The Tintic Goldminers Inn is a restored historic home located in Eureka, Utah, 20 miles west of the I-15 Santaquin exit, south of Provo. Built circa 1915 by the Chief Consolidated Mining Company, it was the home of J. Fred Johnson, mine superintendent. Renovations began in 2007 retained the original character of the home, which Fred Johnson, and his wife Lillian, would recognize today. Modern amenities were added, bringing the home up to current building standards.
Eureka is rich in mining history. The ghost towns of Dividend, Homansville, Knightsville, Mammoth and Silver City are within minutes. Many buildings along Eureka's 'ghost town' main street are currently being restored (summer 2015).
We have a Cook on staff if you purchase a meal plan (give your cooks a vacation too!), or the B&B kitchen is available with your whole house booking. We have a large common area and dining room (800 sf), 72" big screen TV and Wi-Fi. There are beds for 20, cots and mats allowing for approx 30 guests.
We love kids! We have a kid's playroom inside, doll house, and a play area in the fenced backyard. There are also board games, and a moderate selection of DVD's for everyone.
Norman and Margaret, a retired Military couple, have chosen this quiet mountain setting in the Tintic Historic Mining District as their home. We love to share the history of Eureka and this home! Our greatest hope is for you to enter our door and immediately feel welcome and at home. We are family friendly and love children. We live on site in a basement apt, and will do all in our power to make your stay here the best ever!
Margaret and Norman Gillen purchased this hotel in 2006
We purchased this "21-room bungalow mansion" after discovering its significance in sustaining this mining district through World War 1, the Depression, World War 2 and into the 1950's. It has been a labor of love, preserving and updating this house listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
It is a great place to enjoy your family reunion or retreat without the rush of everyday life. Enjoy the mountain high desert setting and expect a rural feel, quiet nights, star gazing, no traffic noise, and no cell phones (Verizon does work, if desired!). Travel back in time and visualize how you would have fit into this mining community in the early 1900's (without giving up your favorite amenities).
Your cooks can have a break too! Meal plan available!! Call 435-433-2247 for details. Must be arranged with B&B in advance.
The home in Eureka was perfect for us! We had 21 people and it fit us perfectly. The common area was big enough for us to gather in and still be comfortable! Our goal was to spend time bonding as a family and we were able to do that. The kids had fun sledding and playing in the snow. It was a great time for us! The owners were great to work with and took really good care of things. We would definitely stay here again.
I brought all of my 7 kids, their spouses and my grandchildren 28 of us in total and we stayed 4 nights. The owner was very nice and the home is in great shape and well decorated with many antique items. All but one bedroom are on the upper floor. Three of the six bedrooms are very spacious and the others adequate. All are nicely furnished. Two have their own kitchens. The yard is nicely done and very private, the view is amazing. Overall we loved the place. My wife lived in Eureka as a teenager and so it was special for us, but we found it to be the greatest place on earth for those who like to use 4 wheelers. There are so many place to go on a 4 wheeler that it is amazing. Many old mines are scattered about everywhere you look. Of course the Little Sahara sand dunes is close as well. So if you bring 4 wheelers, you will love the place. The town has a fascinating history. The museum waits for you to call and they come down and open for you. The people of the town are all incredibly nice and although it is not a resort town, it is a great place to go and get away from the fast pace. Bring what you need as it is not convenient to anywhere.
The Little Sahara Sand Dunes are located approx 20 min away. There are trails throughout the nearby mountains with amazing views. Some are car accessible, most are for off-road type vehicles. There are many places to hike. Dugway geode beds, trilobites, Topaz Mountain, agates, and Vernon Wonderstone formations are within 1-2 hours. Paul Bunyon rock formation is 15 min away, and ghost towns and one hundred year-old cemeteries are within 5 miles.
