beautifully decorated. The location was also perfect for our needs - right between LA and Malibu made it a manageable drive to each. We loved it and wished we could stay longer.
Melissa, the manager, was a joy to communicate with and went out of her way to make sure that we had everything we needed and more. Thanks so much - I couldn't more highly recommend!
Melissa was a great host! Check in and check out was easy, everything you can possibly need was placed exactly where you would expect it to be in this beautiful home. House was clean, the decor was beautiful, the sheets:blankets smelled like fresh detergent, the property all around the home was just exactly what my bridesmaids and I needed before my big day. Thank you for having us in your beautiful home Melissa!!! Can't wait til it starts raining so I can sit in that beautiful sunroom and hear the raindrops hit the glass! THANK YOU!!
I stayed here the night before my wedding at the 1909 in Topanga with all of my bridesmaids, and then my wedding night with my husband.
The house feels like a cottage straight out of a Disney movie....so peaceful, picturesque, and charming. The pictures online truly don't do this place justice. I felt so relaxed the day of and days before the wedding because the home is relaxing and tranquil. The space is open, airy, and light, and the outside is quiet, green, and romantic. We even took bridal portrait photos here because the setting is so beautiful.
You will feel relaxed, cozy, and miles away from the hustle and bustle of LA. And, only a 15 minute drive to the Malibu beaches. A perfect place for a weekend getaway.
We can't wait to stay here again someday.
My husband and I rented the place for three nights. It was an incredible setting. The grounds are green and lush. The large oak trees provided shade and made it much cooler. It is very quiet and tranquil. The house is very clean and both beds are very comfortable. The sauna was an added bonus. The only thing we found challenging was the single lane road back to the house and no place to turn around. No street parking available. It is within close proximity to Malibu and the San Fernando Valley. I would highly recommend this rental.
Super gorgeous little piece of heaven in the Topanga Canyon. I stayed there with my bridal party the two nights surrounding my wedding at a nearby location and it was such a dreamy site to be preparing to get married. The atmosphere was peaceful and quiet. The house was perfectly clean and the management even left a thoughtful card and bottle of champagne for "the bride" which I thought couldn't be sweeter!
I'd absolutely recommend staying in the lovely place to any and everyone.
So many thanks to the owners and management for accommodating an amazing experience!!
Topanga Canyon itself is bounded on three sides by 14,000 acres of State Parks and on the other by the Pacific Ocean. It offers ample opportunity for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, surfing and paddleboarding. A bohemian enclave close to Los Angeles, Topanga is home to many artists, writers, musicians, actors, healers, hippies and survivalists. Nearby are local restaurants and hangouts, while the towns of Malibu, Calabasas, Pacific Palisades and Woodland Hills are just a short drive away. Hiking trails are right within walking distance to the house, which access to Topanga Canyon State Park. Topanga Creek Cycles is right outside our back gate, if you’d like to rent mountain bikes.
While secluded, we are easily accessible by major roads. An 8-minute drive down the canyon takes you to Pacific Coast Highway’s most pristine beaches in southern California. It’s just a few more miles to the beautiful Malibu town and pier with lots of shopping, dining and recreational opportunities. An 8-minute drive in the other direction takes you to the Ventura Freeway for easy access to Burbank, Glendale, Downtown L.A., Disneyland and beyond… or heading north to Ventura, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, and other sites on the way to San Francisco.
