Good size 1 double bedroom flat in perfect central London location

Winfield House is part of the Battersea Village complex, just across the road from The Thames. Set in mature and attractive gardens, this generously-sized one double bedroom flat is newly refurbished in a classically-contemporary style. Just 200 metres from trendy Battersea Square, there are vast numbers of great restaurants and bars within minute's walking distance. Or promenade along the lovely river walk and cross Battersea Bridge to Chelsea, just an easy and scenic12 minutes walk away from the flat. Battersea Village is a purpose-built Edwardian gated complex with its own well-tended gardens, where in the right weather you can sit outside with a drink or picnic. Just across from us, there is a small park, including a municipal tennis court which is free to use.

The nearest station is Clapham Junction (Europe's busiest railway station!), an 8 minute walk away. From Clapham it is a 7 minute journey to Victoria, Waterloo or 35 minutes to Gatwick Airport. There is a bus stop just outside which can take you to Chelsea, Pimlico and Victoria or towards Roehampton. There is also a 'city bike' rank just outside. The flat has excellent wifi and wifi TV. It also has it's own parking space which is available at extra cost.

This is stylish spacious flat for two people in a well maintained building in an attractive and peaceful setting, close to the river. It is in an excellent position to make the best of the fantastic facilities close by. It is not suitable for children, as there are a number of mirrored/delicate furnishings and fittings which will not withstand careless usage. But it is those things which lift it above the average rental!

It is rare that one can find a purpose built, generously-proportioned and luxurious

flat in a central London location designed just for one couple. It is tucked away from any road noise (all of west London is on the Heathrow flight path, so 'plane noise is unavoidable anywhere!) and close to some fabulous amenities. It is a lovely place to base yourself if you like walking, as the river walk just by Battersea Village, gives access to wonderful and historic places without needing to resort to public transport or taxis if you don't want to. It is an oasis of calm in the middle of one of the world's great cities!

What makes this apartment unique

Whilst there are numerous brand new high rise developments on the banks of the Thames at Battersea, this complex has been where it is, set in its lovely gated gardens, for more than 100 years. It has an air of peace and tranquillity about it, which the new developments, crammed onto their small plots, on a busy road, do not have. The flat itself, though only one bedroom, is a good size, so the bedroom is quite large and has ample double mirrored wardrobes with lots of hanging space and case storage space for longer stays. There is an attractive eat-in kitchen, with all the equipment you would need for your stay. The sitting room is elegant and, again, a decent size for a central London property. There is a proper reception hall and a nicely styled and equipped bathroom. The flat is on the second floor of the building, and there is no lift, so you will need to carry your cases up the stairs. The location for local restaurants, bars, pubs, transport and river walks is really outstanding.

Loved it!

I had such a wonderful time staying here. The apartment is absolutely beautiful and was a pleasure to come home to every night. The bed is extremely comfortable with nice linens, the shower water is nice and hot, and the water pressure is excellent. The owners are incredibly sweet, and were genuinely concerned that I had a good time during my stay.

Immaculate & Comfortable

THE UNIT: This luxury condo is pristine, spacious, and extremely well outfitted. All of the amenities are as described, the bed is comfortable and we did not experience any noise or inconveniences.

THE OWNERS: Paul & Fiona were always quick to respond to any queries and went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. A binder has also been well crafted listing the unit/complex operations, directions, area recommendations, and also holds some surprise insider info within walking distance so be sure to read it.

THE AREA: Walking to restaurants, buses, train station (Clapham Junction), and grocery stores is all easy and within about 15 to 20 minutes. By public transportation, we accessed all of the major attractions in London as well as two trips to Windsor. The neighbourhood is nice, and a path along the Thames River makes for a pleasant stroll.

THE GRATITUDE: Most Sincere Thanks to Paul & Fiona! My Daughter and I comfortably lived out a dream by seeing the Royal Wedding. In future, should we have the need/want, we will seek out your other rentals.

Excellent short stay accomodation.

This is a great place to stay. It is spacious enough for two people and is equipped with all the necessities. Very quiet building and neighborhood. Groceries can be obtained with a few minutes of walking. Also several restaurants and coffee shops nearby. And a pub with live music every night. Several bus stops for routes to get you wherever you want to be. Thames River Path is 2 minutes away. We will be staying here again so don't anybody make bookings that might conflict with our plans as this is now our go to choice!

beautiful home away from home

I thought the pictures on the website looked amazing, but the flat is even nicer! great layout, amazing location and has everything you need to feel completely at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable. I would highly recommend this property and I will definitely be back! Loved it!!!

The perfect stay!

