2 Bedrooms, 2 Full Baths w/Fireplace In Millwork District

The “Loft” unit can sleep 8+ people. It has two+ bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed. The second bedroom has a full-size bed. The bathroom off the master bedroom has a shower tub. The sectional in the living area can be converted to a queen-size sleeper. In the loft, there is a futon, and trellis bed that can also sleep four people all together, & an inflatable queen mattress. There are four flat screen TV’s– one in each bedroom, one in the living area, and one in the loft. This unit is cottage-style, and has a beautiful wrought iron circular staircase leading to a cozy loft overlooking the kitchen area. This unit is on second floor.

About Tim Rusk

My husband and I are native Dubuquers. We came up with this idea after staying at a cozy vacation rental in La Jolla, CA. It sat on top of a small restaurant that served breakfast and lunch. My husband spotted this property, and approached me with the idea, stating that if I wasn't 1000 percent "In", he would just forget about it. Needless to say, I was 1000% "In", and here we are, three years and an additional building later, ready to share our dream with you! We hope you will love it as much as we do!

We chose this property for two reasons. First, we both grew up in this area of Dubuque. Second, we love what Dubuque is doing for the downtown area, and feel that the Millwork District will continue to grow and will be the place to go in Dubuque.

Perfect location and very quiet

We are originally from Dubuque and travel back several times a year. This trip (a nephew's wedding), we opted to rent a place instead of staying with family. A fantastic decision. And this rental fit our needs very well. Four of us stayed here for 6 nights. Plenty of room for all of us (one of us is a snorer, so we put him in the loft - we all slept really well). Beds are comfortable and with bedroom doors closed, very quiet. Two of us wake up significantly earlier than the others, but we did not disturb the others making coffee, getting ready for the day, etc. They could stay up later and didn't disturb us either. There is a great deck, but note that you don't have access to the hot tub if you stay in "THE LOFT" unit.

We held a couple of family get togethers (between 8-10 people in this space - just drinks and snacks) and that worked really well! The gas stove was a favorite. The table is a little awkward in the kitchen/dining - it's a little too big, as are the stairs in the middle of the unit, but not a huge deal. Construction and decor is excellent and comfortable!

We had no problems with the space (we had to tighten bolts on the bench in kitchen), and all the appliances (and heat) worked well. Plenty of towels and supplies. We really liked this place. Be VERY careful of the parking. Street parking has some confusing rules, so take advantage of the dedicated DRAKE HOUSE parking spots about 1/2 block away.

Booking, and getting and out of the unit was easy (they have a lock box). There is a pretty good flight of stairs getting up to the unit, if that is a concern. The stairs are in excellent condition and there is a rail, but a full flight.

This is a great rental. It made our trip.

Everything is as advertised, Amazing

The Millwork district is a great place to hang out and this is a great place to stay while you're there. Place is very modern, everything is in great shape and the design is just awesome. The gas fireplace is great in the winter.

Great coffee and breakfast downstairs. Brazen is a few blocks away for great drinks and awesome Sunday breakfast.

This place does not disappoint.

Suamico (Green Bay)

Great place in Dubuque

We were thrilled with the Drake Loft. It was as nice as the pictures show, and the location is perfect. We were one block from the summer farmers market, within walking distance to the best restaurants downtown, and within steps of the finest coffee shop in town!

Highly recommend staying. The only recommendation is for those who are sensitive sleepers, bring ear buds as you are on a fairly busy street so you can hear cars, trucks and near by train whistles.

Absolutely wonderful!

We had a 5 day family reunion here with 5 adults and 2 children. The place is absolutely beautiful. Given wonderful weather we were able to use the deck often for reading or relaxation. The owners were prompt and responsive to any questions or needs. Having a coffee shop on the ground floor and a hot tub on the deck -----reallllllly nice!!!!

Amazing place in a great location!

We had a group of 6 ladies and had the two apartments for us to share. It worked perfectly for our group and each place was VERY nice. The kitchen had all the typical utensils and pots/pans. We really enjoyed the hot tub! And the location was great; Galena was a short drive away, there is a coffee shop downstairs, and it's close to nightlife. We really enjoyed our weekend stay here!
