Grange Cottage is a stunning Cotswold stone cottage, which enjoys an idyllic rural location, with spectacular views across a valley to the Woodchester Valley Vineyard. The cottage is on the edge of the village of Amberley, which although small, has two well regarded pubs. Amberley backs onto the National Trust common land of Minchinhampton Common, a unique 600 acre open space with far reaching views, which offers walking, kite flying and an 18-hole golf course. The larger towns of Nailsworth and Stroud are close by, offering a vibrant selection of restaurants, shops and award-winning farmers markets. Grange Cottage is an ideal base for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, as well as for exploring the wider Cotswolds region and further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford and even day trips into London.

This 18th century weavers' cottage boasts beautiful rural views across the valley from many of the rooms and has an abundance of character features, including oak beams, window seats, exposed Cotswold stone walls and a cosy wood burning stove. This traditional character is complemented by modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a SMART TV with DVD player, and a well-presented kitchen.

Grange Cottage sleeps six people, in four bedrooms, with one bathroom and a ground floor cloakroom. The main garden is at the front of the property, with a lawned area, mature shrubs and trees, and a patio area that is perfect for admiring the far reaching views and watching beautiful sunsets. A driveway at the back of the cottage has parking space for up to two cars and there is a further parking space on the lane outside the cottage. Grange Cottage is perfect for a family or group of friends looking for a rural break in the heart of the Cotswold countryside.

Candles are not permitted at the property, due to the fire hazard they present.

Lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our holiday in Grange cottage. Well equipped and beautifully clean with a garden, but with distinctive low beams and tight stair ways. We negotiated the very steep lane to the parking place and enjoyed the views from the front windows. Good walks all around .The nearest town Nailsworth is also within walking distance and had everything we needed. Restaurants, supermarket, take aways and lots of interesting shops. The cottage is in easy reach of lots of the Cotswold favourites. We visited Chegworth roman villa and Painswick

Other Activities:

The Cotswolds are a range of hills in west-central England, sometimes called the "Heart of England". The name Cotswold means "sheep enclosure in rolling hillsides".

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Car: Amberley is easily accessed by car, being located close to the A46 and the A419, and seven miles away from the M5.

Train: The nearest railway station to Amberley is Stroud (approximately three miles away), which has regular, direct services to London Paddington, with a typical journey time of approximately 90 minutes. There is a taxi rank at the station.

Plane: Birmingham International Airport: 75 miles, approximately 90 minute drive; Heathrow International Airport: 90 miles, approximately 90 minute drive.