Spent a week at Windfield House and can easily say, overall, it was one of the best apartments we have stayed in London. Everything we were made to expect from the detailed description of the flat, we got... and a lot more. After experiencing so many "soulless" flats - Paul and Fiona have managed to create a special place with quality and well thought details which add to the whole "home away from home" experience. We will be back again soon!

Spacious flat in Battersea

Bright and spacious one bedroom flat in the Vicarage Crescent complex in Battersea. 5-10 minute walk to the 170, 44, and 49 bus lines to Victoria Station. 15 minute walk to Clapham Junction railway station, Britain’s busiest station and easy access from there to Waterloo Station, Greenwich, and Hampton Court Palace. Flat is clean, comfortable, and especially for London, quite spacious. We stayed here for 10 days in November, and I’d recommend it highly.

Restaurants and Pubs

Our part of Battersea has become quite a ‘hot spot’ in the past couple of years, mainly because of the ‘ripple effect’ of London’s most fashionable areas spilling south from Chelsea, together with the new riverside developments that have been built in the place of semi derelict warehouse buildings that were the trademark of this part of London in the past.

Nowhere is this more obvious than at Battersea Square, which now boasts no less than seven restaurants, bars and coffee shops. In the summer, each establishment offers ‘al fresco’ drinking and dining-and the atmosphere is trendy hip and cool. The ‘Yummy Mummies’ dropping their kids off at Thomas’ school just south of the square tend to congregate to discuss their arduous day ahead, and so the square is bustling from the early part of the day right up until midnight and later, in good weather. WiFi is available at most of the restaurants and bars, so you can combine a bit of work and people watching. For those who are into such things some evenings offer a veritable mobile car show as well, and Black Range Rovers are more common than Black Cabs!

To get to Battersea Sq., turn left out of the flat and go down the stairs, walk left and left past the end of the building and follow the path into the main garden. Walk half way through the long garden, and then turn right through the arch under Eaton House. Then head diagonally left to the gate and turn right on the main road-Battersea Sq. is 100 yards along. We particularly enjoy coffee and fresh-baked croissants at Gayle’s, and Queenswood restaurant is excellent in general. Melanzana, the Italian is also very good, and we gather that the newly-refurbished London House (under Gordon Ramsay’s umbrella) is worth a try.

Walk south down Battersea High St. passing Thomas’ School on your right, and you will come to the excellent Woodman pub. Great atmosphere and good food. Good place to sit with the papers, by the fire on a rainy Sunday!

Carry further on down Battersea High St., passing under the railway arch, and you will find Mokka on your left. The World’s smallest coffee bar, they serve perhaps the World’s best coffee and pastries!

Beyond that is Bariloche Argentinian restaurant. Really good food, pleasant service, and nice in the summer when they open the front up!

Transport and Walking

Keep going straight on for a further 5 minutes walk, and then bear right to Clapham Junction Station, which serves numerous parts of the UK, as well as Victoria, London Bridge and Waterloo stations and Gatwick Airport.

Otherwise the 170 bus which stops just outside our complex will take you through Chelsea and Pimlico to Victoria. Otherwise, walk along the river walk to the right for 6 minutes until you reach Battersea Bridge. There are numerous buses that stop here and will take you to South Kensington, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Mayfair and all points beyond. There is also a Bicycle rank (‘Boris Bikes’, now courtesy of Santander!) which you can rent for half an hour or longer once you have registered.

From the flat, you can walk to Kings Road Chelsea in around 11 minutes, walking along the river walk (river on the left), and crossing Battersea Bridge and going straight on. If you like walking and taking in your surroundings, Chelsea and Kensington beyond it are famous and historic areas, and taking the time to wander their back-streets can be both fascinating and rewarding.

Or, cross the main road past the end of Battersea Bridge and keep following the river walk to the wonderful Battersea Park. Well worth a visit. The restaurants indicated along the way between Battersea and Albert Bridges are very good.

We particularly like The Butcher & Grill, where you can sit in or outside, and has a very useful deli counter as well.

Supermarkets (and more Eating and Drinking)

There is no full-scale supermarket on our doorstep (though there is a little general store on the way to Battersea Square), but if you walk down Battersea High St. and cross York Road and carry on along Falcon Road, there is a small Tesco on your left. For something bigger, walk under the railway tunnel and turn left, there is a good Lidl and then a Boots and a huge Asda all on the left. Otherwise, continue straight ahead from the tunnel, cross the road with the Arding & Hobbs (Debenhams) Dept. store on your left, and you will find a Waitrose on your right, and an M&S almost opposite. If you suddenly feel the need for more restaurants and bars at this point, carry straight on into Northcote Road, where there is a HUGE choice. Really buzzy at night with no one over a certain age there (apart from us!) Great fun!
