Overview

About the property

Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 7 people

Ivy Cottage is a delightful and spacious country house set in a beautiful landscaped garden with lawns, sun trap patios and wonderful views down the Amber Valley. Inside it is attractively decorated and very comfortably furnished. The lovely lounge with its log burning stove and the attractive garden room with French doors to the garden are our favourite places.

Cottage facilities:

A lovely lounge with comfortable suite, T.V., DVD, Freeview, Wi-Fi and glowing log burning stove. A sunny garden room with T.V. DVD, log effect gas stove and French doors to the garden. An oak floored dining room. A quality fitted kitchen with breakfast bar, gas hob, double oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. A utility room with sink, automatic washer and tumble-dryer. A master bedroom with double bed and views down the valley. A second double bedroom with en-suite shower cubicle and views over the garden. A twin bedroom and a single bedroom of the same quality. A superb family bathroom with bath/shower over and WC. A downstairs shower room with W.C.

Linen and towels are provided. Central heating, power and an initial supply of logs for the stove are included. There is an extensive terraced garden with summer house, furniture and shed storage for bikes. Off road parking for two cars is available. Pets and smokers are not permitted. The house is not suitable for children under eight years because of the steep terraced garden. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.

Week bookings are normally Friday to Friday.

Short breaks are available throughout the year (excluding Xmas and New Year). It is the same total price for three or four nights.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I just had to tell you what a wonderful holiday we had in Ivy Cottage. It is a beautiful Cottage with stunning views across the Amber Valley. It was spotlessly clean well equipped with everything there that we could possibly need & was furnished to a very high standard, was cosy with comfortable beds & the bedrooms especially were so pretty as was the lovely garden. The welcome tray was also greatly appreciated after a long journey. We had some lovely walks through beautiful woods where the wild garlic looked like snow intermingled with bluebells & we've never seen such a great variety of birds all in one area. We visited Matlock & Bakewell. Haddon Hall , Chatsworth & Hardwick Hall which were all in easy reach. Our holiday was totally relaxing peaceful & absolutely perfect , in fact all 4 of us said that we've never stayed anywhere before that has got everything. The Cottage is in a beautiful part of the Country & we will definitely be back possibly in September/October to see the Autumn colours. With kind regards from 4 very satisfied customers who felt they had, had a taste of heaven.

Lovely homely cottage

  • 5 of 5

The property was just what we wanted. It was very clean, well equipped and in a lovely area. It was in a very quite area but only a few miles from Matlock, Matlock Bath and Chatsworth. It is a very large property with very pretty gardens and a beautiful outlook. Would certainly recommend this property.

Immaculate cottage .Six friends had a lovely long weekend here 28th April - 1st May '17 for a forty ninth birthday. Everything you could want was catered for from the log fire to board games. Cannot recommend Ivy House enough the owner greeted us when we arrived the views are fantastic and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

Milltown is a peaceful village, gathered around the Miners Arms pub and with lots of leafy lanes leading off into the countryside. There are walks galore in this beautiful valley. Wander along to Ashover with its village stores and three more pubs or set off in the opposite direction to find Ogston Reservoir with its colourful dinghies bobbing about on the waves.

Matlock Bath with the Heights of Abraham cable cars, Lumsdale with its secret waterfalls and the Peak Steam Railway are a must for adults and children alike. So too is Carsington Water with all its water sport activities, cycle hire and adventure playground. Add a visit to stately Chatsworth House, a nostalgic tram ride at the National Tramway Museum and a trip into the wilds of the Peak District National Park and you will need to stay for a second week.

Nearest pub - Milltown 0.25 miles.

Nearest village shop - Ashover 1.5 miles.

Nearest supermarket - Matlock 5 miles.
