About Nicola Lloyd
My husband and I and our 3 girls moved to Marbella 6 years ago and fell in love with the area, due to its proximity to the mountains, beach and it's exceptional climate all year round, not to mention the warm hearted, hospitable, Andalusian people. We decided to buy "The Orchid" 2 years ago. We completed a large renovation project on the house last year and now would like to offer the use of our Ground floor apartment to golf and beach lovers for their holidays. As a family we love the outdoors, watersports and skiing.
Nicola Lloyd purchased this Apartment in 2014
Why Nicola Lloyd chose San Pedro de Alcántara
It's a charming house and is surrounded by private gardens that are not overlooked by neighbours. We invite you to relax in the hammock reading a book or chill out by the pool on one of our sunbeds. The apartment is all on one level and is totally independent to the main house and has its own entrance and is accessed along a garden path. The house is in an ideal location, surrounded by the prestigious Guadalmina Golf course, it’s just 2 minutes’ walk to a quaint shopping centre with boutique shops, 2 delicious bakeries serving fresh croissants, a health food shop and supermarket, as well some exceptional, highly rated eateries in the area. The walk to Puerto Banus is a pleasant 20 minute walk along the seafront. The old town of San Pedro which also has a great selection of restaurants and shops is about a 15 minute walk. We are about a 1 hour drive from the historical city of Malaga. Ronda, famous for its full bodied wines and stunning countryside is a 45 minute drive and the Natural Park area and sand dunes of Tarifa (also known for its kite surfing and hippy chic vibe) is about 50 minutes’ drive. Andalusia is also famous for its white washed villages. Marbella’s quaint, cobbled streets of the old town and Orange Square come alive on an evening with its boutique shops and cafes and tapas bars. Mijas, Vejer de la Frontera, Casares and Gaucin are all fine examples of some of the white washed villages dotted around the Sierra de Ronda Mountain range.

Lovely place in an ideal location
My husband and I were lucky enough to stay here for a week in Sept. The property is lovely and Nicky the owner was really helpful with nothing too much trouble.
We had full use of the garden and pool during our stay.
The property is on a nice quiet road with easy access to local shops and restaurants. San Pedro was a 15 to 20 min walk and cost about 7Euros in a taxi. We also walked to Puerto Banus in about an hour 15 min and visited Estopona and Ronda.
Overall a brilliant week we would highly recommend a stay with Nicky and her family.
It was a pleasure Jeanette to have you and Gary to stay. So glad you enjoyed your time here. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Take care. Hope Gary’s heel is on the mend. Nicky Xxxx
Excellent garden room close to amenities well positioned for traveling around
Great place to stay close to shops and restaurants easy access to main routes but secluded from any traffic noise would highly recommend.
Nicola the owner met us with a starter pack which was a nice touch she gave us complete run of the garden and pool area although we were in part of a beautiful villa we had our own entrance .
We were here inJanuary but the weather was great could sit out no problem
Thank you so much for your kind comments John. It was a pleasure having you and Helen to stay and we hope to welcome you again soon at Casa Orquidea.
Comfortable and very friendly place
Carlos, Nicky & family were the perfect hosts, so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble . We were there for 3 weeks and felt at home.
Things to do in and around Marbella and San Pedro.
Marbella has a beautiful old town around the orange Square (Plaza Naranjo) with many great restaurants and shops, as well as a port. Some of our favorite tapas / restaurants are: -
1 / Tanguita, in the old town. This is an Argentinian grill with rooftop terraces.
2 / Caperuza in Calle Aduar 22, is an alternative restaurant tapas, that do not cook with tomatoes, but make exquisite, modern tapas.
3 / Tapa Paca, Calle Peral 18, which is a cider and tapas bar in the old town.
4 / Conpassion, San Lazaro Street. This tapas bar is also in the old town and has great tapas at a very reasonable price. The deco is very basic but very atmospheric.
5 / House Anis. This is a restaurant, in the old town was originally an affordable French bistro but now is much more expensive. The food is excellent. A place to celebrate special occasions.
6 / Capuccino. This is a lovely cafe that is part of the Don Pepe hotel. The terrace overlooks the sea. It's great for breakfast and light lunches. Also offers cocktails and ice creams.
7 / Trocadero. These are 3 chiringuito beach restaurants; one in central Marbella and one just after the arch and one towards Torre Real, just leaving Marbella. Food is excellent. The décor is Indian, Balinese. It's great for families as they are both on the beach.
8 / Los Mellizos restaurant, Paseo Maritimo, Marbella. This is an excellent fish restaurant offering great paella.
With regard to the beaches, many beaches are coarse sand beaches, with the odd exceptions. One of our favorite whiter sand beach is Reserva de los Monteros, just after the Torre Real turn off coming out of Marbella, direction Malaga. Puerta Banus also have some nice beaches including Playa Fantastica. However, if you're looking for sand dunes, you need to jump in the car and head down to Tarifa (about an hour's drive away), where the beaches are vast white sandy beaches with sand dunes. Rate has a posh hippy vibe.
If you enjoy the outdoors the walkways have been interlinked so that you can walk from Marbella to San Pedro along the beach, or use the cycle track.
One of the greatest attractions of Andalucia is its white washed villages. Mijas is about to 40 minutes drive to Malaga and is a quaint old, white town with cobbled streets. You can even visit the town on Donkey. And one of the new attractions to the Mijas is its chocolate factory.
Another beautiful white washed village close by is Casares. This drive to Casares is very picturesque and on the outskirts there are a number of good restaurants, including Venta Garcia. If you want a good Sunday, it's difficult to beat Aroyo Hondo.
Other places to visit within an hour's drive are Ronda. You can even explore the surrounding area of Ronda on bike, by hiring bikes with a tour guide. Check out http: // www. hikeandbikeholidays com for 2 - 3 hours trips and day trips with a guide.
Malaga is also a beautiful town. At Christmas Calle Larios has a fantastic display of lights and is very atmospheric with shops, cafes and restaurant.
Hope you enjoy your stay!
