The ideal location for some days stay in the centre of Madrid enjoying its beautiful historic centre, monuments and museums and its active day & night life. Its extremely well connected for public transport. Sol station with its three Metro lines and local trains is to 100 meters.

The apartment is located in an historic and protected old building with its original facade and balconies but with the comforts of a modern interior design: lift, individual central heating, air conditioning and WIFI and services.

The building is a quiet one in spite of its central location as also is the street behind it. The area is the most central in Madrid so it is an active and busy area.

The loft-studio is in the first level and distributed in 50 square meters: an entrance, a big living-kitchen room, a bathroom and one doubled bedroom. The main living-room is divided in three areas: sitting-area with a sofa-doubled bed and a table, the dinning area with a table and chairs for four people and the full-equiped kitchen with a cooker, an oven, a fridge/freezer, a microwave and all the necesary dinner and cooking service. The kitchen has a door to an internal patio where locates an area for washermachine, drying clothes and general storage. The flat is fitted with one wardrobe and shelves that are made to measure. The flat could also be used for some months stays because its well equiped furniture and services.

The views cames from three traditional balconies open to one of the most traditional Madrid old streets. Historic tours, cycle paths and also taxis and buses can be reached in the street down the apartment.

About Cristina Ruiz

Architect and teacher. The apartment was the former architecture office of the hostess and his partner, who renovated the whole building in 2000. The instalations and services are new: elevator, air conditioned, internet but the old character of the building was preserved: facade, wood structure, main staircase and balconies.

The best of all is its wonderful location in the heart of Madrid, that allows to enjoy its lovely days and nights in the most beatiful environment: monuments, convents and historic buildings conform the traditional streets around. The best place not to miss anything Madrid can offer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely and efficient loft in the heart of Madrid. The location was perfect- close to many attractions , restaurants, shopping as well as the metro. The bed was very comfortable and the ability to open the 3 balcony windows was a plus for us. We would definitely recommend this apartment.

Excellent location

The location was the best factor. It was a few paces to Plaza major and Puerta del Sol. Access to the metro and the RENFE at Puerta del Sol was convenient. We had a hire car and it was not needed because of the location. We would not recommend a hire car because of the busy traffic and expense and difficulty in parking although there were several parking garages (underground) nearby.

It was noisy because of the location and we knew that. The apartment is located over an ice cream shop which was very busy an somewhat noisy. Also the trash collectors are noisy when they pick up the trash in the early morning. We did not see this as a major negative factor.

The check in process was a bit difficult because of our communications. We thought that Cristina would meet us and instead Alvaro (her assistant) met us. He was very capable, helpful and competent. The check in process could be improved by more specificity in the communications.

Catching a taxi to the airport when we departed was easy. Taxis travel this one way street frequently and there are many taxis just one block away at Puerta del Sol.

We recommend this apartment and would rent it again.

Central Madrid is very busy and private cars is only an annoyance. As for the ice cream shop, I have an argument with them because they might be more respectful about timetable. Enjoyed our stay in this quaint Madrid apartment located in between Plaza de Mayor and Puerto del Sol. Walk to all the major sites. Apartment is clean and comfortable and Cristina was always available if needed.

The apartment has two wonderful advantages: 1. its location less than two minutes walk from the Puerta del Sol (Madrid central point); and 2. its modern and comfortable services, because the building was recently renovated. The central location -but without the fuss of Puerta del Sol- makes all services to be nearby: the public transport is excellent with three underground lines and Sol railway station (conected with main Atocha and Chamartín stations) ; the airport is less than 40 minutes by train or metro, and Atocha railway station lies less than 10 minutes from Sol underground or railway station.

The shopping area is all around: big malls, shops and small markets.

The Paseo del Arte crosses Esparteros street, so the apartment is quite near the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Museums and other historical places as Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Palacio de Oriente, Descalzas Reales, etc. These are just a short walk by foot (also by bicycle, because the pedestrian areas include bike lanes).

The cultural life is also around: the Teatro Real (opera & concert hall), the Teatro Español (classic Spanish theater) and many others as Teatro de la Zarzuela, Teatro Apolo and the music-hall in Gran Via. Also the tablaos (flamenco-taverns) as Casa Patas or Cafe de Chinitas or jazz live concerts in the Cafe Central are 10 minutes away walk.

The bars, restaurants and tapas areas are really close: the Santa Ana plaza, Cava Baja, Mercado de San Miguel and the night life with many bar de copas (drink or cocktail bars) & discos (Joy Eslava; etc).

It's highly recommended to use the public transport: besides the tube and trains, there are many bus lines and taxis. If you like cycling, nowadays there are many pedestrian streets and bike-lanes: Mayor and Alcala streets have one. By bicycle you can arrive soon to the big parks: Madrid-Rio, Casa de Campo and the beautiful historic Retiro Park and also gardens as Plaza de Oriente with its Royal Palace. The Paseo del Arte (Art promenade) path can be reached easily. In the nearby there are some shops that rent cycles, and organize bicicle tours for tourist

The guests are welcomed by the hostess the first day, who explains the services and the apartment accomodations. Information and advises can be explained in English, French, German or Italian.

The apartment is located in a old building with only four apartments: one for each level. So it is a quiet one. Neighbours are people whith a familiar life. So loud music and noises are forbidden from 24.00 pm until 8.00 am. Also parties.

It's not allowed to smoke inside the building (apartment or common areas). Only on the exterior balconies.

The guest are welcomed anytime between 9.00 am and 23.00 pm. If arrival will be in another time please ask the hostess in advance.
