About the property

A very comfortable second floor apartment, in a quiet, pretty location with fantastic mountain views from the balcony, overlooking the river, yet only 300m to the ski lifts and local shops, including a mini-supermarket, bakery, crêperie, restaurants and ski hire. The apartment is 800m from the village centre and 500m from the Pontet Leisure Park, with hiking trails from the doorstep. The apartment has 2 bedrooms; 1 bedroom with a double bed and the other with adult-sized bunk beds sleeping 2. This is supplemented by a full-size sofa bed in the living room, suitable for 2 adults, where required. There is a family bathroom with bath and shower overhead and a separate toilet. The apartment is well appointed throughout, with a fully equipped kitchenette, including dishwasher and washing machine; fluffy duvets and pillows; flatscreen TV and DVD player; allocated parking and ski locker at your disposal; cot and highchair available on request at no extra charge. Overall, a superb little apartment, perfectly located for both summer and winter ski holidays, only an hour and a half from Geneva airport by car or bus.

About Nicola Mayhew

We fell in love with Les Contamines over 10 years ago and have been skiing here ever since. It is very much a family-orientated resort and our two children, Hannah and James, adore the ski instructors who are fun, patient and speak very good English. Having considered a number of apartments over recent years we finally found our perfect apartment, took the plunge and bought it in 2016. Les Contamines has long been the Brits best-kept secret; we hope you will come to treasure it as much as we do.

Why Nicola Mayhew chose Les Contamines-Montjoie

Les Contamines is a very pretty, unspoilt, traditional, Savoyard village which is easily accessible by car via a gentle climb from Saint Gervais. The ski runs are wide and long, pistes uncrowded, with excellent skiing for all levels of skiers and superb snow conditions. In the village, the shops and restaurants are of a high quality without being pretentious. We especially like the small, friendly, welcoming atmosphere, where the village has a real community feel and all are made to feel like old friends on their return. Les Contamines is on the Tour de Mont Blanc circuit, so hiking opportunities are endless. It is also close to both the Italian and Swiss borders, making Les Contamines an excellent base for touring. This also affords more opportunities for further activities such as white water rafting and canyoning.

What makes this apartment unique

Quiet riverside location with stunning views yet convenient for all activities both in winter and summer.The apartment is literally a 3 minute walk to the ski lifts, a brilliant advantage if you have young children. At the same time the location is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the lifts and local shopping area that the tranquility of the location is maintained. You can still enjoy a glass of wine on the balcony at the end of the afternoon, in the sun, listening to the sounds of the river as it flows by. Pure relaxation! The village, with a good selection of shops and restaurants, is a lovely 10 minute stroll by the river. If you don’t want to go that far, the excellent Barattet restaurant, serving drinks and traditional Savoyard fayre, is only 2 minutes across the road. There are hiking routes right from the doorstep and the Pontet Leisure Park with its bathing lake and numerous activities is only a short 5 minute walk. The Nordic park with cross-country skiing, rock climbing, sleigh rides and husky encounters is also found here.

Lovely accommodation, with all the amenities to make your stay extremely welcome

Spent a week here from 15-22 April 17, weather was great, plus there was still snow with good conditions.

The apartment is clean and tidy and has everything you need to make your holiday a comfortable and enjoyable break.

300 metres from cable bubble, and about an 8 minute walk along the river into the village centre.

Overall, highly recommend for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.

Lovely apartment in a beautiful location in Les Contamines

We stayed in this lovely apartment in October and the weather was sunny and warm so we went on a lot of hikes in the local area. The location is stunning, right near the river. It's about an hour from Geneva airport and a similar distance from Annecy. It is much nearer Mont Blanc, Chamonix & Megeve. The place was spotless and very homely. The local village is walking distance and there are several lovely little restaurants nearby. It was easy to find and the route in the car from Geneva was fairly easy too. I would recommend this to people who enjoy a fairly quiet holiday walking around and exploring in the beautiful French countryside or who want to ski. We were obviously too early for the ski season but the skiing in this area looks excellent. We cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend this lovely apartment.

Les Contamines is a small, friendly, pretty village nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc, in the heart of France’s highest nature reserve. It has maintained it’s Savoyard traditions with it’s timber chalets and Baroque churches and boasts spectacular mountain scenery. Part of the vast Evasion Mont Blanc ski domain, with 445km of piste (120km in Les Contamines) at a height of 1164m-2,500m, skiing is fantastic for both beginner or expert on uncrowded pistes, with excellent snow conditions. Outside the long ski season, which runs from Christmas to mid April, mountain biking is possible. Its proximity to the Tour de Mont Blanc also makes Les Contamines popular with hikers and there are numerous mountain hikes (to the refuges Tré-La Tête, Conscrits and Le Miage, to name but a few) as well as valley hikes (Le Sentier du Baroque) and in the summer, the

Pontet Leisure Park (the largest in the region) provides many activities such as bathing at the lake, pedalos, treetop adventure trails, zip wires, tennis and mini golf. There is truly something for

everybody, all year round.

Easily accessible by car 12 hours Calais, 5.5 hours Paris, 1.5 hours Geneva airport; Train from St Gervais or Bus 1.5 hours regular service from Geneva airport.
