TOP FLOOR (OF ONLY 4 FLOORS) PENTHOUSE APARTMENT + LARGE PRIVATE SUNROOF WITH FANTASTIC SEA VIEWS

This modern village apartment is an ideal holiday spot for couples or families with children.

2 BEDROOMS - 2 BATHROOMS - LIVING ROOM - KITCHEN - BALCONY - LARGE PRIVATE SUNROOF - LIFT TO YOUR DOOR

It has a master bedroom and balcony with en suite shower room/basin/loo and a 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds and a family bathroom/bath/shower/basin/bidet/loo.

The living room and kitchen have a balcony with fabulous sea views over 20 miles of coastline.

Ceiling fans and air conditioning are installed, and a full kitchen with extensive cutlery and crockery. Electricity is supplied through a simple one euro coin meter.

Fresh linen & towels are provided

(NOTE: We have a similar apartment just below, for friends with their families, that can be also booked.)

UK Freeview (with Spanish modifications) flat screen TV, lots of paperbacks, and games. WIFI is installed

There are restaurants, bars and shops within 100 yards,

easy free parking within 40 yards, and buses stop in both directions 50 yards away.

A village size supermarket, chemist, mobile phone shop, beauty cum health salon, a bank, paper shop, vets, tobacconists, tourist info, hairdressers, fishmongers, butchers, post office all close by, and right next door, a fresh bread & cake shop.

There is a mobile WIFI unit in the apartment that can be charged and paid for daily at the shop next door or we think a much better idea is to take a small beer on the pavement of the bar over the road and use their wifi. They’ll give you their passcode.

Only 4 floors in this modern block of 8 apartments with a lift right to your door.

6 feet from the front door are 14 steps up to your own private sunroof, almost the size of the apartment with loungers, table and chairs, shower and BBQ. You have a key which locks it. The remaining 7 apartments have a shared sunroof at the rear of the building.

Views from your roof are fantastic, from as far as Santa Pola on the coast to the north around to Guardamar on the coast to the south.

A 15 to 20 minute stroll takes you through the surrounding farmland, past the low pine forest and sand dunes to the most beautiful blue flag sand beach that runs for around 7 miles.

There are no buildings except a row of old terraced fisherman's dwellings, and just the pine forest and a large lake and bird sanctuary with watching huts.

There are 3 very Spanish restaurant cum bars on the beach over a stretch of around a mile.

Walking along paths through the forest and around the lakes, watching all the many species of birds, then back along the beach to get a drink at a beach bar, then through the pines back to the road is a joy.

You'll pass Los Carmelos, a local family owned and run tapas and main meal bar that has several large barrels of various wines that you help yourself from, and when you pay your bill they ask how many glasses you've had!

Truly fabulous, Spain 70 years ago!

It's situated 500m south, along the road from the apartment. Open some evenings and lunchtimes, check it out, it's very popular.

If you have a car then parking is free and easy on the road in front of the apartment or side roads.

Within a short drive or bus ride there are numerous golf courses and the really interesting towns of Guardamar del Segura with its street markets and Alicante with its wonderful old town & marina (read below for further info)

Local town Guardamar del Segura is only 5 miles away (easy by bus from across the road opposite the apartment) and has a permanent market and flea market along a road going from town centre to the beach & sea, that skirts the end of the beautiful pine forest, that runs all the way back, some 5 miles to La Marina and the apartment.

Also Guardamar has a weekly market (usually Wednesdays) in the centre of town and side roads.

There are lots of restaurants and bars and a half mile of promenade against the wonderful sand beach for strolling and taking a beer and Tapas.

A further mile or so along the coast south there is Moncayo that has an enormous Sunday market.

Torrevieja is around 8 miles away by the 332 coast road.

To get there is easy by bus from opposite the apartment. It's a large town with a marina and great beach walks along a prom.

Elche just 10 miles away is the centre for palm tree cultivation. There is an enormous palm orchard called a Palmeral.

More than 200 000 palms and a walk around the Palmeral is a sight to behold. It's been there since the 11th century. Buses go from near the apartment.

Alicante is a large town 30 mins away by bus from outside the apartment, that has a fabulous old town with narrow streets and lots of bars & restaurants. It also has a large Marina with many boats plus it's own castle up on a rock overlooking the town.

The main town is shopping heaven.

For sea experiences with trips or renting motor boats, cruising, diving sea trips, snorkelling trips to the island of Tabarca can all be fixed from Santa Pola up the coast 30 min away. In fact if you stand on our sunroof and look to the farthest point north you can see Santa Pola and the island of Tabarca. Bus from outside the apartment.

2 doors from the apartment there is a tourist info shop to check on all interesting local excursions.

About The Owner

I am English born but I live in Rotterdam for many years and found this wonderful apartment last year in an area that I have fallen in love with.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2015

Why The Owner chose Elche

As you can see from the photograph the views are fabulous and we're surrounded by fields and agriculture.

The local business's are almost all Spanish owned and it's so refreshing to be served by locals instead of overseas folks! We love it.

Around 1920 the pine forest was installed, full of low line pines and about 7 miles long and half a mile deep right at the back of the sand dunes.

