Only 1 hour 15 mins from Geneva, Chalet Basile is situated at 1250m above the beautiful spa town of St. Gervais, with stunning views of the Val Montjoux, and Mont Blanc. The chalet is a comfortable and well-equipped home for 10 people. There is a large open-plan living and dining area, with a log fire, and TV/DVD; and an open well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs are five double bedrooms, three with balconies. In summer, you can climb Mont Joly from the door of the chalet, or explore some of the finest hiking country in the Alps. Lovely well equipped chalet in fabulous locatiom

  • 5 of 5

Chalet was very spacious (for our family of 5), well layed out, private and equipped with everything we needed. Terrific views, lovely area with excellent walking, lakes for swimming and shops/restaurants a 10 minute drive away in St.Gervais. Highlight was the cable car from Chamonix up the Aiguelle du Midi, go early on a clear day (and take warm clothes) for an unforgettable trip. Louise (local contact) was very helpful, with good advice about the local area. The booking arrangements all very smooth. Highly recommended, would love to visit again sometime.

fantastic

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Chalet Basile ,we came with our two children their partners and our four grandchildren aged from 2 to 12 years old. The three older ones all learnt to ski last year, and continued to improve. The chalet provided us with plenty of room and is very cosy, There are toys sledges and lots of books for the children and the garden is a bonus to build snowmen. The drive up to Le Bettex and ski schools and the gondoler takes about 7 minutes, if its not too icy on the road. The chalet has always been clean and tidy and Lou will help with any problems you may have. It is to be noted that this is a very quiet place and not for people who want the apre ski life style with lots of restaurants and bars , thats what we like about it's nice and quiet ,which is not for everybody. The only downside is the driveway which is almost impossible to get up even with snow chains if it is snowy but i understand improvements are going to be made this year. We Love the homeliness of this chalet and look forward to going again next year all being well

Chalet Basile

  • 5 of 5

We had the most lovely holiday staying at Chalet Basile with my parents and 2 young children. The views were wonderful all around the chalet and we loved being able to sit out in the garden looking over to Mont Blanc and the surrounding mountains. It was very peaceful and quiet. We were met by Lou who was very helpful answering our many questions and throughout our stay. We stayed in June and only had one cloudy day with a bit of rain otherwise all round sunshine. The chalet was clean and incredibly well equipped from the kitchen to games/books/toys for children and local information. I have found it quite difficult finding a chalet with a decent sized garden which again Chalet Basile provided. Liz and Peter were also very helpful (and patient!) prior to our holiday and nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend staying at Chalet Basile and will definitely go back in the future.

Holiday at Chalet Basile

  • 5 of 5

After shopping at Carrefour at Sallanches, we drove to the Chalet loaded with good French produce. Travel is always exciting but to arrive is better. The Chalet is reached by a steep driveway – a little challenging for the unexpected. But what a pleasant surprise on arrival. The house is built in the traditional style wood above and white below. The front door leads to a warm, large and generous sitting and dining room with great ceiling height and a sort of minstrels’ gallery from the nearest bedroom.

There is a well set-up kitchen with a serving shelf which acts as a room divider and breakfast bar. And everywhere large windows with enormous , breathtaking views... Views of Mont Blanc in all its moods, views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. Views of ever changing light - sun sweeping across vast snow fields (we were there at Christmas.)

The house is set out on four floors and seems to have endless bedrooms and bathrooms and all is comfortable. Crisp clean sheets and shiny bathrooms, loads of hot water. The rooms are of a good size with plenty of cupboard space. There is also tons of storage for ski boots, sticks, anoraks and so on (We chose to leave our skis overnight at the Ski Hire Shop.)

The slopes are a short drive away - I’d guess ten minutes. We would pick up our skis and a short drag lift leads over to a series of lifts and the ski school. We are a family of skiers so we went skiing every day – we were very lucky with both the weather and the snow conditions.

St Gervais Les Bains was a lovely little town – with a good selection of restaurants, shops and small supermarkets.

We had a wonderful trip and would recommend both the resort and the Chalet. One day we hope to return.

An Ideal Alpine Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Basile lived up to its web site description and provided our family of ten with an ideal base to explore the

beautiful surroundings. The views from the property were stunning. Though we spent most time out of doors, the chalet lacked for nothing when we were there---spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms, beds, garden furniture and enough bathrooms and showers to mean no queuing!! The children appreciated the 'den' with games and DVDs and enjoyed time in the large garden. The surrounding area provided great opportunuties for hiking, biking swimming and luge-ing as well as the 'GoApe' facility at Les Contamines which was a great hit with most of our group. Photographers will love the area. Our party ranged in age from 4 to 69 and we all found the chalet fulfilled all our needs. We were too tired in the evenings to seek out the bright lights of St. Gervais. Teenagers might find it a bit inaccessible if they wanted to visit bars or discos but that caused us no problem. The owner was very helpful with prompt responses and informatio and the local liaison was a tower of strength --no problem was beyond her---even the runaway cow.

I'd certainly recommend Chalet Basile to any like-mimded family group.

Chalet Basile is situated on the mountain side at 1250m above the beautiful C19th spa town of St. Gervais-les-Bains. From the sitting room, the garden, and from the balconies of two of the bedrooms, there are stunning views of the Val Montjoux, and Mont Blanc. It is 5 mins up to the nursery slopes and ski lifts of Le Bettex, or 10 minutes down to the shops and restaurants of St. Gervais. The beautiful and ancient town of Megeve is a 15 minute drive. The surrounding area provides many additional skiing options - such as Les Contamines, Les Houches or Chamonix - all on the Mont Blanc pass. In summer there is some of the loveliest scenery and best walking in the whole of the Alps, as well as interesting, 'real' and historic towns.

PLEASE NOTE: The mountain road and the private drive to the chalet are very steep indeed. SNOW CHAINS ARE ESSENTIAL IN WINTER.
