About the property

3 bedroom family friendly seaside cottage

We are thrilled to offer Camellia Cottage as a beautiful and homely harbourside cottage, just 2 minute walk to Portreath beach. We are now in our second year of holiday letting having had a successful first year with lots of happy guests and a good number of wonderful weeks in Cornwall ourselves.

This 3 bedroom property sleeps 6 guests (plus 1 infant) in a double, twin and bunk room. Both the double and bunk room overlook the harbour. For your comfort the double room features a king size bed and the twin beds are extra long (6'6"). There is a travel cot, highchair and stairgate available if you are bringing an infant. The bathroom completes the upstairs accomodation and includes a shower enclosure above the bath. For the convenience of guests bath and hand towels are provided for use during your stay, however guests must bring their own towels for use on the beach.

Downstairs there is a spacious lounge with beamed ceiling and bow window to take full advantage of the harbour views. The lounge includes a wood-burning stove that makes it extra cosy in the winter. Adjoining the lounge is a fully equipped kitchen/diner in which you will find all the usual kitchen equipment as well as: dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer, table and chairs for 6.

Outside, with the harbour located immediately beyond, the front patio area provides a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee while taking in the views of boats bobbing and indulging in some people spotting - including watching people jumping into the water from the harbour wall or cliffs! Where the enclosed back patio proves to be a sun trap in the evening to ensure you can enjoy the last of the day while listening to the sound of the sea. In practical terms there is also a clothes line and airers for drying your beach wear ready for your next day of adventure. There is unrestricted on-road parking to the rear of the property and a private parking area to the side.

Portreath is a North Cornish coastal village nestled in a valley between imposing cliffs. It's beautiful sandy beach is ideal and safe for bathing and watersports because of its often sheltered situation and RNLI lifeguard cover. Portreath village includes shops, restaurants, takeaways and is accessible with a train station in Redruth (5 miles) and a regular bus service.

Rental Rules

CHECK-IN TIME is AFTER 4 P.M. AND CHECKOUT is 10 A.M.

NO Early check-in or late checkout.

SMOKING

This is a NON SMOKING property.

PETS

PETS are not permitted in the property under any conditions.

SECURITY/DAMAGE DEPOSIT

A security deposit of £150 is required. It is fully refundable within 7 days of departure, provided the following provisions are met:

No damage is done to property or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.

No charges are incurred due to illegal activity, pets or collection of rents or

services rendered during the stay.

All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in rubbish bin, and soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned.

The property requires a typical level of cleaning. Anything above this will be charged at £25 per hour and deducted from the security deposit.

The key is returned to the key safe and unit is left locked, this includes all doors and windows

All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure.

No linens are lost or damaged.

Towels must not be taken to the beach

NO early arrival or late departure.

The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner) or local

law enforcement.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will no penalty.

Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made between 30 days and 60 days of the arrival date, will be subject to a 50% cancellation charge.

Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 30 days of the arrival date forfeit the full advance payment and reservation deposit.

Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY

The maximum number of guests is limited to seven (7) persons, with no more than 6 adults/children plus 1 infant in a cot. If a booking is found to exceed this limit then all guests may be asked to leave and will forfeit all monies paid.

AVAILABILITY

The contract is made on the understanding that the property will be available for the dates stated. In the unlikely event that the property is not available through events arising out of the control of the property owner, the property owner may be forced to cancel the booking. The hirer will be advised of such circumstances as early as practically possible and the property owner will refund all monies paid in full but the hirer will have no further claims against the property owner.

LIABILITY

The property owner shall have no liability for death or personal injury unless this results from the negligence of the property owner.

INCLUSIVE FEES

Rates include a one-time linen & towel setup.

NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE

While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not

included in the rental rate. We suggest you bring beach towels. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the property.

FALSIFIED BOOKINGS

Any booking obtained under false pretence will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in.

WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS

Any exceptions to the policies mentioned above must be approved in writing in advance.

PARKING

There is unrestricted on road parking behind the property and to the side there is space for 1 guest vehicle alongside the block of garages. Please refer to welcome pack for detail of exactly where to park in this area to ensure you do not cause anyone else to be blocked in.

INSURANCE

It is your responsibility to take out adequate travel insurance and cover for the duration your trip.

I grew up in Cornwall, enjoying summers on the beach and wanted to give my children a taste of my special memories. This property is just 2 mins from a great and safe beach meaning we can easily go for the day or just pop across for an hour. I love the harbour views and the wood burning which makes it a great homely base all year round.

Well equipped cottage. Fantastic location.

The cottage had everything we needed including the cot, high chair and stair gate for the one year old. The children enjoyed playing with the toys in the morning. The position of the cottage at the end of the harbour was great. We all loved sitting on the window seat in the morning and out on the balcony in the evening watching the tide coming and going, a great interest to our four year old and an opportunity for her to learn about such things. It was amazing being able to sit there with a direct view of the sunset, of which we had a few beautiful ones. The location to the sandy beach was brilliant where we all enjoyed exploring the caves and rock pools. Watching ‘the teenagers’ , as our four year old called them, jumping off the harbour wall kept us entertained each evening as did the water safety class of forty children that was held directly in front of the balcony on the Friday evening whilst the children sat out having their dinner, they wouldn’t go in until the lesson was finished but they learnt a lot about being safe in the water. We had a wonderful trip to Minnack theatre to see Dr Dolittle, a marvellous experience. Well situated for trips out. We all felt sad to leave and would have loved to stay another week as we also had perfect weather. We would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely Portreath Cottage location

Situated on the harbour side and close to all amenities, Bakery, Cafes, Pubs, Ice-cream, Chinese takeaway, local shop.

Short walking distance to beach with long coastal walks in either direction. Cottage was well equipped for a home away holiday, including dish washer, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, iron, ironing board, etc, towels and bed linen included. We loved sitting watching the tide flowing in and out of the harbour or you could watch the sun setting across the beach from the landing window or seated from the front terrace. Lovely enclosed rear space. Level walking from the cottage to all local amenities albeit one slight incline but equally great for those more active, requiring walking or surfing holiday. My grandson made use of the board games and the WiFi connection and I read some of the books on Cornwall, the TV had basic channels, but there is a dvd player if you wish to take your own dvd's to watch later in the evenings.

Camellia Cottage is in a perfect location in Portreath, so convenient.

The cottage is very well equipped with everything you would need in a holiday home. The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. The only negative comment I would make is the sofa in the lounge is really uncomfortable, but having said that, we had a lovely holiday in Camellia Cottage and will be booking to stay there again.

Lovely cosy cottage :)

Lovely homely cottage and friendly village (Great bakery). The cottage felt cosy but with plenty of space. Everything we needed was provided including washer/dryer and dishwasher. The cottage was warm with an open fire and central heating as well. We will be back. 5* stay. Thank you Gail.

Camellia Cottage

We had a lovely relaxed holiday in Camellia Cottage. The cottage was really clean and very comfortable with stunning views across the harbour and out to sea through the upstairs side window. We were very lucky with the weather too. Although it was very windy, we had a sunny and dry week.

The only issue we had was that the towel rail didn't work in the bathroom, so we had to dry the towels over the radiators. We also felt that a full length mirror in one of the rooms would be really beneficial.

All in all we had a great week and would certainly recommend the cottage.
