Overview

About the property

Upto 4 adults and 2 children

One Coastguard Cottage, in Caister-on-Sea near Great Yarmouth is a cosy Victorian 3 bedroom ex-coastguard's cottage.

Built in 1881 to house lifeboat men and their families the cottages are located right on the beach to facilitate quick access to the sea. This affords you with direct access through the garden gate onto miles of sandy beaches with a Site of Special Scientific Interest nearby to explore.

The refurbished cottage is designed to provide you a comfortable and relaxing stay and is peacefully located at the end of a quiet no through road. Open your bedroom windows to allow the sounds of the sea with no vehicle noise.

With direct beach access for guests there are no roads or obstacles between the cottage and sea to worry about. Come and go as you please, 5 minutes or 5 hours on the golden sands.

Dog owners can also relax knowing there are no beach restrictions in Caister and the gardens are fully enclosed.

Fish from the beach outside the cottage. Its unnecessary to lug your gear very far or to carry back your large catch a big distance.

There is parking for 2 cars directly outside the cottage.

Important please note that pets are not allowed upstairs in the cottage (stairgate available).

Pet fee £30 per booking up to 2 dogs (contact me if you have more than 2)

Sleeps 4 adults and 2 children (up to 12 yrs old)

1 x superking or twin beds, 1 x double and 1 x children’s bunk beds suitable for children aged up to 12.

Modern, fully equipped kitchen/diner with dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave.

Bright large lounge with wooden floors, log fire and full central heating throughout.

FREE HIGH SPEED 30Mbs WIFI and Freesat/DVD on a 42” HD TV.

The modern bathroom has a thermostatically controlled shower and large bath with mat provided.

220 thread count Egyptian Cotton Percale sheets and 600gsm towels are provided for a truly luxurious and comfortable stay.

Gas Central Heating and washing machine

Fully enclosed gardens! One south facing with a lawn and patio with table and chairs and double hammock. The other is decked and level with the interior providing easy access

Two off-road parking spaces outside the cottage

Awesome sea views and sounds.

There are no cottages closer to the sea in this area.

Nearest pub 2 min walk.

However I think we have at least another 5 pubs to choose from nearby.

Nearest (and greatest and all round awesome Ryan's!!) fish and chips 6 mins. Out the gate and turn right along the sand. Turn right at the lifeboat station and it's ahead of you.

Small family run cafe at the end of the road with a great full English breakfast. Perfect if you don't fancy making it yourself.

We also have a traditional supermarket, Tubby's family butchers, vets and numerous other local and national shops all within a 10 minute walk.

One Coastguard Cottages is on a beautiful golden sandy beach in the old fishermen quarter of the village and close to the High Street with all local amenities.

Caister-on-Sea is a vibrant and friendly village with everything you could expect to find in a larger town and much more.

There is a private and free golf course, speedway, go carts, skydiving, horse and greyhound racing, a Roman site and a castle.

My young family love to visit Bewilderwood.

Norfolk Broads, with boat rentals and rides, Norwich with its theatre and markets and much more are all located within a short distance. Great Yarmouth is a 10 min drive.

It's a great area to visit!

We are a family run business, now in our 8th year and our goal is make your stay with us as comfortable as possible. If you have any special requests please don’t hesitate to email with your questions or comments.

About James Snelling

Stumbled into the holiday cottage in 2011 when we bought number 3 coastguard cottage and moved in there.

James Snelling purchased this cottage in 2007

Why James Snelling chose Caister-on-Sea

Steps from the golden sands of Caister beach, it's cosy, comfortable and secluded.

We have some traditional shops and big supermarkets all in the village.

Pets are welcome if they don't go upstairs into the bedrooms.

What makes this cottage unique

Caister has a Roman ruin, independent lifeboat station and some amazing local fish and chips.

The cottage is at the end of a track so zero passing traffic to help in providing a restful stay.

Oh and did I mention only steps onto a fabulous beach.

Great Yarmouth and Norwich are easily reached as well as the Norfolk Broads and children's attractions. It's all here or nearby.

Brilliant place to stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently brought our twins here on a family holiday, the location of the cottage is amazing, with some much close by to do and places to explore. The cottage it’s self was perfect for us and had all the facilities we needed to make our stay comfortable and easy. James the owner was very helpful and knowledgable about the area and recommended places to go and things to do. We enjoyed it that much that we have booked to go back again next year and a few of our family members are now also looking to booking the cottage too

Great cottage. Had everything you needed. Comfy beds, cottage was clean and welcoming, the kitchen had everything you needed to cook with and the utensils where clean and nice saucepans. Heating was great easy to use. House stayed warm. Nice court yards front and rear of cottage lovely sun traps. James was very welcoming and friendly. He was around if you needed him but kindly left us alone to enjoy our stay. Sandy Beach is right outside the cottage. Excellent for dogs and kids. The beach was clean from rubbish and dog dodo's which was lovely to see. Supermarkets 1 mile away. Even managed to see a couple of grey seals on our last morning walking along the beach :-)

What's not to love 😀

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, warm, cosy and well equipped cottage. Fantastic access to the quiet unspoilt beach which was enjoyed by adults, grandchildren and our dog. Great fish and chips in Caister and easy to get to supermarkets.

On the day we visited Horsey sadly there were no seals on the beach, but we still enjoyed the walk. The locals were friendly and helpful as was James. Our grandchildren enjoyed visiting Bewilderwood. Thoroughly recommend this for a quiet seaside break away from it all.

We stayed in the cottage over the New Year and had a really good stay.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was really nice and had everything we needed. It was so close to the beach and we could just open the back door with the dogs and be straight out onto the beach. The dogs absolutely loved it.

James was very welcoming and knowledgeable of the area.

The only slight drawback was that there was only 1 bathroom and it was downstairs, which wasn't great in the middle of the night. However, the bathroom was really nice and clean.

Even with the bathroom, I would highly recommend this cottage, and will definitely keep it in mind if we wish to go to Norfolk again.
