Grange Cottage is a stunning Cotswold stone cottage, which enjoys an idyllic rural location, with spectacular views across a valley to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard. The cottage is on the edge of the village of Amberley, which although small, has two well regarded pubs. Amberley backs onto the National Trust common land of Minchinhampton Common, a unique 600 acre open space with far reaching views, which offers walking, kite flying and an 18-hole golf course. The larger towns of Nailsworth and Stroud are close by, offering a vibrant selection of restaurants, shops and award-winning farmers markets. Grange Cottage is an ideal base for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, as well as for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford and even day trips into London.
This 18th century weavers' cottage boasts beautiful rural views across the valley from many of the rooms and has an abundance of character features, including oak beams, window seats, exposed Cotswold stone walls and a cosy wood burning stove. This traditional character is complemented by modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a SMART TV with DVD player, and a well-presented kitchen.
Grange Cottage sleeps six people, in four bedrooms, with one bathroom and a ground floor cloakroom. The main garden is at the front of the property, with a lawned area, mature shrubs and trees, and a patio area that is perfect for admiring the far reaching views and watching beautiful sunsets. A driveway at the back of the cottage has parking space for up to two cars and there is a further parking space on the lane outside the cottage. Grange Cottage is perfect for a family or group of friends looking for a rural break in the heart of the Cotswold countryside.
Booking and payment
Character Cottages is a marketing agency and we do not own or manage any of the cottages listed on our website. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.
For bookings commencing more than 10 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 10 weeks prior to arrival.
All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.
Security deposits are not required (please note that guests are still liable for any damage or additional cleaning required as a result of their actions).
The maximum occupancy of the property is six guests, at any point during your stay. Unauthorised over occupancy is a breach of our terms and conditions and may result in the cancellation of your booking and additional charges. Please consult us prior to booking if you wish to discuss the possibility of having more than six guests at the property.
Infants who sleep in a cot do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions, the occupancy figure may only be exceeded by up to two additional infants.
Regrettably, pets are not accepted.
Bed linen and towels
Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
Arrival and departure times
Arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is by 10am. Access is via a key safe, therefore it does not matter if you are arriving late at night.

Heating, fuel and logs
The property has a gas central heating system.
Electricity and gas are included in the rental price. An initial basket of logs is provided for the wood burning stove between October and March. Further log supplies can be purchased locally.
The property has free wireless internet access and a SMART TV.
There is no telephone at the property.
Mobile phone reception is generally good.
The property has a gated gravel driveway with parking space for two cars. There is further parking for one car in a layby next to the cottage.
Guests should be aware that the lane up to the property is very steep. If necessary, cars can be parked at the bottom of the lane, approximately 100 metres downhill from the property, or on the lane opposite the local pub 'Amberley Inn', which is a 5-minute walk back to the cottage via a public footpath (signposted) across common and woodland. If snow or ice is forecast, we strongly recommend that guests park their cars on the lower or upper lanes, away from the steep access hill.
Where a letting exceeds nine nights, a mid-stay clean, bed linen and towel change may be included in the price. Please check with us to confirm. Additional housekeeping services may be available on request.
Child friendly facilities
A travel cot (without linen), high chair, stair gate and baby bath are available upon request.
A small quantity of initial consumables is provided for your convenience (eg. tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, soap, washing powder, toilet rolls, etc), however, you should not expect the quantity of these provisions to be sufficient for the duration of your stay.
Accessibility, health and safety
This is an old property and has many character features, including steps into some rooms, low beams, multiple floors and a steep, winding staircase with no handrail up to the second floor, which could pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility, or carrying babies, both in terms of their general movement and their ability to quickly exit the house in the event of an emergency.
As noted above, guests should be aware that the property is accessed by a very steep lane.
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk.
Candles are not permitted at the property, due to the fire hazard they present.
No smoking is permitted throughout the property.
In order to provide you with as much detail of our properties as possible, we sometimes use wide angle photography, which can make certain rooms, or spaces, appear larger than they actually are. Wherever possible, we try to include a floorplan, with detailed dimensions of rooms and areas.
