Forge Folly is a beautiful detached Cotswold stone house, which has been lovingly refurbished by its owner, and is located at the end of a quiet no-through lane in the peaceful hamlet of Aston Magna. The lovely village of Blockley, with two pubs and a village shop, is two miles away, and the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh, which contain a wide range of pubs, shops and restaurants, is just three miles away. The house is ideally located for exploring the many beautiful villages of the North Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford upon Avon, Warwick Castle, Oxford and Blenheim Palace. The rural location of Aston Magna also makes it an ideal base for enjoying some of the fabulous walks that the Cotswolds has to offer.
Built to the highest quality, with a traditional character in keeping with the village, Forge Folly contains exposed beams, wooden floors and a lovely wood burning stove. The house has been immaculately furnished in a warm, contemporary style and the traditional character of the property is complemented by the modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a large flatscreen TV with Sky and a Blu-ray/DVD player, and a spacious, well equipped kitchen.
Forge Folly sleeps six people, in three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. There are lovely decked areas outside the kitchen and the living room, as well as a peaceful lawned area for relaxing in the sun, and a driveway to the side of the property has space for up to two cars. Forge Folly is perfect for a family or a group of friends looking for a relaxing break in the heart of the Cotswold countryside.
Booking and payment
Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the cottages listed on our website. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.
For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.
All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).
The maximum occupancy of the property is six guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than six guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by one additional infant.
Up to two medium sized dogs are accepted, at a cost of £20 per booking per dog.
For the comfort of future guests, we ask that dogs remain upstairs, stay off the furniture and that no trace of a dog remains after your departure. Please note that there is an open tread staircase leading from the ground floor to the first floor.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Family bathroom: Bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin

Heating, fuel and logs
The property has an oil fired central heating system.
Electricity and oil are included in the rental price. An initial basket of logs is provided for the wood burning stove and further logs are provided under a fair usage policy (there is an honesty box for contributions towards the cost of logs used).
The property has free wireless internet access and a Freeview TV with DVD player. Please note that the rural nature of the property means that the internet connection can be variable.
A telephone is provided at the property.
Guests should be aware that mobile phone reception can be very poor inside the property but is usually better outside.
The property has off street parking for two cars. Additional quiet on-street parking is readily available.
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen) and high chair are provided.
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
The property is laid out over two floors, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency. There are also steps from the decking area up to the grassed area at the side of the property, and steps down from the kitchen to the rear patio area.
There are drops off various walls in the garden and therefore young children should be supervised outside at all times.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
No smoking is permitted throughout the property.
In order to provide you with as much detail of our properties as possible, we sometimes use wide angle photography, which can make certain rooms, or spaces, appear larger than they actually are. Wherever possible, we try to include a floorplan, with detailed dimensions of rooms and areas.

An attractive, well equipped property
Forge Folly is beautifully furnished and equipped with plenty of everything you might need for self catering. We had a lovely welcome pack. The cottage was really warm and cosy and worked really well for taking two dogs with us.

Car: Aston Magna is easily accessed by car, being located a mile away from the A429 (Fosse Way), one of the main roads running through the North Cotswolds.
Train: The nearest railway station to Aston Magna is Moreton-in-Marsh (approximately three miles away), which has regular, direct services to London Paddington, with a typical journey time of approximately 90 minutes.
Plane: Birmingham International Airport: 39 miles, approximately 60 minute drive; Heathrow International Airport: 75 miles, approximately 90 minute drive.
