Relaxing and Scenic

  • 5 of 5

Amazing cottage, Matthew and Alison were very helpful. Matthew had to rescue us from the snow when we got stuck. He did this even though he was very ill, their hospitality was second to none, would definitely recommend this cottage.

Most picturesque location

  • 4 of 5

Kestrel cottage is absolutely stunning. We had a wonderful stay and I have to say the cleanliness of the property was 2nd to none.

The bed was extremely comfortable and linen of good quality for both the main bed and the pull out sofa bed.

The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was the lack of directions, it's really difficult to find and the property is actually called something else on the signposts, it took us nearly an hour to find after many calls. There is a lack of info on the booking site as all we got was a google location (which was quite far out from the actual location).

We only had 2 small shower gels as toiletries and there was 3 of us so glad we brought our own. A nice touch would be to provide some shampoo & conditioner and some bar soap to wash hands. We were provided with a lovely pack of shortbread and tea and coffee which was a nice touch. I have recommended to the hosts that the directions are poor and they are looking to improve which is all we can ask for.

Would definitely return.

Owner's Response: Hello Natalie, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I wanted to make it clear that our directions state very clearly that the sat nav does not bring you to our location. We are a rural location and this most definitely adds to the charm. The signs state Nether Glenny farm. There is a sign at the bottom of the hill and more on your way up the hill to Nether Glenny. Every guest receives detailed directions to Nether Glenny which they should have to hand in order to bring you easily to your cottage. You will be glad to know that there are many more signs now. Also our Scottish Fine Soap products are an added luxury and most self catering properties don't include them. They are little gifts from us to you and not meant to be a substitute for your own toiletries during your self catering experience. Best wishes, Alison and Matthew

Peace & quiet in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage; well equipped and clean, comfortable bed, wood burner, good shower, and more spacious overall than I thought it might be.

Alison was very welcoming and made suggestions of places to go, and there was an information pack and leaflets in the cottage. The views are indeed gorgeous, as it's higher up, and can mainly be seen from the dining area which has french doors.

It's quite far up a single track road, which also leads to a few other properties and seems to go on forever! Although Alison gave good directions, I arrived in the dark and it was quite hard to work out if I was in the right place; best to arrive in daylight if you can.

I'd like to come back here, and explore the area a bit more.

Owner's Response: Hello and thank you for your review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Nether Glenny and that you would like to come back. It's good to know that you found the welcome book useful and that the views & property were all you hoped for. We are indeed 1km along the road which leads to you to the property nestled in the hills. It's a great idea to arrive around 4 pm if you can when the light is still good and to print out your directions or screen shot them. It's an all part of the adventure which our guests of all ages and stages enjoy! Bye for now! Alison and Matthew.
