Gwithian village backs onto sand dunes which are part of a 3 mile stretch of sandy beaches forming St.Ives Bay on Cornwall's north coast. 2 Nature Reserves and National Trust beach and cliff top walks are nearby. Other restaurants are near the beach. Surfing tuition, board and wetsuit hire are arranged by Gwithian Academy of Surfing ( GAS ), contracted to several local schools. Bike hire can be arranged - our guests are given a 20% discount off surfing and bike hire charges. Bus services to Hayle, St.Ives, Penzance and other towns available from village centre. Hayle, a few minutes drive, has a choice of supermarkets - Co-op, Lidl, Asda, M&S and a variety of restaurants to suit most pockets. Picturesque train route alongside the coast to St.Ives from St.Erth station. St.Ives with its narrow streets and harbour is a 20 minute drive - be aware that car parking can be difficult - best to go by bus or train. Paradise Park, our nearest attraction with its daily Birds of Prey displays and daily feeding of animals is a short drive. Falmouth with its Tall Ships events and other attractions is a 30 minute drive while visits to Tin Mines, some of which go out under the sea, are an easy drive. The open air Minack Theatre, provides many productions during the year - best to book. Seating is on rock - seat pads are supplied - pick a dry night!
Trevor & Elizabeth Greenaway, son Tyson and daughter-in-law Ruth with their 4 year old son Finn Luke Bear are the owners. Many years experience in Hotel ownership and catering. Tyson is an experienced international Surfer with his own beach based Gwithian Academy of Surfing ( GAS ) which is contracted to several local schools. Both families live in Gwithian - Tyson, Ruth and young Finn live opposite the holiday accommodation while Trevor and Elizabeth are at the beach end of the village.
The owners built the holiday property in 1975 and have spent many years since then ensuring the property is always in the best condition with yearly upgrades and improvements - the latest inspection was in July 2016 - we were awarded 3 Stars GOLD from Quality in Tourism, Visit Cornwall and Enjoy England Tourist Boards. There are 2 Apartments with 2 bedrooms, Longships and Wolf Rock and 2 Apartments with 1 Bedroom, Trevose and St.Anthony and the 3 bedroomed, 2 Bath, Godrevy House. We are pleased that over the years we have many return guests. Longships a ground floor Family Apartment has a main bedroom with a double bed and the 2nd bedroom has a double bed and a single bed. The Wolf Rock Family apartment is on the 1st floor and has a main bedroom with a double bed and the 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds. The two 1 bedroom apartments - St.Anthony with a double bed on the 1st floor - the other Trevose on the ground floor with a double and single bed. Longships, Wolf Rock and St.Anthony all have Bath/Shower room. Fully equipped Kitchen and Lounge with Tv/Dvd. Trevose has a modern walk-in Shower room, fully equipped Kitchen and Lounge with Tv/Dvd. All are booked throughout the year. Godrevy House with its Master bedroom which has a Bath and walk-in Shower en suite. A 2nd bedroom with a double bed and the 3rd bedroom with 2 single beds share a separate Shower room. Fully equipped american styled Kitchen, separate Dining Room and a large Lounge with Library, Tv/Dvd. Private enclosed Patio. Ample free car parking. All linens, towels and WiFi are included in the tariffs.
