Why Steve chose Lassithi

This property was selected before the Villa itself had been built. there was a choice of several plots at the time but this plot stood out as the ideal spot to get wonderful views of the entire bay with further views across the Agean towards Sitia. The colour of the Sea literally changes every hour throughout the course of the day, it is a magical location and most perfect spot for a relaxing or adventurous holiday.

What makes this villa unique

The views, food and Cretan hospitality.

Happy Holiday

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived at the Villa we were so pleased with our selection, the views immediately hit you when you step out on to the terrace, from the Swimming pool where we spent so many lazy afternoons relaxing the views are simply outstanding. The area of Elounda has everything that you require for your Holiday, from quick and easy cafe's to nice resteraunts. We didnt even leave Elounda at all during our stay as the locals made us so welcome. We will most certainly be back to enjoy this Villa again in the very near future. If you are looking for a romantic get away or a family holiday then there will be something here for you. Crete must be the friendliest place that we have ever been to. Since visiting here we have even begun looking in to purchasing a similar property ourselves. The suport and attention to detail from Paul and Lenny at Bluebay were superb and they make you feel that you can relax without worrying about anything. Thank you to the owners Steve and Emma for giving us the oportunity to stay at this wonderful Villa. See you in the near future. Rosie and Barry.

Great villa and amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

We are a Canadian family of 5 (2 adults and 3 young children) and we spent a week in this great villa in July during our 4-week holiday in Greece. The location is pretty hard to beat: very close de Elounda (walking-distance!) but higher-up, with a beautiful view. The villa has a small pool and there are excellent restaurants very very close to the villa. It was great to be able to walk to town, to the supermarket and to the restaurants. From the villa, we were able to visit Spinalonga, Agios Nikolaos, the Panagia Kera and the village of Kristsa, the Lassithi Plateau and the Diction Andron (the grotto where Zeus was raised) as well as the villages close by. There is a nice beach, very family-oriented, right in Elounda where we would often finish our days. We highly recommend this villa. Thanks Steve! And thanks to your agent as well who helped us out that first morning, when we arrived (I forget his name!).

Great location with simply stunning views

  • 5 of 5

I booked a late 3 night holiday for my wife and I, who is 25 weeks pregnant. All we wanted was a few days away relaxing in the sun, this villa was perfect for that, with simply stunning views over the port and sea from both bedroom balconies, and pool side sun terrace. Our little break was perfect from the moment we booked it through homeaway.co.uk and had instant communication with the owner to the moment we returned home.

The villa had everything we required, upstairs were 2 very comfy and clean, air conditioned double bedrooms with one having en-suite and the other being right next to a separate shower room, both of which had decent wet room showers! Each room had their own spacious balcony with a table and two chairs over looking the port, this view was breath taking at sunrise, and a must see. Downstairs was open plan with kitchen, dining room and living area, with two wide patio doors leading out to the swimming pool and sun terrace beyond! Each door/window had its own sliding mosquito net and electric shutter. The pool was immaculately clean and adequately sized with walk in steps, but the best thing was it had a resistance jet option should you wish to do alittle exercise, which turned a small pool into an endless ocean. There was a gas BBQ beside the pool side table and chairs should you wish to use it and comfortable sun loungers and parasol, which was positioned at the far end to maximise the time in the sun before it set behind the mountains.

The villa was the last of four on the hillside behind a secure gate, with all four of them being well build to ensure maximum views and privacy with this villa not being overlooked at all. There is parking right outside the front door for two cars, I would suggest a hire car is a must due to its location and size of the island, however dispite being situated up a steep hill the villa is only approximately 1 kilometre away from Elounda and the hill was safe and easily manageable for my 25 week pregnant wife to walk up and down each day slowly, and the views made it well worth it!

Being there for only 4 days we chose to eat out each night but didn't need to venture any further than Elounda. I recommend eating at Lotus Eaters restaurant and Kanali restaurant, both of which will more than likely require a reservation due to their quality Mediterranean/seafood/Greek food and popularity.

