Newly purchased luxury cabin, sleeps 2-12! One gigantic master suite with private balcony overlooking famous sugar knoll rock formation. The views of the white and pink cliffs are breath-taking.
We arrived at the cabin with a warm fire roasting - a great touch after a few hour drive! This cabin was the perfect size for our group of 4 couples. It easily could have accommodated additional people if they wanted to sleep in bunk beds or air mattresses. The bed in the master bedroom bed was seriously one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The open kitchen was a great size to cook meals and socialize with our group. We intended to use the firepit out back, but we got back from a day of hiking and were too spent to stay up much past dinner. If we were in this area again, we would definitely consider staying here.
We were very excited about this house as the pictures, reviews and space looked promising. However, the house presented some challenges.
The positives: roughly equal distance from Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks; mountain views are lovely; house is secluded so lots of privacy. My children enjoyed the fire pit out back and it has wonderful night sky views! The beds were comfortable and linens were fresh and well stocked. The owners/managers were responsive.
The disappointments: mouse droppings greeted us on the window sill and counters as we put our groceries into the kitchen and they were found elsewhere on the first floor. (Somewhat understandable as this is infrequently used home. We cleaned it up then found fresh droppings the next morning, so I had some concerns about food safety while I cooked. This would be fine for some folks, a "deal kill" for others.) The owners offered to come set traps but we decided it wasn't worth it for the time we were there, so we just cleaned the counters before every meal preparation.
The basement also significantly flooded twice while we were there. I feel for the owners as the water seems to be coming up from the foundation, so it isn't an easy fix. However, it is clear that this is an ongoing problem. Unfortunately, the water issues have left the basement smelling musty and we weren't able to use the downstairs family room at all. We had been looking forward to watching the Olympics together at night after hiking all day, but there was no other spot for 8 of us to watch. Four of my six children were sleeping in the basement bedrooms so we needed that space to work well and it didn't.
Finally, we paid a little more than I wanted with the online promise that the house was in great condition and looked so comfortable. The LR couch has lost its structural support so the seat collapses down entirely, making it uncomfortable to sit on. A broken wicker bench is the first thing you see when you drive up to the house. I don't mean to sound petty, but when you are paying good money for your vacation spot, these issues leave you really disappointed. Overall, the home did not have the feeling of being well maintained.
Betty and her husband are very helpful and professional. The house is not easy to find, but really pleasant and comfortable.
Sugar Knoll Meadows turned out to be the perfect place for our week in Utah. The location allowed us to see the major national parks in the area with reasonable drive times. Our family of 10 felt comfortable with lots of room for everyone to have their personal space. A well equipped kitchen allowed us to eat most meals at home which we appreciated. We can highly recommend a stay here.
Great location. Loved the campfire pit in the backyard. Kids loved the air hockey table. Star gazing is definitely at another level here. More than enough room for everyone.
Our one-week stay at Sugar Knoll Meadows was enjoyable and memorable for our extended family of nine. The rental cabin was beautiful, spacious and welcoming after a busy day of visiting local sites - Zion, Bryce and the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. We also enjoyed our days just staying at the cabin. I would whole heartedly recommend this venue for a stay in a truly beautiful area of our country. Each member of our family - ages 2 to 64 - took away awsome memories of this trip.