This was grown to stop the beach further encroaching on the land and as of today no buildings have been built, except the row of ancient fisherman's dwellings which line part of the beach, some of which have become restaurants and bars (totally Spanish owned)

Truly Spain 70 years ago.

What makes this apartment unique

Spain 70 years ago with miles of Blue flag beach and sand dunes.

A 20 minute stroll to the beach through either fields or by 2 choices of a quiet back road, passing absolutely no high rise and little other buildings for a kilometre through the low pine forest to the dunes and the beach.

It has a wonderful charm that you don't see in too many other places.

For 300 yards at the back of the beach there are the original fisherman's tiny shelters, 3 of which are converted to bar/restaurants, the rest are converted to narrow private units at the back of the beach.

The sand beach stretches for miles with the occasional beach bar and you can walk the beach and then cut through fields to the village road and back along to the apartment.

La Marina village is so convenient having several bar/restaurants and all the shops that you need without going elsewhere.

If you are mad keen shoppers then a trip to Guardamar or Torrevieja or Elche is easy by bus from across the road and no more than 20 minutes, or to big Alicante with it's old town, marina and magnificent shopping, just 40 minutes away by bus from outside the apartment.

Notes:
Please be aware that Cleaning & Laundry after your visit is not included and we ask you to pay 60 euro to our key holders and cleaners Sue & Rod when you collect the keys. Sue also acts as your point of contact during your stay for any unforseen problems that may arise and will help where she can. She is not a 'travel rep' but a local English lady with a small business Please also note that Electricity is supplied through a coin meter that only accepts 1 euro coins. The cost is roughly 2 euro per 24 hrs except when air-con is used which roughly doubles to 3.5 euro to 4 euro per 24 hour.

excellent location

from the pick up at the airport till we returned to the airport we had a lovely stay. the apartment is better than the photos and the location, in the main street ,top floor is brilliant. Every thing that you want is at hand. and the view from the roof terrace is super. La Marina is a nice friendly village with plenty of excellent restaurants only a few steps away. The beach is only about 10 minutes walk and well worth it , again the beach is well served with fine restaurants and bars. You will not be disapointed and we will be returning

Fantastic 10 days in relaxing La Marina

Great location in beautiful, peaceful La Marina. Great facilities and panoramic views from your private sunroof. Bakery, Butchers, shop, restaurants, bus stop, banks all on your doorstep. And friendly locals.

Great waterpark if you have kids 10 minutes walk away.

Beaches 15 minutes walk through forests, great restaurants beachside

Dont miss Bodega Los Carmelos restaurant 5 minutes walk out off town, great Tapas and wine by the barrel, literally!

Colin was a great host and very helpful. Would recommend a stay without hesitation if you like peace and relaxation.

Fantastic location fantastic views fantastic beach and more importantly fantastic property

Apartment just the perfect place and location to escape from the 100mph life of living in the UK. Private balcony has wonderful sea view and perfect for relaxing and taking in a few rays. Fresh bakery underneath so nothing like opening your doors and taking not just those wonderful views but also the wonderful aromas of fresh bread and pastries. La Marina on your doorstep and a relaxing beautiful walk to the local beach which stretches for miles. Great holiday would thoroughly recommend

Car: not necessary

A car is not necessary to get to the beach, just 700m by 3 quiet road routes through fields and forest. A car would be a bonus if you want total freedom and to visit the surrounding areas, but the local bus goes both ways, and all facilities are close by. Within 100 yds of the apartment there is a village supermarket, fresh bread & cakes, newspapers, chemist, phone shop, butchers, beauty/health salon, banks, bike rental, several bar/restaurants, There is a bar across the road (one of several) where you can sit outside with a small beer or wine and connect to their WIFI and check your emails. They'll give you their pass code.

A car is not necessary but a bonus if you have one.

Buses go both ways along the coast from only 50m from the apartment.

The wonderful beach is an easy 20 minute walk along 3 different routes.

1. Find your way through fields that begin 70m directly in front of the apartment and wander along paths into or around the pine forest for 400m to emerge at the back of the dunes.

2. Walk along the village in direction of Alicante then beyond the shops/bars for 200m and turn right down a quiet road to the beach.

3. Walk out of the village south for 200m and turn left towards the sea for 500m down a quiet road through the pine forest.

Then stroll the beach either way for a mile or so and cut back through the trees to the village road.

You'll pass Los Carmelos, a local family owned and run tapas and main meal bar that has several large barrels of various wines that you help yourself from, and when you pay your bill they ask how many glasses you've had!

SECURITY DEPOSIT
Please Note: The Security Deposit is required at booking and will be returned inside 14 days after your holiday subject to any damage or loss of keys.
CLEANING & LAUNDRY
On arrival you will meet our key holder / cleaners. You will be required to pay 60 euro for cleaning and laundry, which includes their help and advice throughout your stay.
ELECTRICITY
Electricity is through a meter that requires only euro coins. Any attempt at using other coinage will result in a meter breakdown which will be chargeable.
It costs around 1.5 euro total per 24 hours for all regular equipment but when the Air Conditioning is used it can double to 3 euro per 24 hours and so we advise our guests to please be aware and switch the air con off when going out.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
