My family and I had a wonderful stay at this cottage. The property owners are very gracious and attentive to their renters.

Can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second summer renting this fantastic cottage. The space is perfect for our family and we love bringing our boat and spending time on the lake. Family game nights, BBQ, swimming, and Fourth of July fireworks on the bay made for a perfect week. The cottage is clean and has everything we need. We'll be back!

The house was just what we needed. Private, cozy with all the amenities close at hand

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in Alton Bay. The house was perfect. It was Wonderfully appointed and stocked with anything you could need for a quiet family getaway. Janice was more than receptive to my questions and needs. The cottage is located right on the water and affords you beautiful views morning, noon and night. The cottage is located on a quiet road that is located close to town and attractions but away enough for quiet. You have room and space to sit outside and enjoy the beauty of the Lake.

My family enjoyed reconnecting while enjoying a new tradition of listening to the stereo every night as we made dinner and then watching a movie after a fun filled day of activities.

We can't wait to come back next year.

Exactly as it is presented online! Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Cottage is very comfortable and convenient. Many cottages have numerous steep stairs to get to water. This one is perfect, some stairs but easy and gradual. Beds are clean and comfy. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with kitchen/cookware. The lake is beautiful and so clean. Only downfall is a week isn't enough!

Perfect Family Get-away.

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! Our group included three generations, ages 6 to 70, and everyone had a delightful time in their own way. Beautiful water. Refreshing swimming right from the dock with gradual deepening for the little ones from the shore and good depth from end of dock. (Bring water shoes for the pebbly lake bottom.) We loved using the canoe to explore the lake and fish. Caught a bunch of (little) bass on black wooly buggers, but my friend said worms and bobbers work best. Bedrooms were comfortable, and the sound of lapping waves at night was so calming. The grill works very well, and there is an outside dining area, with lake-views of course, where we ate almost all our meals. That was a special highlight. A big common room has a huge window facing the lake, so even in bad weather you can still be part of nature. The house sits on a quieter street off the main drag; we barely noticed any traffic at all. We went walking along the road from the house with pretty birches and pines along the way. Easy drive to little shops in Alton Bay, and the trailhead for Mt Major is just a few minutes drive away. (Fantastic hike with rocky top and 360 views; the kids grooved on mountain blueberries.) And finally, Janice and John were friendly and helpful hosts. They texted or called back whenever we had questions and were lovely on the whole.

Relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the property in the beginning of July, 2016. The house is relatively small but very cozy and was just enough for our family of 5. We managed sharing a single bathroom just fine. We enjoyed the dock area and access to water. The boys (7 and 9) were playing in the water every day and went fishing with their dad in the dingy or just from the dock. The "beach" access is convenient but it is rocky and you need to wear water shoes to really enjoy it. The house was well-equipped with all you might need. The kitchen had all gadgets and everything else you could use for cooking and serving. Janice was very kind providing recommendations to a great breakfast place (Kitchen Cravings) and asked if we needed anything else and was accessible for questions by phone.

I would bring your favorite card/board games with you if you like playing games as a family. There's a TV and DVD but we didn't bring our DVDs with us, so we couldn't watch it. My husband really liked that but I feel that it could be nice to watch a movie in the evening.

The area is very nice. We went hiking, fishing, jet-skiing, and took the kids to play mini-golf and have some ice cream. Hannaford supermarket or Walmart are 17 minutes away if you need to get something. We went to the movie theater a couple of times too. Overall, it was a great, relaxing vacation. I would stay there again.
