About the property

3 bedroom/2 bathroom house in the centre of the village with access to amenities

Welcome to Maison D’Angles, located in the centre of the upper village of Angles Sur L’Anglin, officially one of Frances most beautiful villages and located in the region of Nouvelle Aquitaine (was Poitou Charentes), just South of the Loire Valley and North of Bordeaux. . Maison D’Angles was renovated and decorated with antiques and brocante finds by my mother in 2003 and is now our much loved holiday home. It is a beautifully restored stone village house, retaining lots of beautiful original features, restored sympathetically and decorated eclectically with a mix of antiques and brocante finds, plus new modern pieces. The stunning views of the ancient Chateau and across the valley are breathtaking and it's located minutes away from the shops, cafes and restaurants.

Room 1 - 'Atelier'

Entrance through the double front door leads down limestone steps to the 'Atelier'. Here there is hanging space for coats and a boot rack for shoes and boots. There is also a small dining table and 2 chairs and a beautiful leather recliner next to the large patio windows which overlook the Terrace and pretty courtyard garden, perfect for relaxing and reading a book. In the winter, this room is kept toasty by underfloor heating.

Room 2 - Kitchen/Diner

The large sociable kitchen diner, has a dining table for 6-8 people, two comfortable chairs for reading and relaxing, and a well stocked kitchen, including some grocery essentials including teas, coffee, cooking oils, spices and herbs. The limestone floor also has underfloor heating for the colder months.

Room 3 - 'Salon'

The curved oak staircase leads up to the first floor and the 'Salon'. This is a lovely room with original beams, terracotta floor tiles and a restored fireplace. There are 2 sofas and a comfortable armchair in this room, plus a TV with English freeview and a DVD player. There are also board games, DVD's and books by the desk which can be used to work at (we hope you don't have to!). There is a large woodburning stove in this room which is lovely in the Winter!

Room 4 - Master Bedroom and Ensuite

Through the door from the salon is the master bedroom with it's own ensuite bathroom. The room has a large European kingsize bed, and two large wardrobes for storage. There is also a dressing table and a sofa. The views from the window overlook the chateau and the valley beyond. The ensuite bathroom has an old cast iron bath, antique sink and (new!) toilet.

Rooms 5 & 6 Loft Bedrooms & shared Bathroom

On the top floor (from the old original staircase in the Salon) are the two loft bedrooms and bathroom. Both are spacious rooms, with high ceilings, the original beams on show, warm oak flooring and fantastic views. The second room is accessed through a door in the first bedroom. The two rooms share a bathroom with a toilet, sink and power shower.

Outside

The pretty garden is accessed through the patio door from the Atelier or Kitchen. The doors lead to a large limestone terrace with a small marble table for two and a large reclaimed oak table which seats up to 10 people. There are also two sun loungers and 3 reclining chairs with a further sun lounger in the lower garden. The terrace gets the sun all afternoon and until the sun sets.

The lower garden, newly planted with Lavender hedges has a further table and chairs for the morning sun, plus stone benches, a large raised flower bed and small stone shed.

About Emma Coleman

I'm a photographer and gardener, living and working in South West London. I love France and have been visiting the Vienne area for nearly 25 years. My mother bought her first house there in 1992 and then in 2002 fell in love with Maison D'Angles and spent 5 years renovating it from an extremely dilapidated state! I inherited it in 2012 and my husband, our dog and I spend as much time as we can there, not only to spend time in the local area but using it as a base to visit the Loire Valley, Bordeaux and the coastline near to La Rochelle.

I also love to travel and sunshine, long walks, good food and wine!
