From April until October our tortoises live in the garden. In the garden planted with trees (lavender, rosemary...) you can watch the turtles calmly.

The property was excellent and very well-appointed. Olivier really had thought of everything - right down to the raclette which was put to very good use! The house has a very modern feel to it but clearly a lot of thought has gone into its furnishings and it certainly wasn't lacking in charm. The extensive supply of board games was a very nice touch, as were all the amenities such as the hi-fi, satellite TV, washer, dryer and wifi. The garden at the back of the house is lovely with a large terraced area with dining table, sofas, barbecue and is a real suntrap in the evenings. The location is great and you're within easy walking distance of the town centre, beach, tourist information centre, post office, supermarket and the wonderful covered market. Royan itself is perfectly located within the region with lots of lovely towns and villages along the coast to explore, as well as being within a close driving distance of Bordeaux, La Rochelle and the Ile d'Orleron. Olivier lives in the neighbouring property and is very attentive, inviting you to contact him if you need anything, but without being at all intrusive. One of our party was taken ill during the week and Olivier was very helpful, calling the paramedics and explaining the situation to the doctor over the phone. You're guaranteed a warm welcome and you'll find that the house is lacking nothing. There is a large number of bikes in the garage which is a great touch as there are lots of places to explore on two wheels, not least the cycle path that runs the whole length of the front and into neighbouring St-Georges-de-Didonne. I can't recommend this property enough, nor Olivier who is a wonderful host, and would definitely return in the future. Thanks, Olivier, for a wonderful stay!
My husband, six year old daughter and I had a lovely stay at Olivier's apartment. He is great, helpful, friendly, but very respectful of your privacy while you are staying next door. The apartment is clean and incredibly well equipped and it is very quiet and peaceful. The garden is lovely, and my daughter loved the tortoises. There are also lots of games, and toys for children in the house. We particularly appreciated the bikes (there are several) and went for lots of bike rides. Royan is lovely, very laid back and relaxed. Overall, a lovely holiday and we would happily recommend this apartment.
My husband and I enjoyed a very relaxing holiday here in the house that is exactly as described in the listing.
It is located in a quiet residential part of Royan but within walking distance of the town, beaches and station. The accommodation, with connecting bedrooms,is clean,comfortable and offers all home comforts; if there is anything lacking the owner, Olivier, is insistent that you advise him and he will ensure that it is supplied.
Olivier, who is charming and speaks perfect English for all those who speak little French, lives next door but does not impinge on your privacy. He is there to help if help is required. He even lent us some chairs and mats for the beach, how kind.
The secure garden is attractive, providing ample deck area and furniture for you to dine and relax al fresco.
We tended to dine in as the supply of fresh produce is fabulous and a trip to the renowned Royan covered market is a must for all foodies.
We found several Patisseries that offered a wide range of pastry products along with a Charcuterie that supplied many mouthwatering dishes and savoury pastries, all these along the main street.
The area provides a wide range of activities for walkers, cyclist and car drivers alike. From a distillery trip in Cognac, a day out in Bordeaux by train,up the coast to La Rochelle or a walk around the forest north of Royan; the choice is yours.
We would definitely recommend this house and will look forward to a return visit.This time maybe with Ryan Air who fly to La Rochelle however, the drive from Calais is easy on open and empty motorways and you can fill the car with plenty of lovely things.

This accomodation has been renovated to a high standard and is very well maintained. The garden at the back is a real bonus, and we dined out there for the whole week. The entrance to the garden at the back of the house is secure and very private.
The bathrooms are very modern and well appointed.
If you have any problems or need any help, the landlord Olivier lives next door. He was always on hand for us, and he was always helpful and polite and never intrusive. Bikes were provided which is the best way of getting around Royan.
One point you may need to be aware of, one of the bedrooms is used for access to the other three bedrooms, so you may need to consider if privacy is an issue.

Het was onze tweede keer dat we hier verbleven, en ook deze keer waren we aangenaam verrast van ons verblijf.
We wisten natuurlijk al dat het huis pefect gelegen is om alles te voet te doen (strand, winkeltjes, markt, ...) en ook de bedden waren nog steeds prima. Het was leuk om te zien dat het algemene comfort nog wat verhoogd was met wat extra accessoires en nieuwe meubeltjes links en rechts.
Ik vermeld nog heel graag de heel uitgebreide collectie gezelschapsspelletjes en de schildpadden in de tuin, die duidelijk talrijker en groter waren dan vorige keer.
Aanrader zonder enige aarzeling!

Golf: Located in a woodland, the Royan Maine Gaudin golf course offers everything - from high dunes to deep gorges plus some difficulties that challenge the golfers.
Both beginners and experienced golfers will enjoy the 9 and 18-hole course. Always offering a good exercise, even if the tee still needs some practice.
To stay fit, the club offers a driving range, a putting green and a green approach.
