Church House is an utterly wonderful conversion of a little church to create what must be one of the best holiday retreats in the Peak District. Set in the heart of the picturesque village of Tideswell it provides lots of spacious, quality accommodation with fantastic features like the tall ceilings, arched windows and glass staircase. Combine this with the quality decoration, furnishing and drapes to make a really incredible place.

House facilities include:

An entrance hall with an original church pew and storage for coats and boots. A superb open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area with leaded windows, oak floor, dramatic lighting and super pictures. The attractive lounge has comfortable leather sofas, Smart T.V., Blu-ray, Freeview, CD and Wi-Fi. The dining area has a lovely oak dining suite. The quality kitchen with its slate flagged floor, has extensive units, granite topped island, range cooker with halogen hob and double oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. The adjoining utility room has a second fridge and automatic washer/dryer. There is also a children's den with sofa bed (that can accommodate two additional guests charged at £25 per person per booking), T.V., Freeview and Play Station. The feature glass staircase leads to a magnificent master bedroom with wonderful windows and drapes, king-size bed and an en-suite shower room with W.C. Two other brilliant double bedrooms with super king-size beds (zip and link twin beds), one with an en-suite shower room with W.C. A fantastic family bathroom with roll top bath, separate large shower and W.C. A downstairs cloakroom with W.C.

Linen and towels are provided. Central heating (under floor heating downstairs) and power are included. A cot and high chair can be requested. There is a lovely terraced garden with furniture. Allocated parking for two cars is provided and additional parking can be found on the surrounding quiet lanes. Secure indoor storage for six bicycles on a triathlon style rack is available. Pets and smoking in the house are not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.

Week bookings are normally Friday to Friday.

Short breaks are available throughout the year by agreement (excluding Peak Weeks and Xmas and New Year). It is the same total price for three or four nights.

Tideswell as a village is just as good. It's a 'proper' village with lots of little shops, three pubs, cafes, a restaurant and even a 'chippy'. Wander down the lane into the centre and feel part of local life. Explore the quiet alleyways, set off along the numerous footpaths into the surrounding countryside or take your bikes across the tops on one of the fantastic trails.

With even wider horizons there are lots more holiday attractions. It's got to be Chatsworth House, Bakewell's Monday market and Victorian Buxton. But some of our local favourites include Monsal Dale's dramatic gorge, Calver Edge's breathtaking views, Peak Rail's steam trains, Crich's tramway and Carsington's wild watersports. After a hard day have the last glass of an evening in the peace and quiet of the landscaped garden!