I would greatly recommend this villa and happily return ourselves.

Fabulous stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful stay at Villa Mavrikiano; the photos really do not do justice to the villa and the fantastic views! My husband and I were looking for a relaxing holiday, close enough to be able to walk out at night to nearby restaurants, but far enough away from the resort centre for some peace and quiet. Villa Mavrikiano ticked all the boxes.

The villa was well stocked with everything we needed, the welcome pack was especially appreciated. It was lovely and clean, with a comfortable bed and a powerful shower, lots of wardrobe/storage space and plenty of seating options. We enjoyed a coffee on the balcony each morning, followed by breakfast on the terrace downstairs and lounging by the pool in the afternoon!

The location really was perfect. Granted, the hill is steep, but we walked up it every day (twice sometimes!) and managed it just fine.

In terms of nearby eateries, we had lovely meals nearby at The Hope, Palio Kantouni halfway down the hill and Despina at the bottom of the hill. We also ate at the Ferryman and Lotus Eaters in town - we didn't have a bad meal all week.

I would certainly recommend this villa and would love to come back again one day.

Brillaint

  • 5 of 5

After delays at Stansted, then we flew into Chaina, and had problems with our Hire Car, then a 3 hour journey, we thought to ourselves this holiday is not going to go well. How wrong we were from the time we met John at the Villa to the morning that we left all I can say is WOW.

As everyone has said before the pictures do not show the villa at its best, and as for the view it’s simply magnificent. My husband spent hours just watching the boats in the bay, and the sun changing the colour over the mountains. The thunderstorm that we watched was amazing, watching the sun come up in the morning with a coffee and a croissants from Janet’s (the cakes were wonderful). To the evening BBQing with really tasty meet from the green butches shop. Everything was perfect.

We walked every day down to the village, the ‘slope’ up to the Villa is a really test, I now have calf mussels like tree trunks. The village is lovely and everyone is so friendly.

Best restaurants in our minds are the two closests to the Villa, maybe that’s because walking back to the villa in the evening after a Carafe of wine could be a bit much.

But thanks to everyone who made this holiday so enjoyable. We hopefully will return.

Great Villa with Amazing Views

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 had a fantastic stay at Villa Mavrikiano. The villa is modern and well equipped and comfortably slept us and our 3 children. The pool is not large, but it was as warm as a bath and it was easy to keep an eye on our young children who spent hours jumping in and out. The weather was fantastic and the children were often in the pool until late into the evening, whilst we barbecued on the terrace. The air con in the bedrooms meant that, despite the high temperatures, it was still comfortable to sleep at night.

The view from the terrace is fantastic - looking out across the bay. We were lucky enough to have a full moon while we were there, and this was a stunning sight across the water. The trade off for the view is that the villa is up a very steep hill. This did not cause us any problems, even with 3 young children in tow, but it might be an issue for someone with mobility problems. We had read previous reviews and took the advice of others by renting a smaller car. The last half of the road up to the villa is quite narrow, and with other cars parked at the side, it would be difficult to get a large car up to the driveway.

The main town and other more local supermarkets, are easily reached on foot. There are some great local restaurants within 5 minutes of the villa and plenty more in the town. A taxi back from the town is very reasonable, if you don't fancy the walk back up the hill.

Overall we had a great holiday in a lovely villa - thank you!

The best Villa reviews in Elounda, this is a perfect place to enjoy your holiday, thats what other people are saying so please take time to read the reviews from other Cretan holiday makers. The villa is set in an elevated position occupying a beautiful end plot of only 4 villas with uncompromising views across the Mirabello bay, the Villa is in secure area about 400 meters walk to the beaches and sea. Just a short walk further along the promenade brings you to a selection of Tavernas, Supermarkets and the famous holiday resort of Elounda. The area is good for water based activities, walking, and site seeing and is only a short drive to the pleasant regional town of Agios Nikolaos. This is a perfect place to relax and unwind and enjoy the friendliness of a wonderful Cretan town with so much to offer.
